Nickelodeon Launches Splat Rebrand in India

Viacom18 and Paramount Global have launched Nickelodeon's 2023 rebrand on their Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels in India. The rebrand reimagines Nickelodeon's iconic splat logo and slime with a fresh new design, and includes new on-air graphics, such as lower-thirds, updated BUG/DOG, bumpers, idents, and promos. Both channels' official websites - nickindia.com and nickjrindia.com - have also been updated to incorporate their respective new logos. Interestingly, with most Nickelodeon channels adopting the "Nickelodeon" logo, Nick India is keeping its short-form name, "Nick". At the time of posting, Nick India's spin-off channels, Nickelodeon HD+ and Nickelodeon Sonic, have not rebranded to the Splat look.

Update (15/8) - Nickelodeon India has launched Nickelodeon's 2023 Splat rebrand on Nickelodeon HD+!

The brand refresh went live on Nickelodeon in the U.S. last year, and has since rolled out onto Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels globally. As of writing, there is only a handful of of Nickelodeon channels still to introduce the refresh, including Nickelodeon Greece and Nickelodeon Pakistan.

New York, NY, August 14, 2024 - Comedy Central announced today that it has licensed the rights to library episodes of the Emmy® Award-Winning animated series, Family Guy, which will air for the first time ever within the Paramount family of brands. The iconic series is set to launch with an all-day marathon on Labor Day, Monday, September 2, and will join the primetime lineup starting on Tuesday, September 3, solidifying its position as a cornerstone of the brand's programming.

"We are excited to welcome Family Guy to Comedy Central joining the best in adult animation alongside South Park, Futurama, and Beavis and Butt-Head, among others," said Laurel Weir, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming, SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks. "Delivering bold, irreverent and culturally impactful content to our fans is our top priority which makes Family Guy the perfect complement to our robust adult animation slate."

The licensing agreement with Disney Entertainment for the series was negotiated on behalf of Paramount Global by Barbara Zaneri, Chief Programming Acquisitions Officer.


The series has racked up numerous awards, including an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, only the second animated series in television history to be honored with such a distinction. Series creator and lead voice actor Seth MacFarlane (voices of "Peter Griffin," "Stewie Griffin," "Brian Griffin" and "Glenn Quagmire") was nominated for the 2021 Emmy Award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance and won the 2019 Emmy Award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance. Cast member Alex Borstein (voice of "Lois Griffin") won the 2018 Emmy Award in that same category and was just nominated in 2024. MacFarlane also was nominated in 2018. He won the 2017 and 2016 Emmy Award in the category and was nominated from 2013 to 2015.

Family Guy is a 20th Television Animation production and is distributed by Disney Entertainment. MacFarlane is creator and executive producer. Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin serve as executive producers and showrunners, while Steve Callaghan, Tom Devanney, Danny Smith, Kara Vallow, Mark Hentemann, Patrick Meighan and Alex Carter are executive producers.

It highlights the fact that while licensing deals for network shows on cable is a rarity in the new world of streaming, it isn’t completely dead. The deal is non-exclusive with prior seasons continuing to air on FX and FXX, while Hulu is the exclusive streaming home of the show.

It comes after Family Guy is being moved to midseason on Fox, the first time that Peter Griffin and his family aren’t on the fall schedule. Family Guy, as well as The Simpsons, are heading into its final season of a two-season renewal. Hulu is airing two exclusive episodes later this year, starting with a Glen Powell-led Halloween special. The Orville star and creator MacFarlane recently said that he doesn’t “see a good reason to stop”.

August 14, 2024 – Paramount+ today announced that Sandro Rosta will star in the original series STAR TREK: STARFLEET ACADEMY, joining the cast as a cadet. The upcoming series will follow the adventures of a new class of Starfleet cadets as they come of age in one of the most legendary places in the galaxy. Produced by CBS Studios, the highly anticipated new series will begin production later this month.

Rosta joins the previously announced cast of cadets: Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané and Zoë Steiner, as well as Holly Hunter, who plays the captain and chancellor of Starfleet Academy. Additional cast members include Tig Notaro and Robert Picardo, reprising their roles as Jett Reno and The Doctor, and guest stars Oded Fehr and Mary Wiseman, reprising their roles as Admiral Vance and Sylvia Tilly, as well as recurring guest stars Gina Yashere and Paul Giamatti.

STAR TREK: STARFLEET ACADEMY introduces viewers to a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.

A British Canadian actor and model, Rosta recently graduated from the Oxford School of Drama. During this time, he starred as Romeo in “Romeo and Juliet,” Trofimov in “The Cherry Orchard” and Tom Musgrave in “The Watsons” at the Jermyn Street Theatre. Rosta recently made his professional debut in “The Harmony Test” at Hampstead Theatre.

Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau serve as co-showrunners and executive produce the series alongside executive producers Gaia Violo, Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa and John Weber. The series’ premiere episode is written by Gaia Violo. STAR TREK: STARFLEET ACADEMY is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. NEW YORK, July 16, 2024 -- Paramount Global today announced an expanded partnership with Ice Cube and his production company Cube Vision on the heels of their long standing relationship.

Under the first look deal for television, Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz, COO of Cube Vision and Cube's producing partner, will develop and executive produce projects for broadcast, cable and streaming platforms across Paramount. The deal kicks off with a new untitled scripted project in development at SHOWTIME Studios that explores the cutthroat world of Hollywood through the Black experience and the depths an explosive cast of characters go in pursuit of power and the price of fame.

The expanded partnership stems from the company's long-standing relationship with Cube where the parties work together on Big3 basketball league that airs on CBS, Hip Hop Squares for VH1 alongside many music related projects over the years and a featured role in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, where Cube voiced/starred in the Seth Rogan co-written film.

Funrise Continues to Enjoy Strong Growth

July 2024 was a successful month for Funrise, with sales for the month up +29% whilst the overall toy market was down -2%, according to data from Circana.

Funrise has reported that its sales and marketing efforts have proved fruitful this year, as it finished three consecutive months of growth in May, June and July, resulting in the company ranking in the top 50 suppliers in Circana.

As the Outdoor season comes to a close, Gazillion Bubbles has performed incredibly well, with the Standard 2-litre and Giant 2-litre solutions ranking as the No. 1 and No. 2 bubble solution items in the Circana bubble subclass year to date (after own brand). This is the fourth consecutive month that these products have performed strongly and continued to top the subclass item rankings. The bubble solutions have remained the No. 1 bubble item on Amazon since April.

To celebrate 20 years of the Gazillion brand, this spring saw Gazillion Bubbles arrive pitch-side with a nine-game advertising campaign at major premier league fixtures. Each match was televised live on either Sky Sports or TNT Sports, placing the Gazillion brand in front of millions of viewers to deliver strong brand building and exposure. Results show the campaign helped to raise the awareness, profile and exposure of the Gazillion among football fans, especially with families dual viewing live TV games at home with their children.

With Circana data now capturing the entire first half of the year, Funrise has also climbed up the vehicle super category list and is now the No. 7 supplier with +66% growth.

“Our TMNT Sewer Shredders pull-back item is the No. 2 item in the pull back vehicles subclass, which is contributing to our growth in the super category,” says Mayur Pattni, Marketing manager, Europe, at Funrise. “With [Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles] now streaming on Paramount Plus, we have a lot of opportunities in our TMNT range for retailers. We also have a great die-cast 3-pack line within our CAT range that is performing really well alongside our Mini Crew 2 Pack item.”

Mayur added: “Fart Ninjas range is also performing very well in existing retailers and in new retail partners we’ve recently onboarded, which is also contributing to our growth.”


Funrise is gearing up for the launch of its much-anticipated Furlings interactive plush this month. “Our goal is to establish Furlings as a Top 50 toy for the months of October and November, following our marketing launch in September,” explained Mayur. We have invested in a massive media campaign (starting from October payday) as well as Disney+ advertising which puts us in front of kids and families right as new content is released and demand for holiday films soars. Our timing means we can ride the wave created by Moana 2: the film is slated for release on November 27th. We also have robust influencer activity in the mix with YouTube and TikTok shorts, as well as a bold out-of-home campaign to deliver a multi-touch-point campaign.”

CBS News launched 48 HOURS, its free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channel, today, Aug. 14 on new platforms, it was announced by Wendy McMahon, president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures. 48 HOURS will feature over 500 episodes of the award-winning true-crime series and now be available on CBSNews.com and the CBS News app as well as Paramount+, rolling out on partner channels today. This channel will continue to be available on Paramount's leading FAST service Pluto TV.

48 HOURS on the CBS Television Network has been Saturday's #1 non-sports primetime program for 18 consecutive seasons. And for the first time in the broadcast's history, during the 2023-2024 season, 48 HOURS added more than 1 million viewers in seven-day playback 10 times this season.

Across linear and streaming platforms, 48 HOURS has garnered 36.3 billion minutes of viewing this season, making it one of the most popular programs in America. Compared to the previous year, 48 HOURS' total minutes are up +23% on linear, +31% on streaming and +25% overall.

"48 HOURS has tremendous appeal to millions of viewers and is delivering remarkable growth in its 36th season. It truly is the iron horse of the true crime genre and continues to gain steam on every platform as we find new ways to create ubiquitous distribution for this iconic franchise," McMahon said. With more than 500 episodes in the show's library, the 48 HOURS FAST channel will debut without a repeated episode during its first seven days. In addition, the 48 HOURS stream will feature blocks of episodes with themes including, Crimes of Passion, Serial and Spree Killings, Criminal Blunders, Evil in the Family, Love Gone Wrong, Wrongful Convictions, Women Who Kill, Houses of Horror, Money Kills, Missing People, Cold Cases, Survival Stories and Hollywood Mysteries.
