Young actor Kyrie McAlpin has just joined the voice cast of Nickelodeon's hit animated series The Loud House as cousin Shelby Loud! The actor and character made their debuts in the recent Loud House holiday special, "'Twas the Fight Before Christmas."
“I am honored to say I have officially joined the @nickelodeon family,” the talented young actor captioned an Instagram post, announcing the exciting news.
She continued, “I am proud to use my voice on another major platform, voicing the role of Shelby Loud on the show @nicktheloudhouse Thank you to my team, @agentmelissabb @cesdvoiceover @pedro_tapia___ @ashleylanedoss for always going above and beyond for me. 'In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.'- Roman’s 12:6 #nickelodeon #theloudhouse #teamkyrie #loudhousefamily #shelbyloud.”
If McAlpin’s name sounds familiar, than it should. The talented actress has a super impressive resume that spans a few years of impressive roles that include starring in the Disney Plus reboot, Cheaper By The Dozen, Blackjack Christmas, and voicing the role of Emma Pine in the animated series, Doug Unplugs, among others.
In addition to her successful acting career, this young rising star is also a model, writer, dancer, and singer. However, when she is not busy with her career, McAlpin told Girls’ Life in a previous interview that her go-to downtime activities are “meditation and cooking”.
“Meditation calms me down when I just need some “me” time. And cooking!”
Everything you need to know for the Christmas Day broadcast
CBS Sports' special partnership with Nickelodeon will be on full display at Super Bowl LVIII in February, when the big game will also be broadcast in a family-friendly format. But NFL action on Nick will return even before then, with the Chiefs and Raiders set to appear in a new edition of the NFL Nickmas Game on Christmas Day.
"Arrowhead is the perfect place to have that amazing energy, and I think it's gonna be 10 times amplified when it is Christmas Day," NFL Slimetime host Dylan Schefter, who will be part of the Nickelodeon broadcast live from Kansas City, told CBS Sports. "All kids and even parents are gonna love it."
Schefter is just one piece of a star-studded lineup for the broadcast. And seeing that the matchup will be in the Chiefs' house, she's not ruling out a Christmas Day check-in on pop star Taylor Swift, who's been a faithful visitor to K.C. games this year.
"We're definitely hoping to see her," Schefter says. "I'm a big Swiftie; I was blasting 'Reputation' this morning. And I also love Travis Kelce. So if I got to see or meet both of them, that would be amazing."
With or without Swift, Schefter believes the Nickmas Game will help set the stage for Nickelodeon's Super Bowl LVIII broadcast, ringing in the holiday with lots of new features. Here's everything else you need to know:
NFL Nickmas Game
Date: Monday, Dec. 25 | Time: 1 p.m. ET
TV: Nickelodeon
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle takeover: One of the Turtles, Raphael (Brady Noon), will join Nate Burleson and Noah Eagle in the augmented reality broadcast booth, while Donatello (Micah Abbey) will appear throughout the contest alongside Dylan Schefter to help provide additional commentary and penalty explanations from Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
Special holiday effects: The NFL Nickmas Game will also feature upgraded virtual cannons that fire slime during the broadcast, as well as virtual snowballs, pizzas and presents that decorate the contest with festive graphics. Animated holiday characters like Santa, Yeti and Snowball will also appear, as will an exclusive halftime sneak peek of Nick's new series Rock Paper Scissors.
NFL Nickmas Game 2023: Dylan Schefter and Micah Abbey Talk 'Amplified' Nickelodeon Event (Exclusive)
The NFL and Nickelodeon are teaming up again to air a game on Christmas.
The NFL on Nickelodeon is back, as the network will air another NFL game on Christmas Day in 2023. This year's NFL Nickmas Game will feature the Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs, and it's likely the game will be a taste of what fans can expect from the network's Super Bowl coverage in February. PopCulture.com spoke to Dylan Schefter and Micah Abbey, both of whom will be working the game in different capacities. Schefter, ESPN reporter Adam Schefter's daughter who is a correspondent on Nickelodeon's NFL Slimetime, will be the sideline reporter and is ready for all the chaos.
