'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Reveals Look at Young Avatar Kyoshi

Avatar: The Last Airbender has been around for over 15 years, and at this point, fans know its heroes rather well. From Aang to Korea and beyond, the Gaang has fans across the globe. This also goes for Avatar Kyoshi given the character's recent rise in popularity, and now, a new piece of artwork is here showcasing Kyoshi's look as a young woman.

A new image of Kyoshi was released to the public by Avatar Studios (via Avatar News) in honor of the recently released Avatar Generations mobile game. It was there the Earthbender greeted fans as a young woman long before we knew her.

As you can tell, the art of Kyoshi showcases the character without any makeup on, so we can see the Avatar's features with ease. You can see a dusting of freckles on Kyoshi's face, and their brown hair is let down long over their back. Dressed in a simple green dress, Avatar Kyoshi looks just as powerful here as she does when in full Avatar garb. So as you can imagine, fans are obsessed with this special peek into Kyoshi's past.

After all, we do know quite a bit about Kyoshi and their past despite having little reference for their looks. Avatar Kyoshi has been a fixture in Avatar: The Last Airbender since the series kicked off as many know. In recent years, everything from comics to novels has unpacked more about Kyoshi's life. Despite some controversial decisions during their time, Kyoshi is long regarded as one of the most impactful Avatars in the series' history. Now, we have an idea of how Kyoshi looked as a young woman before their signature Avatar look came together. So if you love all things Avatar, savor this gift because they don't come around often!

Paramount to Launch Nick Jr. Channel in Kazakhstan

Paramount International Networks is planning to launch a Nick Jr. channel in Kazakhstan very soon! The channel will broadcast a range of Nickelodeon's beloved preschool series dubbed in Kazakh. The news was announced by the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The news follows Nickelodeon launching an Nickelodeon HD channel in Kazakhstan in April 2022, and has since translated hundreds of hours of Nickelodeon programming into Kazakh.

Since 2021, in order to have children's content broadcast in the state language, a project has been implemented to translate Nickelodeon programming into the Kazakh language. In 2021, 465 hours of Nickelodeon TV channel content was translated, followed by a further 345 hours in 2022.

В 2021 году переведено 465 часов контента телеканала Nickelodeon, а в 2022 году 345 часов выпустили на казахском языке.

Netflix's 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Star Shares First Look at Avatar Roku

Avatar: The Last Airbender has enjoyed a massive comeback in the past few years. After making a return on streaming services such as Paramount+ and Netflix, the franchise welcomed scores of fans into its community as audiences of all ages discovered Aang's charm. These days, all eyes are back on Avatar as the IP is looking to expand with tons of new content. One of these projects is Netflix's upcoming live-action TV series, and one of its stars just gave us an early peek at their character.

And who might the special bender be? It is none other than Avatar Roku! C.S. Lee took to social media earlier this week to share the sneak peek with fans, and netizens are already geeking out.

Over on Instagram, Lee posted the photos in his story, and Avatar fans were quick to save the shot before it disappeared. As you can see above, the photo doesn't show much of Lee in character, but we get to see some important elements. The close-up highlights Goku's iconic grey mustache and beard. So as of right now, fans are confident Netflix nailed this Avatar's facial hair.

This peek at Avatar Roku marks the first we've seen of the character in Netflix's adaptation. Reports confirmed Lee would be playing the Avatar ages ago, so it is nice to see something of his work. And of course, the entirety of Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender has been kept quiet. Filming may have ended last year, but no official character posters from Avatar have been released let alone footage. We don't even have an official release window, but that may change soon.

After all, Netflix has announced its new TADUM event will be taking place in a matter of days. The event will take place in Brazil and stream live across the world on June 17th. A promo for TADUM has confirmed Avatar: The Last Airbender will partake in the event, and it was shortly after this announcement that Lee posted his sneak peek. Hopefully, this means fans will get a good look at Avatar shortly, so we've got our fingers crossed for now! It might not be long before Aang and his entire crew are able to show themselves to fans!

