Dante Basco, the voice of young Prince Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005-2008), is returning to voice adult Fire Lord Zuko in the upcoming untitled animated adult Gaang movie, Avatar News is reporting! The new film from Avatar Studios in 2025 is currently slated to be released in theaters on October 10th, 2025.
Dante also previously voiced Zuko’s grandson Iroh II in The Legend of Korra (2012-2014), and you may also know him from his iconic role of Rufio in the 1991 movie Hook. The actor also co-hosts iHeartPodcasts and Nickelodeon's official Avatar: Braving the Elements podcast alongside Janet Varney, the voice of Avatar Korra.
Additionally, it has also been revealed that Avatar Studios is embarking on a global casting call for Asian & Indigenous voice actors in their 20s to find the adult voices of the Gaang.
Specifically, Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph are currently being sought out, with Zuko already being found as mentioned above, and Dante is officially attached to the movie.
They’re looking for Asian actors for Aang and Toph and Indigenous actors for Katara and Sokka (that’s not an exact quote), matching the characters’ cultural inspirations and the live-action casting process from across 2021-2022. All the roles are for the 20s age range, which matches up with previous reports that the Gaang would be young adults in the movie. The exact in-universe year the movie takes place has yet to be officially announced.
These casting calls are specifically for the 2025 adult Gaang movie, and it's currently presumed that these actors will be the new voices for the characters at these ages across Avatar Studios’ whole animated universe. Specifically of relevance is the Zuko movie.

New episodes of Prodigy debut on Thursdays exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S., and on Fridays in Latin America and select countries in Europe. The series is also carried on SkyShowtime in the rest of Europe.
Developed by Emmy(R) Award winners Kevin and Dan Hageman ("Trollhunters" and "Ninjago"), the CG-animated series STAR TREK: PRODIGY is the first "Star Trek" series aimed at younger audiences, and follows a motley crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together while navigating a greater galaxy, in search of a better future. These six young outcasts know nothing about the ship they have commandeered - a first in the history of the "Star Trek" franchise - but over the course of their adventures together, they will each be introduced to Starfleet and the ideals it represents.
In the remaining STAR TREK: PRODIGY season one episodes, as the hopeful crew makes their way toward Starfleet, their dreams are threatened when they discover the U.S.S. Protostar harbors a weapon designed to tear the United Federation of Planets apart. To make matters worse, the U.S.S. Dauntless is on a manhunt for the Protostar as the real Vice Admiral Janeway is eager to uncover what happened to her missing former First Officer Chakotay. With these two ships on a collision course and destruction on the horizon, the fate of the Alpha Quadrant hangs in the balance. New episodes stream Thursdays on Paramount+.

Ben Hibon directs, executive produces and serves as the creative lead of the animated series. Aaron Waltke and Patrick Krebs also currently serve as co-executive producers.

After introducing the world to Star Trek: Prodigy in two blocks of ten episodes each, season 1 of the highly-acclaimed Star Trek series has finally come to a close, and as the series is about beam onto Blu-ray and DVD, Paramount has released a clip from the home release, which you can check out below, courtesy of Screen Rant!
The animated show was created by Kevin and Dan Hageman with the aim of opening the doors of Star Trek to a younger audience and providing established viewers with a new and youthful lens from which to learn more about the universe. From the Fall of 2021 until the end of 2022, Paramount+ and Nickelodeon Animation did exactly that through Star Trek: Prodigy's tale of six alien kids who encountered the USS Protostar and tried to live the Starfleet life alongside a hologram Star Trek: Voyager's Janeway (Kate Mulgrew).
Aside from Mulgrew, who plays the hologram version of Janeway as well as her flesh-and-blood self over the course of the season, Star Trek: Prodigy's main cast includes a mix of veteran performers and several young voice talents. Brett Gray is Dal R'El, a 17-year-old Augment who becomes captain of the USS Protostar as he searches for the truth of his origins. Ella Purnell plays Gwyndala, a teenage Vau N'Akat and linguist who becomes the crew's communications officer. Jason Mantzoukas is Jankom Pog: an argumentative Tellarite and the ship's engineer. Star Trek: Prodigy also stars Angus Imrie as Zero, Rylee Alazraqui as Rok-Tahk, Dee Bradley Baker as Murf, Jimmi Simpson as Drednok, and John Noble as the Diviner.
What To Expect From Star Trek: Prodigy Season 1, Volume 1
In the above clip from Star Trek: Prodigy season 1, volume 1, Gray introduces his character of Dal and describes some of his importance in the major arc of the first season. Dal starts off as a scrappy kid who dreams of liberation, but as the show progresses, he learns about teamwork and leadership. Animation director Jason Meier goes on to describe him as a young cowboy, highlighting how his story and character development are comprised of equal parts comedy and pathos.
The above clip is but one scene from the over 75 minutes of additional footage available in the Star Trek: Prodigy season 1, volume 1 home release. Beyond the first ten episodes of season 1, the Blu-ray and DVD come equipped with never-before-seen bonus content and exclusive cards with key art from the show. The episodes can be viewed with their original English audio, as well as Spanish and French dubs. Fans can purchase their own copy for $17.99 on January 3 before season 2 arrives later this year.
While waiting for Star Trek: Prodigy season 2, Paramount has plenty of other universe-expanding series available. The alternate timeline of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has completed its first season, while Star Trek: Lower Decks provides an altogether different animated experience. Lastly, the final season of Star Trek: Picard will land on February 16.
Star Trek: Prodigy season 1, volume 1 will be available on Blu-ray and DVD beginning on January 3.

