'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto' Crossover Comic's Issue #1 Unveils 6 Preview Pages | First Look

IDW Publishing has unveiled a first look at six preview pages for issue #1 of their and Viz Media's upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto four-issue crossover comic series, which you can check out below, courtesy of Anime News Network!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto #1

Caleb Goellner (Sonic the Hedgehog) is writing the comic, Hendry Prasetya (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) is drawing, Raúl Angulo is coloring, and Ed Dukeshire is lettering. Jorge Jiménez and Prasetya drew the main cover art for issue #1, which will ship on November 13.

IDW describes the story of the crossover comic:

It's the coolest ninja matchup you could have ever dreamed of, had you dared! The Heroes in a Half-Shell meet the host of the Nine-Tailed Fox in the crossover everyone will be talking about.
When teenage reporter April O'Neil has a clandestine meeting with Tsunade, the leader of the Hidden Leaf Village, it garners the attention of Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi. They aren't the only ones who are wondering what the two women were discussing, though. The sinister Foot Clan have their own interest in April's visit, as they think she might hold the valuable information on mutation research being conducted by the scientist Baxter Stockman. With April caught between the forces of the Hidden Leaf Village and the Foot Clan, it can't be long before the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show up to lend her a hand!

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Naruto franchises have previously collaborated for merchandise at the Box Lunch retail chain.

Masashi Kishimoto launched the ninja manga Naruto in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1999, and ended the series in November 2014. The manga has spawned the Naruto and Naruto Shippūden television anime series, OVAs, several anime films, spinoff manga, the Boruto sequel manga and anime series, a series of novels, stage plays, and video games.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be having a major crossover with Naruto later this Fall, and the artist behind the series has dropped a new sneak peek at the highly anticipated team up with some special new art. Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto is now officially celebrating the 25th anniversary of the manga’s original debut in Shuieisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and that means we’re likely to see all kinds of fun new projects celebrating how far Naruto has come in that time. This has led to the announcement of not only a new live-action movie in the works, but a fun new crossover event too.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto is a fun team up between IDW Publishing, Shueisha and Viz Media launching later this November that will see the Hidden Leaf Village colliding with New York, and it’s going to spark a whole new conflict between all of these famous ninjas. The artist behind the second issue of the new crossover, Jorge Jimenez, took to social media to share a new sneak peek at the crossover that highlights both Donatello and Naruto’s Kyubi form to great results. What Is TMNT x Naruto About?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto teases that it will kick off when April O’ Neil has a meeting with the Fifth Hokage, Tsunade. This secret meeting not only catches the attention of the Hidden Leaf Village (which seems to already exist within the Turtles’ version of New York), but of the Turtles’ own ninja foes, the Foot Clan. So naturally it’s not long before the two have to join forces to take on an even bigger threat. Speaking with ComicBook earlier this Summer about the highly anticipated crossover, series writer Caleb Goellner opened up about bringing the two franchises together.

In incorporating Naruto into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles‘ world, Goellner revealed that the Hidden Leaf Village was fully brought into the universe, “Team 7 will actually be headed to a new version of the TMNT’s turf! We metaphorically (and I guess literally) added a TMNT section to the world of Naruto for this story so we could make it feel as lived-in and authentic as possible. Series artist Hendry Prasetya has done a ton of truly stunning design work to make this possible, of course. He’s got powerful design jutsu.”

When Does TMNT x Naruto Come Out?

In bringing these universes together, Goellner also explained why they felt this crossover is already seemingly perfect, “The magic of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto is pretty self-evident, but the main reason it works in my opinion is that the TMNT as a concept already has so much innate shonen energy. I mean, I’ve always loved the two Japanese TMNT anime OVAs and the resulting toys. I could easily imagine a TMNT series created specifically for Shonen Jump.” And by the looks of this newest cover art, the two are already a perfect team before the first issue hits just as the writer says.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto is currently scheduled to hit comic shop shelves beginning on November 20th, and will be running for four issues to tell its story written by Caleb Goellner with illustrations provided by both Jorge Jimenez and Hendry Prasetya. Each of the issues will also likely have multiple variants, so fans of both franchises will want to keep an eye out for all of the cool crossover art that will be coming our way with this new limited series launching later this Fall.

Pip and Posy Immersive Trail Launches at Blenheim Palace

Magic Light Pictures has teamed up with Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire to bring families an immersive Pip and Posy-themed trail that will guide children through a series of activities this autumn.

BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated production company Magic Light Pictures has announced a collaboration with Oxfordshire UNESCO World Heritage Site, Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, to launch a Pip and Posy-themed immersive trail at its family-themed attraction Adventure Play this autumn.

Currently delighting viewers on Channel 5’s Milkshake!, Nick Jr. and Sky Kids, pre-school favourite Pip and Posy is inspired by the hugely popular books from award-winning illustrator Axel Scheffler and published by Nosy Crow. Packed with warmth and comedy, the top-rating series features the adventures of two best friends whose lives revolve around play and celebrates their great friendship with all its ups and downs.

