4th January 2024 - Accused
New series | episode 1-5 drop, then new episodes bi-weekly
From Emmy Award-winning producer Howard Gordon, the co-creator of landmark television, such as Homeland, and the showrunner of 24, comes Accused – a collection of 15 intense, topical and exquisitely human stories of crime and punishment. Each episode is a fast-paced provocative thriller, exploring a different crime, in a different city, with an entirely original cast.
Based on the BBC’s BAFTA-winning crime anthology, Accused opens in a courtroom on the defendant, with viewers knowing nothing about their crime or how they ended up on trial. Told from the defendant’s point of view through flashbacks, the show holds a mirror up to current times with evocative and emotional stories. In the end, audiences will discover how an ordinary person gets caught up in extraordinary circumstances, and how one impulsive decision can impact the course of that life – and the lives of others — forever.
The cast for season one includes Rachel Bilson (The O.C.), Academy Award Nominee Abigail Breslin (Zombieland, Scream Queens, Little Miss Sunshine), Megan Boone (The Blacklist), Aaron Ashmore (Killjoys, Warehouse 13, Smallville), Jason Ritter (Raising Dion, Happy Endings), Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad), Emmy Winner Michael Chiklis (The Shield, Gotham), Whitney Cummings (Whitney, 2 Broke Girls), Jack Davenport (The Morning Show, Ten Percent, Pirates of the Caribbean), Emmy Winner Margo Martindale (Justified, The Americans), Emmy Nominee Molly Parker (House of Cards, Lost In Space), Emmy Winner Rhea Perlman (Barbie, Cheers, Star Wars: The Bad Batch), Wendell Pierce (The Wire, Jack Ryan, Suits), Emmy Nominee Malcolm-Jamal Warner (The Resident, Suits, American Crime Story), and more.
Developed by Howard Gordon (Homeland, 24) and executive-produced by Gordon, Alex Gansa (Homeland, 24) and David Shore (House, The Good Doctor), Accused once again fearlessly takes on the hottest topics of our time. Academy Award Winner Marlee Matlin, Emmy Winner Billy Porter, Renowned Indigenous Filmmaker Tazbah Rose Chavez and Emmy Winner Michael Chiklis direct episodes.
5th January 2024 - The Girl Who Escaped: The Kara Robinson Story
New film
While in her best friend’s front yard, 15-year-old Kara Robinson was approached by a man who put a gun to her neck and forced her into his car. He would go on to take Kara to his apartment where he held her captive and sexually assaulted her for 18 hours. While he was asleep, Kara escaped the restraints and his apartment. Even though it was the middle of the night, Kara was able to lead the police back to the apartment’s exact location and identify her captor, a serial killer who was also responsible for at least three other unsolved homicides.
Stars Katie Douglas, Cara Buono, Kristian Bruun, Robert Nahum, Brandon Carl McEwan, John B. Lowe, Gwendolyn Collins, Emily Meadows, Adriana O’Neil, and Lisa Marie DiGiacinto (2023).
17th January 2024 - JUNE
New feature-length documentary
JUNE is a feature-length documentary about country singer/songwriter June Carter Cash. Directed by Emmy® Award-winner Kristen Vaurio (Going Clear: Scientology & The Prison of Belief), the documentary features rare and never-before-seen archival material that reveals the extraordinary life work of Carter Cash and her iconic entertainment career, alongside interviews with the monumental woman herself, as well as family, admirers, and friends including Dolly Parton, Reese Witherspoon, and Willie Nelson.
Produced by Sandbox Productions, Sony Music Entertainment and Maxine Productions (a part of Sony Pictures Television), JUNE shines an important spotlight on the history of country music and the mark the Carter and Cash families made on the genre before diving into the complex life of the legendary June Carter Cash. The five-time Grammy® Award-winning singer, comedian, musician, actor and author has opened for Elvis, appeared onscreen with Robert Duvall and Jane Seymour and co-wrote one of the most recognizable country songs of all time, “Ring of Fire.” Perhaps at times overshadowed by her iconic husband Johnny Cash, she now takes center stage.
JUNE is produced by Jason Owen and Josh Matas for Sandbox Productions, Mary Robertson for Maxine Productions, Sarah Olson and Kristen Vaurio. Executive Producers include Tom Mackay and Krista Wegener for Sony Music Entertainment, Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman for Sony Pictures Television, Jean Song and Chandra LaPlume for Sandbox Productions, Bruce Gillmer and Vanessa WhiteWolf for MTV Entertainment Studios, and John Carter Cash and Carlene Carter. The documentary made its world premiere at the DOC NYC Festival on November 12.