"I think this game's going to stand out because it's going to be 10 times better than I feel like last year because everything's more amplified," Schefter told PopCulture. "There's going to be better effects, there's going to be an updated slime cannon, which is going to be insane, if I do say so myself. I think there's going to be better effects, obviously, we're going to get Santa coming back for year two now, and I think it's going to be a really fun experience for everyone at home, even adults."
Abbey, who voiced Donatello in the Nickelodeon film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, will reprise his role for the game. Donatello will pop up during the game to explain penalties. "I'm really excited. I'm a big NFL fan, and obviously, I'm part of the Nickelodeon family, so it's a great combination," Abbey told PopCulture. "I love football, so it was nothing new to me. Yeah, and it's also really fun to be a part of somebody's learning experience. I know when I first got introduced to football, it was kind of hard, and it was good having someone explain the rules. So having a character that someone's used to pop up and explain the rules is definitely something incredible and amazing to be a part of."
With the game featuring the Chiefs, Schefter would love to talk to players like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. However, with Kelce dating Taylor Swift, Schefter could find a way to talk to her since she is a big fan. "I think there's a request sent in, something like that," Schefter said. "It's definitely a surprise. We'll definitely see what's going to happen. I'm not sure logistically, but I'm really hoping that it'll happen. I went to her Eras Tour and I stood out in the rain for three hours. It was like one of the rainiest shows of the tour, and I stood out there, I looked like I walked out of a shower by the end of it, but it was one of the best experiences."
Abbey is looking forward to the game, despite being a supporter of a team that wears black and gold. "I am a Steelers fan. It's in my blood. Steelers nation," Abbey revealed. "Hopefully, we'll see them in the Super Bowl, although that is probably not likely. But I love to support my teams, and I am also a big Patrick Mahomes fan, just to see him do what he's doing in the league, which is so awesome. And I'm a big Davante Adams fan, a big Isiah Pacheco and Travis Kelce, so they're all superstars. And it would be awesome to meet them too."
The Nickelodeon NFL Nickmas Game will also air on CBS and Paramount+.

You can watch the 1987 Garfield Christmas Special for free online.
The true meaning of Christmas is presents, breakfast lasagnas, and lazing around — if you're Garfield, that is. The classic A Garfield Christmas has been available to stream for free on YouTube, along with a compilation of holiday-themed clips featuring the lasagna-loving, Mondays-hating cat and friends from The Garfield Show. The television special is written by Jim Davis and co-directed by George Singer and Phil Roman, an animator whose 50-year career spans seminal animated holiday specials like How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, and Garfield's Thanksgiving.
The 1987 Christmas special is based on Davis' iconic comic strip and begins on Christmas Eve morning, when Jon wakes Garfield from his slumber for a surprise: Garfield, Jon, and Odie are celebrating an old-fashioned holiday on the Arbuckle family farm with his parents (Pat Harrington and Julie Payne), his brother Doc Boy (David Lander), and Grandma Arbuckle (Pat Carroll).
"Why is it every Christmas I get drug out of my warm bed just to see some stupid old relatives? And why is it I always have to go to the stupid old farm? Why can't they come here where my warm bed is?" grumbles the overweight orange tabby cat (Lorenzo Music), who begrudgingly listens to Jon's sentimental musical memories of life on the farm.
The special sees the cynical Garfield cozy up to the cat-talking Grandma Arbuckle — and her homemade sausage gravy — who laments the loss of her late husband, Grandpa Arbuckle. In a heartwarming tug at the heartstrings, Garfield gifts Grandma a sentimental present and receives the best gift of all from Odie: the true meaning of Christmas. In the end, Garfield realizes: "It's not the giving, it's not the getting — it's the loving."
The Garfield Movie's latest poster sees baby Garfield and baby Odie in some stockings.
'Tis the season... for lasagna? At least that's what Garfield would say! The beloved cat got his start in a comic strip by Jim Davis back in 1976, and now he's headed back to the big screen. The first trailer for The Garfield Movie was released last month, and there have also been some fun posters promoting the film. The latest is a holiday-themed poster that sees baby Garfield and baby Odie hanging out on the mantle in some stockings.
