German family channel Super RTL wants to take over children’s channel Nickelodeon in Germany and rebrand it into its children’s brand Toggo.
The companies confirmed a corresponding agreement to German industry publication DWDL.
According to the agreement, Super RTL will take over Nickelodeon’s established satellite frequency on Astra (19.2° East) and operate the free-to-air channel under its own Toggo brand after a transitional period, while continuing to show popular Nickelodeon series such as PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants and The Loud House. The Nickelodeon channel brand will disappear from German free-TV. Paramount intends to focus entirely on its streaming services Paramount+ and Pluto TV in the children’s sector in Germany in future.
“By expanding the partnership with Nickelodeon and Paramount, Super RTL is offering its young audience an even richer wealth of high-quality children’s programmes. The takeover of the satellite frequency creates a new valuable Toggo touchpoint for the target group of 3 to 13-year-olds. This fits perfectly into the strategy of making the Toggo brand present and tangible for children across as many channels and platforms as possible,” said Thorsten Braun, Head of Marketing, Brand & Consumer Products Officer at RTL Deutschland.

Although competitors, Paramount and Super RTL do have existing content and licensing deals, for example with PAW Patrol since 2016 and with SpongeBob SquarePants in 2021. So they aren't strangers.

April 18, 2024 – Paramount+ with SHOWTIME today released the official trailer and key art for the upcoming second half of season six of the hit SHOWTIME Original series THE CHI, which will return on Friday, May 10 on streaming and on demand for Paramount+ subscribers with the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME® plan, before making its on-air debut on Sunday, May 12, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The series recently wrapped production in Chicago on the remaining eight episodes of the supersized 16-episode season.
Created and executive produced by Emmy® winner Lena Waithe (Twenties, Master of None) under her Hillman Grad banner and executive produced by Academy Award® and Emmy winner Common (Selma), THE CHI is a timely coming-of-age story centering on a group of residents on the South Side of Chicago who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption. The record-breaking season-six premiere, which ranks among the top SHOWTIME premieres ever in streaming viewership, kicked off a season that careened between the highest highs and lowest lows. This season, Emmett (Jacob Latimore) and Kiesha’s (Birgundi Baker) blissful blended union is tested by his perilous partnership with Douda, (Curtiss Cook), who is dealing with the fallout of Q’s murder and its effect on the shifting loyalty of his inner circle. Victor’s (Luke James) tangled past impacts his new role as city councilman. April 17, 2024 — Paramount+ today announced that new episodes of the groundbreaking docuseries BEHIND THE MUSIC will premiere exclusively on the service in the U.S. and Canada on Wednesday, May 1 and in the UK, Australia, Latin America, Brazil, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria on Thursday, May 2. The new episodes profile Bell Biv DeVoe, Trace Adkins and Wolfgang Van Halen and remastered episodes feature 50 Cent, Bobby Brown, Ice-T, Milli Vanilli, The Notorious B.I.G. and Sinead O'Connor.

When New Edition dissolved in the late ’80s, Ronnie DeVoe, Ricky Bell and Michael Bivins were counted out by critics and record execs. However, they defied expectations and became a multi-platinum group with their album Poison. The trio created some of the greatest party anthems of the 1990s, but infighting, financial pitfalls, addiction and mental health struggles almost led to the group’s demise. Four decades later, Bell Biv DeVoe still is performing for multiple generations of adoring global fans.
Trace Adkins’ career is a country music song in itself. Despite a near-fatal shooting, Adkins worked his way to the top of the country music charts with his platinum-selling debut album Dreamin’ Out Loud. But a sophomore slump and a struggle with alcoholism nearly destroyed his career as soon as it took off. With help from family, musicians and mentors alike, Trace pushed forward with even more hits, a flourishing acting career and a new lease on life.
Wolfgang Van Halen reveals his story that’s wrought with trauma, perseverance and immense talent. Born to guitar god Eddie Van Halen and actress Valerie Bertinelli, Wolfgang instantly became bound to music. As he developed his own sound, Wolfgang turned to his solo project, Mammoth WVH, before tragedy struck. Eddie’s death rocked his son’s world, but Wolfgang solidified his music career with a sound all of his own while continuing to honor his father’s legacy.

CBS has announced a straight to series drama order for NCIS: Origins for the 2024-2025 broadcast season from CBS Studios. NCIS: Origins begins in 1991, years prior to the events of NCIS and follows a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, narrated by Mark Harmon.
