Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2's lead gameplay and character designer has revealed that every character on the roster has seen a rework to their moveset.
After months of leaks and rumor's, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 was finally announced by Ludosity and Fair Play Labs earlier this week, and so far it's looking like a massive improvement on the first game. Not only do the characters look much more polished than they previously did, but it appears that they're all going to play differently too, as it's been confirmed that everyone on the roster has been reworked somewhat.
Over on Twitter, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2's lead gameplay and character designer, Leo Argüello, revealed that each returning character on the roster who was in the original game will have at least a few changes to their moveset, while also keeping "some iconic moves" that the characters are known for.
NASB2: All character movesets have been re-done - keeping some iconic moves while making each character play and feel completely unique!

Argüello said, "NASB2: All character movesets have been re-done - keeping some iconic moves while making each character play and feel completely unique". This is also supported by a section of the game's official website, which notes that "Legendary voice acting talent brings new and returning characters from your favorite shows to the brawl with all-new playstyles and abilities".
We can actually see some clear examples of reworked movesets in All-Star Brawl 2's reveal trailer. For example, SpongeBob's moveset has seen some big changes, like a new ground combo that sees him ending with a big thumbs up, a new heavy side aerial that features a strong karate chop instead of the swinging net, and a head-inflating move as his up-air. His regular special attack, which lets him blow bubbles, also now seems to change depending on how long the button is held down for.
There are lots of smaller examples of moves changing, like Danny Phantom's down-air now being a strong kick downwards, Nigel Thornberry suddenly having the ability to box, and Patrick having a move that features him slamming down his rock. It's clear that each character has seen a lot of changes compared to the first game, but it at least looks like most of the special moves are staying the same as a lot of them can be seen returning in the trailer.
Outside of reworked movesets, it's also already been confirmed that there are several new mechanics coming to the game, such as a special meter that lets you use "super abilities" and a host of new "offensive and defensive" options. We'll likely have to wait for the game's full reveal at EVO next month to see them all in action, though.
