March 13, 2025 – SHOWTIME® today announced that David Dastmalchian (Oppenheimer) will join the cast of the SHOWTIME® original series DEXTER® : RESURRECTION. Dastmalchian will guest star in the role of “Gareth.”
Production for DEXTER: RESURRECTION kicked off in January 2025 in New York and the series is set to launch in summer of 2025 on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME. The new original drama series stars SAG and Golden Globe® winner Michael C. Hall (DEXTER®, Six Feet Under) in the titular role of Dexter Morgan.
In addition to Hall, DEXTER: RESURRECTION will also star Uma Thurman as Charley, David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista, Jack Alcott as Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva, Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera, with James Remar as Dexter’s father Harry Morgan and Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater. Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter and Eric Stonestreet are also set to guest star as Lowell, Mia and Al, respectively.
Most recently, DEXTER®: ORIGINAL SIN, a prequel series that follows Dexter (played by Patrick Gibson) as he transitions from student to serial killer, debuted last year and became the most streamed global original series for SHOWTIME® in ten years. The season finale aired in February and scored 2.68 million global viewers, marking it the most streamed episode of the season. The series, which is available to watch now on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME, delivered over 15 million owned engagements across social during season run.
DEXTER: RESURRECTION is executive produced by Emmy nominee Clyde Phillips (DEXTER, DEXTER: ORIGINAL SIN, NURSE JACKIE), who also returns to serve as showrunner, and produced by SHOWTIME Studios and Counterpart Studios. Michael C. Hall (DEXTER, Six Feet Under) also serves as executive producer along with Scott Reynolds (Jessica Jones), Tony Hernandez (Emily in Paris) and Lilly Burns (Russian Doll), with Marcos Siega (DEXTER® : NEW BLOOD) serving as producing director. Monica Raymund (DEXTER: ORIGINAL SIN) is set to direct four episodes with Marcos Siega directing six episodes for the series. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
Dastmalchian is best known for his notable roles in Christopher Nolan’s films The Dark Knight and Oppenheimer. Additional past credits include starring roles in The Suicide Squad, Dune: Part One, The Last Voyage of the Demeter and Late Night with the Devil. He’ll be seen next in Apple TV+’s Murderbot series premiering this May and Life of Chuck debuting in June. Dastmalchian is repped by Atlas Artists, Persona PR and attorney Duncan Hedges.

Channel 5 and My5 have today relaunched as 5, uniting the broadcaster’s linear and streaming platforms under one brand. Following record growth of viewing on My5 during 2024, the move enables the broadcaster to build on the growing appetite for its streaming offering while continuing to serve its loyal linear audience.
As well as being the destination for all of Channel 5’s acclaimed drama originals, premium factual and kids’ programming from Milkshake!, 5 will feature a significantly expanded content offering drawn from Paramount’s family of brands, including BET, CBS, Comedy Central and MTV Entertainment Studios, plus the opportunity to sample some of the biggest hits from Paramount+ and more – both live and on-demand and all free of charge. Viewers will also have access to a wide range of boxsets, such as The Good Wife, Dexter and The Following.
15 new live channels, curated from some of Paramount’s most popular shows, are now available on 5’s streaming service. These free, ad-supported TV (FAST) channels include Police Interceptors, 5 Cops, Bargain Loving Brits, Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly, The Yorkshire Vet, Geordie Shore, Catfish, Teen Mom, MTV Reality and Milkshake!, with more channels to follow throughout the year.
The launch of 5 is supported by a national marketing campaign – the biggest ever for the broadcaster. Featuring the tagline, ‘It’s all on 5’, to showcase the breadth and depth of 5’s content offering, the campaign will run across out-of-home (OOH), TV, radio, online and on social media platforms. To build on 5’s relatability and deep connection with its audience, the campaign’s creative execution links 5 content to recognisable life moments. Refreshed branding and a consistent look and feel across 5’s on-air and streaming platforms will create a seamless viewing experience for the audience.
5’s combined offering across linear and streaming provides new opportunities for advertisers to reach a broader and more engaged audience through enhanced, data-led advertising solutions.

According to audience measurement firm Barb, viewing minutes for the streaming service were up by 53% in 2024 compared to the previous year—which 5 says is a higher growth rate than any other public service broadcaster in the same period.
While content from Channel 5’s preschool brand Milkshake! and Nick Jr. has already been available on the streamer for some time, Nickelodeon content will be added later this year in an effort that should appeal to older kids.
The service has introduced 15 new live channels to date, including a dedicated Milkshake! FAST channel that’s expected to drive discoverability for the block’s programming—which includes Odo (Sixteen South), The Woohoos! (Snipple Originals), Mixmups (Mackinnon & Saunders) and Tweedy & Fluff (Second Home/Stitchy Feet).

Nickelodeon International will premiere The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish across its Nickelodeon Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) pan-regional feed and on Nickelodeon France on Monday 26th May 2025! The series will air weekdays at 17:35 CET and at weekends at 11:00 CET on Nick CEE.

In The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, ten-year-old Hazel Wells has just moved to the big city of Dimmadelphia because of her dad’s new job. On top of being in an unfamiliar environment, it’s the first time she’s been without her brother, Antony, who’s just left for college, leaving her lonely and unsure of herself. All that changes when the pink-and-green-haired neighbors next door reveal that they are no ordinary neighbors…they’re Cosmo and Wanda, Fairy Godparents! And they’re coming out of retirement to make all of Hazel’s wishes come true. As well as new characters, the series brings back many from the original series, including Vicky, Mr. Crocker, CJ, and Poof, who now goes by the name of Peri. The series also features many Easter eggs calling back to the original show.
The U.S.-English dub of The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish stars Ashleigh Crystal Hairston (Tiny Toons Looniversity, Craig of the Creek) as the voice of Hazel Wells, joining The Fairly OddParents alums Daran Norris (The Loud House, The Thundermans: Undercover, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder) as the voice of Cosmo, and Susanne Blakeslee (The Loud House, Amphibia) as the voice of Wanda.
The CG-animated series, which features a brand new art style for the franchise, is produced by Nickelodeon Animation in Burbank and is co-executive produced by David Stone (Teen Titans Go!), Lindsay Katai (Infinity Train), Ashleigh Crystal Hairston, and Daniel Abramovici (The Peanuts Movie). Fred Seibert (Adventure Time) and Butch Hartman (The Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom) serve as Executive Producers. Produced by Nickelodeon Animation, the series premiered on Nickelodeon in the U.S. on Monday, May 20, with the season one finale airing on August 8. The series later bowed globally on Netflix on November 14, 2024, with season one making its Paramount+ debut in the U.S. on March 12. It's currently unknown whether the series will also stream on Paramount+ Global and/or SkyShowtime.
There’s currently no word on whether the show is set to get a second season. The show was given an upfront order of 20 episodes (36 segments), with all of those making up season 1 of the show now aired. It’s likely going to be the case that Paramount Plus and Netflix's viewership plus Nickelodeon viewership goes into making a renewal decision.
