Official artwork for the upcoming game Avatar Generations causes fans to speculate if they just revealed the silhouette of the next Earth Avatar.
Official artwork from the mobile RPG Avatar Generations may have teased the next Earth Avatar.
As reported by Avatar News, an image of a medallion includes the profile of Korra and a mysterious second person. On Twitter, @AirSpeedPrime claimed the picture was one of the Summon Ticket Icons in Avatar Generations, the upcoming mobile RPG. Another Avatar: The Last Airbender fan, @redbluesapphic, suggested the second unidentified profile beside Korra resembled Jet, the former leader of a group of rebels in the original Nickelodeon series.
On Jan. 10, the first gameplay trailer launched for Avatar Generations. The short clip shows that the RPG features a turn-based system with Aang and Zuko at the forefront. Later, characters like Master Pakku, Jeong Jeong, Sokka and Suki appear. In addition to basic combat mechanics, the trailer also showcases Generations' open-world mechanism with a map of the Four Nations. The upcoming game largely follows Aang during the Hundred-Year War. Still, developer Navigator Games has promised future content based on The Legend of Korra and "brand new avatars."
A new series following the events of The Legend of Korra is reportedly in development at Avatar Studios and Paramount. Expected to premiere sometime in 2025, the untitled show may feature a new Earth Avatar, who could receive an animated movie after the series' release date. Alongside the mysterious project showcasing the next Avatar cycle, ATLA will air its first animated movie in the same year. The Gaang film will mark the beginning of Avatar Studios' plans to work on an animated movie and TV series on Paramount+ starting in 2025.
In addition to animated material, Netflix has its live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender in the works. The streaming service has cast several key players in its upcoming ATLA series, including Elizabeth Yu as Princess Azula and Maria Zhang as Suki, a Kyoshi warrior and Sokka's love interest. Additionally, Netflix recruited Raya and the Last Dragon's Thalia Tran to play Mai and Momona Tamada for Ty Lee. Other announced cast members include Casey Camp-Horinek as Katara and Sokka's Gran-Gran and Yvonne Chapman as Avatar Kyoshi.
While the jam-packed ATLA film and television schedule will introduce many new faces, some original actors will also return. James Sie, the original voice actor for the Cabbage Merchant, confirmed his casting in Netflix's live-action adaptation. "Fans will be very, VERY happy," Sie wrote alongside an image of himself wearing a shirt with the caption, "World Famous Ba Sing Se Cabbage." Dante Basco, the voice of Zuko, will reportedly also reprise his role in the upcoming Gaang film.
Avatar Generations is set to launch in early 2023 and will be available on iOS and Android devices as a free-to-play title.
