Nickelodeon has reimagined The Backyardigans, giving the network's beloved CG-animated preschool series a brand new look!
The refreshed look The Backyardigans was unveiled in a music video released on the official The Backyardigans YouTube channel on July 12, which covers the fan-favorite “Castaways” song, which became a viral hit on TikTok during the pandemic.

At the moment, the new rebooted look sounds like it's only going to be limited to reimagining the music videos from the show, with producer Kate Smeal paying tribute to Janice Burgess, the late creator of The Backyardigans, who passed away earlier this year, on LinkedIn, saying:
"Janice Burgess, I hope we do you proud with this series. You influenced an entire generation of kids and left your thumb print on the world of children's entertainment. This one is for you!
"I am honored to have been part of the reimagining of The Backyardigans' discography for Nickelodeon and Nickelodeon Animation. Here is the first song of the series, Castaways! The Nick team on this project is so insanely talented, thoughtful, and fun to work with. They have made this series so special and I cannot wait for you to see what they created. The Backyardigans is a popular CG-animated preschool series that follows five high-spirited neighbors who meet in their adjoining backyards and use their imaginations to transport themselves to different locations for epic adventures, all set to a backdrop of music and dance. The Backyardigans gang is made up of Pablo, an energetic, enthusiastic and excitable penguin; Pablo’s best friend Tyrone, an easy-going, confident young moose; Uniqua, a one-of-a-kind character with an adventurous nature; Tasha, a deceptively sweet and girlish hippo; and Austin, a resourceful and shy kangaroo. The series aired for 80 episodes across four seasons between October 11, 2004 and July 12, 2013.
