  • McDonald’s Spain is celebrating the 30th anniversary since the sitcom Friends premiered on NBC with an adult Happy Meal. Friends continues to be a global hit even 30 years after it debuted on network television, with audiences discovering the sitcom on streaming services. McDonald’s in Spain has released a collaboration with Friends that allows fans to collect figurines of all six cast members. The Happy Meal, which targets adults, comes with a choice of a Big Mac, a Quarter Pound, McRoyal Delux, CBO, or McChicken, alongside a drink and fries. The meal also includes “Monica’s Marinara,” a special sauce created for the “Friends Box.” [Deadline]

  • Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark filmmaker André Øvredal is returning to the horror space with an untitled project at Paramount Pictures. Former Warner Bros production executive Walter Hamada is producing via his production company 18hz, as part of his first-look deal with Paramount, alongside It screenwriter Gary Dauberman via Coin Operated. Zachary Donohue and T.W. Burgess penned the script for the new project, which has a logline that’s being kept secret. [Deadline]

  • Paramount and Ridley Scott’s anticipated sequel, Gladiator II, has been set as a Royal Film Performance, the studio and the Film and TV Charity announced this morning. The world premiere will be held in London on November 13, with red carpet footage streamed to 30 cinemas hosting regional premieres across the UK. [Deadline]

  • Downton Abbey star Phyllis Logan is leading a pan-global Channel 5 drama based on Parnell Hall’s Puzzle Lady mysteries. The Puzzle Lady [working title] will see the BAFTA-nominee play Cora Felton, who takes on the eponymous moniker. When a strange murder takes place in the sleepy market town of Bakerbury, the local police are baffled by a crossword puzzle left on the body. With their case going nowhere, they turn reluctantly to Felton, a recent arrival. Hall, who died in 2020, wrote numerous Puzzle Lady books along with his Stanley Hastings mysteries. The series is for Paramount-owned Channel 5 and is being distributed in the U.S. by PBS Distribution with producers Channel Zero and ZDF Studios selling rest of world. The series has begun production in Northern Ireland and is set to air in 2025. Paul Testar, Commissioning Editor, Drama, Channel 5 and Paramount+ said: “We’re very pleased to bring The Puzzle Lady to Channel 5, a compelling, cosy crime drama that will keep viewers guessing and entertained equally.” [Deadline]

  • Kartoon Studios launches a vidgame FAST channel in Europe: Featuring original series Kidaverse Roblox Rumble, plus gaming-led licensed titles. Initially available in the UK, Italy and Spain, Video Game Heroes will prominently feature tentpole Kartoon series Kidaverse Roblox Rumble (10 x 17 minutes), along with other gaming-themed shows including Sonix X (78 x 22 minutes) and Donkey Kong Country (40 x 22 minutes). Also in the lineup are fast-paced quiz shows KC Pop Quiz and Sunny Bunnies to test kids on their gaming knowledge. In other news, Kartoon Studios has finalized a deal with Singapore-based PowerKids Entertainment to offer Kartoon Channel! throughout India, opening it up to nearly 354 million children under the age of 18, according to Statista.