PAW Patrol's Rubble is getting his very own show! Rubble & Crew premieres Friday, Feb. 3, at 11:30 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon!
Nickelodeon and Spin Master are building on the global success of the award-winning top-rated preschool series, PAW Patrol, with the launch of Rubble & Crew, a brand-new animated spinoff centered around fan-favorite character Rubble on Friday, Feb. 3, at 11:30 a.m. (ET/PT). Produced by Spin Master Entertainment, Rubble & Crew (26 episodes) follows Rubble and his pup family as they use their awesome construction vehicles to build and repair whatever the town of Builder Cove needs in high-stakes adventures. The series marks the first television spinoff for preschool powerhouse PAW Patrol, which will celebrate its milestone 10th anniversary in 2023. Rubble & Crew will air regularly Fridays at 11:30 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon and continue to roll out on Nick Jr. channels internationally next year.
“Every dog has its day, so we’re answering the fan demand for more of PAW Patrol’s beloved bulldog, Rubble, with his very own series that marks the TV expansion of the global PAW franchise,” said Ramsey Naito, President, Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation. “Rubble & Crew is an all-new series focusing on family and community, and it’s filled with new characters and big adventures that lean into construction play patterns that will let the audience engage in a whole new way.”
“As a proud member of the PAW Patrol, Rubble has stolen the hearts of preschoolers around the world with his loyal, optimistic nature and penchant for treats,” said Jennifer Dodge, Spin Master’s President of Entertainment and Executive Producer. “Our new series expands Rubble’s world with storytelling that digs into amazing construction projects and the importance of family, combined with high-stakes action, fun adventures and messy demolition that preschoolers will love.”
Set in the community of Builder Cove, a neighboring town to PAW Patrol’s Adventure Bay, Rubble & Crew centers on Rubble, the funny and optimistic leader of the construction crew. In the small, quickly growing town, lots of things are still needed for the community to come together, including a bigger airport, train station, bridges, tunnels, schools, fire stations, parks and more. Rubble and his construction pup family--his pup cousins Mix, Wheeler, Charger, Motor, along with Grandpa Gravel and Auntie Crane--must work together to tackle and build all the projects the town needs.
Rubble & Crew will feature occasional appearances by familiar faces from Adventure Bay and introduce the following new characters:
Mix, a construction chemist handling all things concrete, glue, cement and custom paints;
Wheeler, the clean machine for this Builder Cove team, who does not like to get dirty and bolts away to clean up every mess;
Charger, a big energy pup (especially when he gets a case of the zoomies!) who is kind and always eager to help out or dig into a new construction project;
Motor, the tiniest and youngest pup who is a valuable member of the construction crew and looking for ways to be a good helper with her power smash-it energy;
Grandpa Gravel, Rubble’s grandpa, the family kibble chef who supplies the team with snacks from his tasty food truck;
Auntie Crane, Rubble’s auntie, who runs the supply warehouse and makes sure all the pups are loaded up and ready to build;
Speed Meister, who runs the rival construction company in town along with his slow-moving villainous sidekick, Mr. McTurtle--together they build fast and sorta good;
And Mayor Greatway, Adventure Bay Mayor Goodway’s sister, a motorcycle-riding bubbly bundle of friendliness and her pet, Mr. Ducky-Doo.
Following the series launch of Rubble & Crew, PAW Patrol’s 10th anniversary year in 2023 will culminate with the Oct. 13 release of the theatrical movie sequel, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, from Spin Master Entertainment, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies. PAW Patrol was recently renewed for a 10th season (26 episodes) that will follow the PAW-some pack of pups, including Chase, Marshall, Rubble, Skye, Rocky, Zuma, Everest and Tracker, on even more action-packed rescue missions and adventures--whether it’s deep in the unexplored regions of the jungle or out-of-this-world trouble in Adventure Bay. Additionally, PAW Patrol’s Chase will take to the sky once again as a balloon in this year’s 96th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade®.
Rubble & Crew is executive produced by Jennifer Dodge, Ronnen Harary, Laura Clunie, Toni Stevens and Bradley Zweig, and is directed by Dianna Basso and supervising director Joey So. Rubble & Crew was developed by Bradley Zweig based on the original PAW Patrol television series created by Keith Chapman. The series for Nickelodeon is overseen by Eryk Casemiro, Executive Vice President, Nickelodeon Animation, Global Series Content. Jen Pace serves as Nickelodeon’s Production Executive for the series.
Spin Master Corp. (TSX:TOY) is a leading global children's entertainment company, creating exceptional play experiences through its three creative centres: Toys, Entertainment and Digital Games.