"Let's hope Santa isn't checking the naughty list twice... 😉🎄 Happy Holidays from The #GarfieldMovie, exclusively in movie theaters this Summer," the official account for the Garfield Movie shared. You can check out the "Meowy Christmas" poster below:
In additional news, a The Garfield Movie video game is in development courtesy of Sino-American fund Stars-Hana, which combines Peter Luo’s Stars Collective, Chinese firm Hana Investment and Starlight Media. Although Sony is producing the new Garfield flick, Stars Collective holds a 25-year exclusive merchandising license for the franchise in China.
Who Stars in the New Garfield?
Chris Pratt will voice the titular cat in the movie, and he will be joined by some big names. Garfield also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Nicholas Hoult, Hannah Waddingham, Cecily Strong, Ving Rhames, Brett Goldstein, and Bowen Yang
The film will serve as a reunion for both Ted Lasso and Saturday Night Live. Goldstein has starred alongside Waddingham throughout all three seasons of Ted Lasso, each taking home Emmys for their roles on the Apple TV+ series. Meanwhile, Yang and Strong have worked together for multiple seasons of Saturday Night Live.
Last month, Pratt revealed he was back to recording his voice work for the movie after the SAG strike came to an end. "Strike over. Back in action. LETS GO!! #Garfield #JockoGO," the actor wrote on Instagram. You can view his post below:
Garfield is being directed by Mark Dindal, who helmed The Emperor's New Groove and Chicken Little for Disney. The screenplay was written by Paul A. Kaplan, David Reynolds, and Mark Torgrove.
Per the studio's official synopsis, "Garfield (voiced by Chris Pratt), the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vic (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson) – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist."

In the ultimate sports and pop culture crossover event, Nickelodeon and CBS Sports will be bringing Super Bowl LVIII to Bikini Bottom, the iconic undersea home to SpongeBob SquarePants, for a kids and family-centric, surprise-filled special presentation of the game, airing exclusively on Nickelodeon, Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. (ET).
In a recent interview with the Paramount Newsroom, Ashley Kaplan, Executive Vice President (EVP) of Unscripted and Digital Franchise Studios for Nickelodeon, talked about what fans can expect from the upcoming Nickelodeon Super Bowl telecast.
"For the last three years, we've brought our characters to the world of football, and for the Super Bowl we're going to bring football down into our world," said Kaplan. "The alternate telecast of the Super Bowl on Nickelodeon will be broadcast from Bikini Bottom, but again, it's live action. The game is still going to have the actual football players, but everything around them will be this hybrid Roger Rabbit-esque animation mixed with live action. It's going to be super cool. We are developing new technology which has never been seen before. It is absolutely groundbreaking for live television."
In the first-ever Super Bowl alternate telecast, SpongeBob SquarePants (voiced by Tom Kenny) and Patrick Star (voiced by Bill Fagerbakke), the newest additions to the Nickelodeon booth, will join CBS Sports analyst Nate Burleson and play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle to call the game. Sandy Cheeks (voiced by Carolyn Lawrence) will make her sideline reporting debut, while Larry the Lobster (voiced by Mr. Lawrence) provides live commentary, and Dora the Explorer (voiced by Diana Zermeño) and Boots (voiced by Asher Colton Spence) help explain penalty calls during the game. NFL Slimetime's Young Dylan and Dylan Schefter will also report live from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev. Additional details on the Nickelodeon Super Bowl telecast including programming and production will be revealed later.
Ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, Christmas will get an extra bout of excitement when Nickelodeon airs the Nickelodeon NFL Nickmas Game on Monday, Dec. 25, at 1:00 p.m. (ET), between the Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs. Burleson and Eagle will be accompanied in the festive AR booth by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Raphael (voiced by Brady Noon) while Schefter is live on the field as sideline reporter and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Donatello (voiced by Micah Abbey) will be seen popping up to explain penalties throughout the game.
The Nickelodeon Super Bowl telecast and Nickelodeon NFL Nickmas Game are produced by CBS Sports in association with Nickelodeon Productions. Sean McManus and Harold Bryant serve as executive producers of THE NFL ON CBS, and CBS Sports' Shawn Robbins is coordinating producer of the games. Production for Nickelodeon is overseen by Ashley Kaplan, executive vice president, Nickelodeon & Awesomeness Unscripted & Digital Franchise Studio; Paul J Medford, vice president of unscripted current series; Luke Wahl, vice president of unscripted creative; and Jennifer Bryson, vice president of production, tentpoles, events & music & specials.