The new trail, which opened on Tuesday 1st October 2024, guides children through a series of imaginative and engaging activities. Along the way, little explorers will complete tasks and traverse the immersive play area featuring secret chambers, clamber nets, tunnels, slides, rope bridges and giant carrots.

The trail will be transformed with a Halloween theme, with young guests encouraged to dress up in their favourite costumes and enjoy a variety of free activities. On Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd November, there will be appearances from Pip and Posy costume characters and there will be storytelling sessions with TV tie-in books from the series, which are also published by Nosy Crow. Readings will take place daily throughout October in Adventure Play at 11:30am and 2:00pm.

Hollie Bladen, brand manager at Magic Light Pictures, said: “We can’t wait to take Pip and Posy to Blenheim Palace Adventure Play this October. We love to find ways for our characters and properties to enrich and entertain children off screen, and this trail will connect Pip and Posy directly with its target audience through the wonderful world of play.”

Heather Carter, managing director at Blenheim Palace, said: “We’re excited to work with Magic Light Pictures to bring the charm and fun of Pip and Posy to Adventure Play this October. The trail is a wonderful way for children and families to enjoy the outdoors, use their imagination and enjoy time together. The Pip and Posy trail at Adventure Play is set to run throughout October, with the Halloween-themed activities available exclusively during half-term week.

Battersea Power Station Welcomes 'Transformers' and 'Peppa Pig' Stores

Celebrating their 40th and 20th anniversaries respectively, Transformers and Peppa Pig are beloved global brands with fanbases that straddle generations.

Event Merchandising, in collaboration with Hasbro, a leading toy and game company, has announced the November opening for the first permanent, standalone brick-and-mortar Transformers and Peppa Pig retail stores at Battersea Power Station in London, UK. The shops will be located side by side in London’s Battersea Power Station mall.

Boasting 2,000-square-foot, the Transformers store offers something for fans of all ages with the latest products and entertainment across films, comics, toys and games. Featuring designated areas representing the vast Transformers universe, this will be one of the biggest destination stores for Transformers in the U.K. and will display some of the products currently on the market, all under one roof.

Consumers will be taken through Transformers’ 40-year history with nostalgic and bespoke features that show shoppers the store has been crafted with their entertainment and enjoyment in mind. With a full graffiti mural displaying the Transformers robots and Battersea Power Station created by MurWalls, the store at Battersea will also feature an exclusive, limited-edition cover of Skybound Entertainment’s award-winning Transformers comics.

The immersion continues as consumers walk through the store and can demo Transformers video games and the Transformers AR Trading Card game by Vanch Studios, introducing an Augmented Reality element to the traditional collectible card games. Transformers at Battersea Power Station will feature the latest collectible figurines from Hasbro and live demonstrations of Robosen Transformers Series robots, with voice-activated transformations at the customer’s commands. In addition, several photo ops are available, from statues to retro packaging and an Autobot faction display suspended in the air above the store floor, comprised of hundreds of Transformers pieces.

The store also features several graphic choices and classic designs that pay tribute to the Transformers franchise. There will also be film content via the upcoming Transformers One film and figurine collections available.

Adjacent to the Transformers store, Battersea Power Station invites consumers into the world of Peppa Pig. Every corner of the Peppa Pig store is designed to bring to life Peppa’s world from the animated preschool television series. 

Boasting 2,800 square feet of floor space, this store has been curated to bring the best of Peppa’s world onto the shelves, from clothing and accessories to imagination and play. Customers will be able to shop across a broad range of British brand collaborations, including Emma Bridgewater (housewares), Trotters London (apparel) and Hummingbird Bakery (baked goods), as well as Trunki with its playful ride-along suitcases.

Located in London, Peppa’s home market, the Peppa Pig store will offer an exclusive range of London-themed products, including introducing Battersea Power Station in Peppa’s world. A bespoke edition of Penguin Publishing’s Peppa Goes to London story book has been updated and refreshed to include Battersea, as well as featuring the character of the King for the first time in any Peppa Pig product.

Alongside one of the best arrays of Peppa Pig products in the U.K., the store will include interactive elements such as opportunities to sit in the driver’s seat of the Ty plush London bus, be photographed against the backdrop of  Battersea Power Station, brought to life in the style of Peppa’s world, jump around on the pretend muddy puddles or play and learn with the many Peppa Pig toys and games to be found around the store. A soft play seating area allows for time to chill, read a book or watch what’s happening on the Peppa stage, where episodes of the Peppa Pig series will play throughout the day on a giant screen.

The Peppa Pig store will feature daily free meet-and-greet appearances with Peppa herself, where a hug and a photo are just part of the fun of a family day out at Battersea Power Station.

Event Merchandise’s goal was to create a blend between a shopping destination and an immersive experience that offers both “an opportunity to play with and experience products before buying [them] and to create a lasting memory,” says Warren Traeger, head of partnerships.

The UK has a pretty strong toy market that generated US$4.6 billion in total sales last year, a 5% decrease from 2022, according to Circana. Licensed toys played a key role, driving a record-setting 32% of all 2023 toy sales.
