Netflix has unveiled a new live-action look at Avatar: The Last Airbender featuring Aang, Katara and Sokka, along with flying lemur Momo, riding on the back of Aang's trusty sky bison, Appa. You can see it above and the full poster below which teases the first trailer ahead of tomorrow’s (Nov. 9) release as part of the streamer's Geeked Week.
Kiawentiio (Katara), Ian Ousley (Sokka), Dallas Liu (Prince Zuko) and Gordon Cormier (Aang) make up the cast of the series set to drop in 2024.
Avatar: The Last Airbender is an adaptation of the award-winning and beloved Nickelodeon animated series of the same name. It takes place in a world that is divided into four nations: the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads. “Benders” are people that have the ability to telekinetically manipulate and control the element corresponding to their nation, using gestures based on Chinese martial arts. The “Avatar” is the only individual with the ability to bend all four elements.
Albert Kim (Sleepy Hollow, Nikita) serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer. Alongside Kim, Rideback’s Dan Lin (The Lego Movie, Aladdin) and Lindsey Liberatore (Walker) serve as executive producers as well as Michael Goi (Swamp Thing, American Horror Story). Starring Kelsey Grammer, who reprises his EmmyⓇ Award-winning role as Frasier Crane, the 10-episode first season will premiere in the U.S. and Canada on Thursday, October 12, with two episodes and on Friday, October 13, in all other international markets where Paramount+ is available. FRASIER was filmed in front of a live studio audience at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles. The new series follows Frasier Crane (Grammer) in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and an old dream or two to finally fulfill. In addition to Grammer, the new series stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frasier’s son Freddy; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Frasier’s old college buddy turned university professor Alan; Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, Alan’s colleague and head of the university’s psychology department; Jess Salgueiro as Freddy’s roommate Eve; and Anders Keith as Frasier’s nephew David.
