Are You Afraid of the Dark? is back and scarier than ever! In this new chapter of Nickelodeon's horror anthology series, we follow the Midnight Society for a summer vacation that takes a dark turn when they discover a GHOST trapped on the island. now the Midnight Society must band together to solve the mystery of Ghost Island.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Ghost Island is the third chapter of the beloved horror anthology miniseries based on the ‘90s kids’ cult classic. Produced by ACE Entertainment, the limited series will debut with a two-hour episode on Saturday, July 30, at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon, with the remaining episodes airing Saturday, Aug. 6, and Aug. 13, at 7 p.m. (ET/PT).

The new members of the Midnight Society are: Kayla, played by Telci Huynh (Modern Love, Drama Club); Max, played by Conor Sherry (The Terminal List, The Devil You Know); Leo, played by Luca Padovan (You, School of Rock the Musical on Broadway); Summer, played by Dior Goodjohn (Head of the Class); and Ferris, played by Chance Hurstfield (A Million Little Things, Good Boys). Julian Curtis (Wish Man) also stars as Stanley Crane, the hotel manager at the island resort.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Ghost Island is produced by ACE Entertainment (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before franchise, The Perfect Date), with ACE founder Matt Kaplan and Chris Foss serving as executive producers and Paul Kim as co-executive producer. JT Billings (Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Curse of the Shadows, Panic) serves as executive producer and showrunner. Dean Israelite (Power Rangers, Project Almanac) also serves as executive producer and director for the series.

One of Nickelodeon’s most iconic series from the ‘90s, the original Are You Afraid of the Dark? delivered riveting stories of horror to young audiences, all from a kid’s perspective.  The original Are You Afraid of the Dark? is owned by WildBrain and was created by D.J. MacHale and Ned Kandel, who are also executive producers on the current project.

During an exclusive panel at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2022, the renewal news for a 13-epiosde season three and pickup for 13 additional season two episodes was also announced. The love for ’80s pop culture never fades, and by popular demand, IDW is giving fans what they want with the September debut of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Saturday Morning Adventures, a faithful new comic book inspired by the classic cartoon, shipping monthly and featuring the fan-favorite creative team of writer Erik Burnham and artist Tim Lattie.

In 1987, the world at large was introduced to the TMNT by way of a catchy theme song and action-packed animation. The cartoon’s aesthetic returns in a four-issue miniseries, featuring an all-new set of standalone stories. “I’m no stranger to writing the TMNT for IDW, but this is different,” says Burnham. “The version of the Turtles that exploded onto TV screens in 1987 was the version that I first met, and it brought me a lot of joy…and getting to play in this particular corner of the sandbox has built upon that joy! Humor, action, and plenty of high concepts were packed into each episode, and we’re following that path. I’m not sure if anyone in comics is having as much fun as Tim Lattie and I are with these done-in-one stories!”

Zachary Downer to Feature in 'Blue's Big City Adventure'

Nick News Brief: Actor Zachary Downer will be making an appearance on "Blue's Big City Adventure", the brand new movie inspired by Nickelodeon's beloved animated series, Blue’s Clues & You!, premiering this fall on Paramount+!


Downer was last seen on stage at Stages St. Louis this spring in the world premiere and pre-Broadway run of Robert Kamens/Drew Gasparini's The Karate Kid: The Musical. Earlier this year he opened up the New York City Center's Encores! season in The Tap Dance Kid, and also performed in NYCC's Fall for Dance season prior, in Bob Fosse/Gwen Verdon's Sweet Gwen Suite. Broadway credits include the Tony Award-winning revival of Hello, Dolly! at the Shubert and the 2016 revival of Cats as Mr. Mistoffelees at the Neil Simon. The SpongeBob Team Talks 'Expanding the SpongeBob Universe'

Executive producer Marc Ceccarelli says they want each series to feel "completely different" but still interconnected.


SpongeBob is going from Bikini Bottom to San Diego.

It's been a long time since everyone's favorite cheery undersea fry cook first started flipping burgers on Nickelodeon in 1999. Over the last few decades, SpongeBob SquarePants has expanded well beyond the borders of Bikini Bottom, spawning movies, a Broadway musical, and the spin-off series Kamp Koral (on Paramount+) and The Patrick Star Show (on Nickelodeon).

Now the eponymous yellow sponge is taking over San Diego Comic-Con too. Before SpongeBob's SDCC panel Thursday (moderated by Entertainment Weekly's Patrick Gomez), the cast and creative team stopped by EW's studio to talk about the ever-growing franchise.

"Kamp Koral was the first one because it was a spin-off from the third movie," executive producer Marc Ceccarelli explains. "Nickelodeon wants to keep expanding the SpongeBob universe, so Patrick seemed like the next logical step from that. We want each show to feel completely different, but still be within the SpongeBob universe."

Cast members like Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), and Jill Talley (Karen and Squidina) have been involved with the series for years, but they say they jumped at the chance to explore new corners of Bikini Bottom.

"The fun of the Patrick show is that it's almost like a sketch show, right?" Kenny says. "It's almost like a revue, where Patrick and Squidina and various people in their universe get to spoof different genres and different things. So there's a talk show for a couple of minutes, and then we're spoofing Ridley Scott's Alien for a couple of minutes, and then we're spoofing an outer-space show. It's kind of in and out of everything. We have these Dr. Plankenstein bits that are beautiful stop-motion, like a Rankin and Bass holiday special from 1962. It's incredible, and it's very different from SpongeBob or Kamp Koral. They're all really different from each other, and it's just fun to be those characters in these different milieus."

Each series also introduces plenty of new characters as well — like Nobby and Narlene on Kamp Koral, voiced by Carlos Alazraqui and Kate Higgins. For Talley, one of her favorite parts of working on a series like The Patrick Star Show was getting to share the recording booth with Fagerbakke. "On SpongeBob, we never exchanged dialogue ever, in these 20-something years," Fagerbakke says.

"But being Squidina, I get to work with my big brother, and he's so fun," Talley says with a laugh.

'Rugrats' Star Teases Beautiful Season 2 of Animated Reboot and Special Bond With Grown-Up Fans

The voice actors have finished recording their parts for second run of shows.


The Rugrats team popped by Entertainment Weeky's Comic-Con suite on Thursday (July 21) to reveal they have been hard at work on season 2 of the animated show's revival-reboot.

"We've recorded all 13 of them," said executive producer Eryk Casemiro, "and we're starting to see some of the very first episodes of that season as well, [of] which we'll share a tease, I think, at the panel."

"The CGI is beautiful!" enthused E.G. Daily who voices the character Tommy Pickles on the show.

Daily and Cheryl Chase, who voices Angelica Pickles, also spoke about the emotional responses they receive when they meet fans of the show.

"When the grown-up fans meet me, and they find out who I am, they say, 'You are my childhood! I grew up with you!'" said Chase. "A lot of them, they have hard times growing up and they always say how Rugrats pulled them through, and made them feel like they belonged. Rugrats is such a special family, even if they didn't have a good family growing up in their house, they identified with the Rugrats and wanted to be connected to them."

"To me that's a beautiful thing, to have affected and impacted people," said Daily. "Our episodes are so beautifully-written, they're funny and goofy and they're big and crazy, but they also tap into such beautiful subject matters and different cultures and different religions. I love [that] everybody's included in Rugrats."
