Avatar: The Last Airbender isn't afraid to drop bombshells about its lore, and we've become very aware of that in the last few years. As interest in Avatar has risen so too has the franchise's interest in divulging secrets. While the IP works on its next projects behind the scenes, the Avatar fandom is doing what it can to unearth new details about the series when possible, and a big revelation about the Fire Nation just took the community by storm.
After all, we just got our first look at a familiar Fire Nation princess. The fandom has been given an official first look at Princess Zeisan, the sister of Fire Lord Sozin.
As you can see above, the team behind Avatar shared official artwork of Zeisan, and the reveal marked a first for the princess. After all, we have heard about Fire Lord Sozin's sister before but we never found out what she looks like. All we knew was that Zeisan was averse to the Fire Nation's quest to conquer the world, and the princess ended up finding peace in the air nomad way of life.
If you have never heard of Princess Zeisan before now, you should know the character was introduced outside of the main Avatar series. Their first appearance was marked in the core book of Avatar Legends: The Role-Playing Game which includes canon details about the series. It was there we learned Fire Lord Sozin had a sister who made her Azulon's aunt. And of course, this made her a great-aunt to Iroh and Ozai and so forth.
The Fire Nation royal led a complicated life, and Princess Zeisan shows us what could have happened to Sozin if his bond with the Avatar hadn't frayed to pieces. Now, we know what the heroine looked liked thanks to this key art. And if we are lucky, Avatar will continue to explore the Fire Nation's intricate history as the franchise expands.
It has been a couple of years since word dropped about Avatar: The Last Airbender's return. After making a resurgence in popularity, Aang and the gang became major players in television during the pandemic. Streaming services elevated the team, and now, the team at Avatar Studios is working on a new film featuring Aang's crew. And thanks to the movie's casting call, Avatar: The Last Airbender has some new details to share with fans.
Over on social media, DanielRPK has shared details about the adult Avatar movie casting call with fans. It was there fans were given insight into three familiar characters. After all, the untitled Avatar film will follow Aang's gang as young adults, so the years have changed the team. You can read up on their aged-up biographies below:
Aang – "24, male, from a fictional community inspired by the monastic cultures of Asia. Adventurous, kind, with a youthful exuberance and energy, Aang wants to be everyone's best friend. He prefers to resolve conflict without violence.
Katara – "26, female, from a fictional community inspired by cultures of the First Nations of Canada, Indigenous American and Inuit people. Independent, passionate, and determined, Katara is a young woman with a huge heart who often puts the needs of others ahead of her own. She believes in the goodness and potential of others, even if they don't believe in themselves."
Sokka – "27, male, from a fictional community inspired by cultures of the First Nations of Canada, Indigenous American and Inuit people. Sokka is a charismatic and ambitious man with a wry sense of humor. He's a natural leader and storyteller, and he's always looking to help those around him. Courageous and resourceful, Sokka is not afraid to fight for what he believes in."
As you can see above, the Avatar movie descriptions lay out the fundamentals of Aang, Sokka, and Katara. It seems their personalities will remain unchanged for the most part, but it is clear the trio are more confident in their skills. Sokka appears to come into his own as a leader, and of course, Aang is still balancing his Avatar duties with his tendency to overexcite.
These character bios also confirm the trio's ages. Aang will be 24 years old while Katara comes in at 26 years old. Sokka will remain the oldest at 27 years old, and with these ages, we can figure out where the rest of the gang stands. Zuko should be 28 years old in this film should he appear, and Toph will be 24 years old just like Aang.
And finally, the biggest information Avatar fans have taken from these blurbs is the fact casting is already happening. This gives netizens a better idea of where Avatar Studios is with the project, and of course, it teases the advent of new actors. Jack De Sena voiced Sokka originally while Mae Whitman handled Katara. Zach Tyler Eisen did the voice of Aang, and while his co-stars remain active in the acting business, Eisen stepped away from the profession in 2008. It looks like the upcoming Avatar film may replace the actors of its original gang. And if that is the case, fans can look forward to hearing how the older heroes will sound.
After 500 episodes of Double Dare, it looks like the series may be done for good. Catching up with long-time host Marc Summers at 90s Con this past weekend, ComicBook.com's Chris Killian got the scoop on when fans can expect more of the classic Nickelodeon gameshow. As it turns out, Summers says there may never be another new episode of the show.
"I was told they will never, ever do it again" Summers told Killian. "But there are over 300 episodes on Paramount+ of Double Dare, so you can see me 24/7 there. Apparently a lot of people do, because the checks are pretty good."
First debuting in 1986, the first iteration ran for a staggering 482 episodes between 1986 and 1993. After an extended hiatus, a revival of the show was launched for one season of 67 episodes in 2000 and another iteration between 2018 and 2019. The initial batch of episodes was hosted in entirety by Summers while Double Dare 2000 was hosted by Jason Harris. Liza Koshy then hosted Double Dare 2018, with Summers returning as both executive reporter and on-field host.
Summers also recently had a prominent role in The Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story, a documentary looking back at the channel's 90s-era programming.
The official synopsis for the film reads: "For millions of children and adults, the Nickelodeon Network is synonymous with growing up. In just a few years, the channel grew from a small local channel to an international phenomenon that helped shape a generation. Led by trailblazing visionary Geraldine Laybourne and her commitment to putting kids first, a group of unconventional heroes turned an underdog channel into an $8 billion dollar juggernaut as the golden standard for children's programming."
The Orange Years is now streaming on Hulu while an extensive Double Dare library, and other 90s-era Nickelodeon hits, can be seen on Paramount+. Try Paramount+ for FREE at ParamountPlus.com.

Update (3/21/23) - Are You Ready Kids? Get ready for some nautical fun! SpongeBob, Patrick, and more, are heading to Toybox March 31st!
The Paramount partnership will result in 3D prints based on popular characters and environments from Nickelodeon’s beloved SpongeBob SquarePants franchise. The range is slated to launch in September 2022.
The Toybox 3D printer allows kids to design and print more than 3,000 toys, including space ships, action figures, swords and animals. It retails for US$379 on the company’s online store, where users can also purchase printable licensed characters from kids series including 2D-animated comedies Adventure Time and Teen Titans Go!.
Toybox signed its first licensing deal in 2020, partnering with London-based Beano Studios to develop prints for Dennis & Gnasher: Unleashed. The company followed up in 2021 with two more agreements, one with Warner Bros. Consumer Products for DC Comics and Cartoon Network characters, and another with LA-based animation studio Bureau of Magic for CG-animated fantasy series Lost in Oz.
Toybox has also signed a deal with Universal to release a line of unique 8-Bit designs featuring Illumination’s Minions IP. This range is also expected to be released in September.
More than 2.4 million toys were made using the Toybox 3D printer in 2021, and the company expects that number to double this year, said CEO Ben Baltes in a release.
Hasbro is also attempting to break into the 3D printing market by collaborating with Massachusetts-based Formlabs on a range of Selfie Series action figures that will be out this fall. Kids can use a Hasbro Pulse mobile app to create a 3D print of their own head and then place it on the body of a Ghostbuster, an X-Wing pilot, or a Power Ranger.
