Paramount Global has announced that it'll be shutting down the Nick App, Nickelodeon's dedicated streaming app.
The news follows Paramount announcing yesterday (Dec. 6) that they'll also be discontinuing the Comedy Central, MTV and Paramount Network apps.
While the Nick App remains live now, an in-app message alerting to the app's closedown reads: "We're saying goodbye to the Nick App. Don't worry - you can watch Nickelodeon anytime through your TV provider or on http://Nick.com. You can also find many Nick movies, shows and more on Paramount+."
Update (2/1) - Paramount officially closed down many of its apps, including the Nick App and Nick Jr. App, on January 31. The Nick App now features the message: "Barnacles, There's Nothing Here... We've said goodbye to the Nick App. Don't worry - you can watch Nickelodeon anytime through your TV provider or on Nick.com. You can also find many Nick movies, shows and more on Paramount+."
Meanwhile, the Comedy Central App now loads the following message: "The Comedy Central App Is No Longer Available". The message adds: "It's not you, it's us. But you can still watch Comedy Central through your TV provider or on CC.com. You can also find many seasons on Paramount+."
The company shut the apps down because of low adoption and usage, with most viewers still checking out the programming through cable or video on demand, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Launched in February 2013, the free Nick App was a branded experience that allowed kids to interact with Nick in unprecedented ways, offering kids instant and on-demand access to more than 1,000 pieces of Nickelodeon-themed content. It included short-form videos of original skits, sketch and comedic bits; behind-the-scenes clips and photos from Nick stars and animated characters; as well as kid polls and newly created games, and allowed kids and families to watch full episodes through their pay-TV subscription.
International variants of the app were also launched under the name Nick Play (Nickelodeon Play), however, these have also been shut down.
