Turning up the volume on audio experiences for its youngest audience, Nickelodeon is about to launch four new titles, including a Dora culinary adventure and a Blue’s Clues game show.
Giving fans of its biggest franchises more content access points to engage with, Nickelodeon is launching four new preschool podcasts produced by Paramount Audio this month: three originals and one renewal, Kidscreen reports.
First up on May 13 is Dora’s Recipe for Adventure (10 episodes), a culinary adventure podcast that finds Dora and her monkey bestie Boots searching the rainforest for missing ingredients to make some of Dora’s favorite family dishes. Featuring brand-new music, this title celebrates culture, food, family and the importance of embracing oneself.
May 14 will mark the launch of Story Time with Josh & Blue season two (14 episodes). Based on hit series Blue’s Clues & You!, this podcast features host Josh telling bedtime stories and singing songs to Blue.
Another new wind-down title with gentle songs, stories and a focus on nighttime routines is Nickelodeon’s Goodnight Bedtime Stories (20 episodes). Premiering May 15, it features a cast of popular Nick Jr. characters (pictured) including Dora and Boots from Dora the Explorer, Skye and Everest from PAW Patrol and Blaze, Crusher, Pickle and Gabby from Blaze and the Monster Machines.
And finally on May 16, Josh and Blue are back in Let’s Guess Who with Josh & Blue (10 episodes). It’s an interview/game show format in which Josh and Blue ask questions and use sound clues to guide listeners through a series of guessing games that will reveal the identity of a mystery guest.
The first two episodes of each new English-only podcast will launch simultaneously worldwide on platforms including Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and Spotify, with new eps to follow weekly.
To date, Nickelodeon has launched six podcasts for older kids—Avatar: Braving the Elements (season three premiered earlier this year), SpongeBob BingePants, Listen Out Loud with the Loud House, The Casagrandes Familia Sounds, Are You Afraid of the Dark? (an Audible Original) and Nick Animation Podcast—but only one for preschoolers
Story Time with Josh & Blue, which premiered in August 2020, has amassed a very consistent and sizable audience, according to Alex Reeds, Senior Vice President (SVP) of growth and operations for Nickelodeon Digital and Unscripted Studio. “We wanted to build on that success and bring more episodes to our loyal listeners,” he says.
Reeds says Nick is working on several other preschool podcasts at the moment. “We see many opportunities at the intersection of our characters, stories and parents’ needs throughout their busy days (and nights),” he says. “While there has been much discussion about the changes in the podcast landscape over the past 18 months, we believe that there is opportunity to engage existing fans and build new audiences in this still-emerging space for kids and families.”