Paramount+ to Premiere New Original Film 'Love In Taipei' This Summer

PARAMOUNT+ ANNOUNCES LOVE IN TAIPEI, A NEW ORIGINAL FILM, TO PREMIERE THIS SUMMER

Based on the New York Times’ Best-Selling Novel Loveboat, Taipei by Abigail Hing Wen, the Film Stars Ashley Liao (Fresh Off The Boat), Ross Butler (Shazam! Fury of the Gods) and Nico Hiraga (Booksmart)

Directed by Arvin Chen and Produced by ACE Entertainment and 1 Productions Film

June 5, 2023 – Paramount+ today announced the acquisition of a new original film, LOVE IN TAIPEI, based on the New York Times’ best-selling novel Loveboat, Taipei by Abigail Hing Wen. In the novel, a young American woman is sent by her parents to a cultural immersion program in Taipei – inspired by an actual program attended by thousands of Chinese and Taiwanese diaspora youth – where she begins a new journey of self-discovery and romance. LOVE IN TAIPEI will premiere this summer exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and Canada, and will also be coming to the service in the UK, Australia, Latin America, Brazil, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and South Korea. Paramount Global Content Distribution will distribute the film, with additional territories to be announced.

LOVE IN TAIPEI will star Ashley Liao (Fresh Off The Boat, The Hunger Games: The Battle of Songbirds and Snakes) as Ever Wong, whose summer takes an unexpected turn when her parents surprise her with a trip to Taipei for a cultural immersion program. Ever is surprised to discover that she hasn’t signed up for homework and history lessons, but instead for a summer-long free-for-all the locals and other students call “Loveboat.” It quickly lives up to its name when Ever finds herself trying not to fall for two attractive but wildly different boys who are vying for her attention, while at the same time finding the courage to defy her parents’ high expectations and pursue her true passion: dancing. 

In addition to Ashley Liao, LOVE IN TAIPEI also stars Ross Butler (Shazam! Fury of the Gods, To All The Boys franchise) as Rick Woo, an infamous sports and scholastic prodigy; Nico Hiraga (Booksmart, Moxie) as Xavier Yeh, a free-spirited artist and heir to an international tech empire; Chelsea Zhang (Daybreak, Titans) as Ever’s friend Sophie, whom she meets at Loveboat; and Cindy Cheung (The Sinner, 13 Reasons Why) as Ever’s Aunt Shu.

LOVE IN TAIPEI is directed by Arvin Chen (Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?) and produced by Matt Kaplan for Ace Entertainment. The film, shot on location in Taipei, is based on the bestselling book Loveboat, Taipei by Abigail Hing Wen, who also serves as executive producer, with the screenplay by Charlie Oh and Mackenzie Dohr. Christopher Foss, Matthew Janzen, Max Siemers, Aubrey Bendix, Cheng-Chung Chang and Ross Butler also serve as executive producers. The production was headed by Ace Entertainment, which purchased the film rights to the novel, financed and oversaw production with 1 Productions Film. Lionsgate handled the film’s sale globally to Paramount+.

HarperCollins published the book series, which continues the journey with Loveboat Reunion and the upcoming Loveboat Forever.

New 'PAW Patrol' Pup Squad Theme Unveiled

A brand new PAW Patrol theme has been revealed!

Australian toy retailer All Brand Toys has started listing PAW Patrol merchandise for a theme titled "Pup Squad". Currently available to pre-order are the PAW Patrol Pup Squad Patroller, PAW Patrol Pup Squad Figures, and PAW Patrol Pup Squad Racers. All three are slated to be released in September 2023.

Not much is currently known about the "Pup Squad" theme.

Paul Brown Appointed New Series Director of 'PAW Patrol'

Paul Brown has been appointed as the new series director of Nickelodeon's beloved preschool series, PAW Patrol. Brown takes over the role from long-time director Charles E. Bastien, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Brown announced the news in a blog post in April, revealing that he had joined the show as the new series director in March, writing: "Paw Patrol is on a ROLL! Exciting news! A few weeks ago, I’ve stepped in as Series Director for the pre-school animated series ‘Paw Patrol’! I’m thrilled to be working with the amazing GURU team and Series Producers SpinMaster (again) to bring the pups into some new and exciting adventures!"

Brown previously served as a director on Nickelodeon's Rusty Rivets, which was also animated by Guru Studio for Spin Master and Nickelodeon, and has also worked in various departments on shows such as Julius Jr., which aired on Nick Jr., Lucas the Spider, Angela Anaconda, Amphibia, and Johnny Test.
