The Paramount+ iCarly revival was suddenly canceled in October 2023 after the season 3 finale's big cliffhanger
Miranda Cosgrove is still holding out for a proper sendoff for the hit Paramount+ iCarly revival.
Following its season 3 finale that aired in July 2023, which featured a shocking cliffhanger, the streaming service announced the show's cancellation that October.
The final moments almost saw Cosgrove's titular Carly Shay marrying longtime best friend-turned-boyfriend Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress). Even more shocking, Carly and big brother Spencer Shay's (Jerry Trainor) mother — who has never been shown and is rarely mentioned in both the OG series and its successor — appeared, albeit off-screen.
However, Miranda has hinted that there could be a iCarly movie on the horizon to wrap up the series! Speaking to Variety at the New York premiere of her new movie Despicable Me 4 in June, Miranda said: “I’m pretty sure it’s gonna happen. So I’m excited, and I’d love to get to wrap up the story.”
The news follows Miranda Entertainment Tonight in May that she "had a great experience getting to come back and do it for a few seasons, for sure. But I'd love to still be able to wrap up the story in some way," Cosgrove, 30, told
"Maybe, hopefully, someday, we'll still do it," the Mother of the Bride star continued. "I feel like it would probably be more along the lines of maybe a movie, that would kind of wrap it all up or something like that. So that's what I'm hoping for."

There are still some storylines Cosgrove says she wants to see play out, including her character's long-developing romance with Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress) and some unanswered family questions.
Cosgrove added: "I want to know who Carly's mother is as much as [fans do]. It seems like a lot of people were hoping to see that."
At the time of the show's cancellation, star Laci Mosley announced on X (formerly Twitter) that “it’s canceled babes." Paramount+ then released a statement confirming the news.
"iCarly will not be returning for a fourth season on Paramount+," a spokesperson for the streaming platform said in a statement to the press. "The series had a great three-season run and delivered on what fans really wanted to see with Carly and Freddie finally getting together. We want to thank the entire cast, the writers, directors and producers along with the whole crew for their dedication, creativity and talent."
The new iteration came nearly nine years after Nickelodeon's iCarly, which ran from 2007 to 2012 for five seasons. Jaidyn Triplett also starred in the revival series.
