Nickelodeon Conjures Up 'Monster High: The Movie' Character Posters

Nickelodeon Animation has unveiled a fang-tastic first look at the character posters for Monster High: The Movie, which will premiere on Nickelodeon and stream on Paramount + this fall. Check them out below, courtesy of ComicBook.com!










Based on the beloved toy line from Mattel, Monster High: The Movie follows Clawdeen Wolf (Miia Harris, Just Beyond), who was born half human and half werewolf, after she arrives at her new school, Monster High. She quickly makes friends with her classmates Frankie Stein (Ceci Balagot, Dispatches from Elsewhere) and Draculaura (Nayah Damasen, Grey's Anatomy), and for the first time in her life, Clawdeen feels like she has finally found a place where she fits in and can truly be herself, despite keeping her human half a secret. When a devious plan to destroy Monster High threatens to reveal her real identity, Clawdeen must learn to embrace her true monster heart and find a way to save the day.

Monster High: The Movie also stars Case Walker (The Other Two) as Deuce Gorgon; Kyle Selig ("Mean Girls" on Broadway) as Mr. Komos; Marci T. House (Day of the Dead) as Headmistress Bloodgood; Scotch Ellis Loring (Firehouse Dog) as Clawdeen's dad, Apollo; Steve Valentine (Mom) as Draculaura's dad, Dracula; Jy Prishkulnik (Just Beyond) as Cleo de Nile; Lina Lecompte (Death Pursuit) as Lagoona Blue; Justin Derickson (When the Streetlights Go On) as Heath Burns; Lilah Fitzgerald (Honey Girls) as Ghoulia; and Nasiv Sall (Descendants 2) as Abbey Bominable. Additional fan-favorite characters from the Monster High universe will also be seen throughout the movie.

In addition to Monster High: The Movie, an animated series based off the beloved franchise is slated to premiere later this year on Nickelodeon. Both projects join other Mattel Television content in production, including series and specials based on Barbie, Masters of the Universe, Thomas & Friends, Polly Pocket and Fireman Sam, to name a few.  Monster High was first introduced in 2010 with a global fanbase embracing its message of inclusivity. Mattel is currently refueling the franchise and introducing Monster High and its characters to a whole new generation of kids representing the world we live in today.

There is no official release date for Monster High: The Movie yet.

Uma Thurman Fronts Paramount Plus UK Launch Campaign

Paramount Global will stage what it has called “its biggest and most ambitious marketing campaign in the UK” throughout the summer, to herald the launch of its new streaming service, Paramount+, in the region.


Paramount+ will be available in the UK and Ireland from June 22nd. The launch line-up will include exclusive originals, blockbuster films from Paramount Pictures and a wide selection of Paramount’s most iconic shows, including kids’ favourites Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years and PAW Patrol: The Movie, the sci-fi smash HALO, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and The First Lady.

An advertising campaign starring Uma Thurman will see the Hollywood star give viewers a peek behind the iconic Paramount Mountain, to introduce them to the line-up of stars and titles heading to the service.

On television, the spots will be placed around peak time programming on a range of commercial channels, including Channel 5 and its digital portfolio, as well as broadcasters’ VoD services and YouTube.


On cinema screens, the adverts will take premium positioning around some of the most anticipated films of the summer, such as Elvis and Thor: Love and Thunder.

Additionally, Paramount will leverage the reach of its owned and operated platforms in the UK and Ireland to cross-promote Paramount+ content on its free-to-air and pay-TV channels, including Nickelodeon, Channel 5, MTV, and Comedy Central, as well as the streaming services My5 and Pluto TV.

Launch night will see Channel 5 air the opening episode of one of the biggest hits on the streaming service under the banner ‘Paramount+ Presents – HALO’, with viewers encouraged to watch the rest of the series on Paramount+.

In a kind takeover of London’s West End, Paramount will transform the capital’s entertainment district into an homage to its stars, hit shows and entertainment brands. Augmented reality-enabled signage around all major installations will enable fans to interact with Paramount+ content and sign up for the service.


In partnership with Heart of London Business Alliance and Westminster City Council, a variety of large-scale installations and pop ups will include:

  • The Walk of Stars: The streaming service’s answer to the Hollywood Walk of Fame will see more than 50 illuminated stars hung above four West End streets to honour Paramount superstars including Sylvester Stallone, Gillian Anderson, Michelle Pfeiffer and Viola Davis, alongside hit titles like Transformers, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Scream.
  • Paramount+ Experience: A pop-up space in Piccadilly Circus will allow fans to immerse themselves in their favourite films and shows through replica sets, memorabilia, stunt experiences and other opportunities for social amplification.
  • ‘Leicester SquarePants’: Leicester Square will be transformed into Leicester SquarePants, with the beach loving Bikini Bottom resident pitching up in his pineapple home and serving up Krabby Patties and other surprises.
  • ‘Sheridan Street’ makeover: Irving Street will get a Wild West makeover, to honour some of the shows and talent from the Taylor Sheridan TV universe, including Yellowstone and 1883.
  • HALO installation in Piccadilly Circus: Adding to the invasion of the West End, London’s streets will also bring visitors face-to-face with a spectacular scene from the sci-fi hit HALO.

In addition, the Piccadilly Lights screen will feature an extraordinary HALO 3D anamorphic display to complement the large-scale installation on a nearby pavement.

A widespread OOH campaign will also see talent and programming from Paramount+ highlighted in premium, high-impact sites nationwide, including London’s Storm Cromination and the main commuter corridor at King’s Cross Station.

Across the country, prime digital displays have been booked at major travel hubs and shopping centres in major cities, while the transport network will see buses and trams wrapped in the hero shows from the streaming service.

Additionally, Paramount+ will stage a drone show in Hollywood, Birmingham, one of the biggest ever seen in the UK, in partnership with Sky Magic. Plus, a projection of the famous Paramount mountain will be displayed on the lastminute.com London Eye.

Anna Priest, Chief Marketing Officer, UK, at Paramount said of the campaign: “We’ve launched an exciting, ambitious and far-reaching campaign to match the scale of the offering on Paramount+. This campaign is about unleashing the power of our brand and content to local audiences and is the biggest we have ever undertaken in this market. It blends the impact of mass-reach mediums with cutting edge new experiential technologies, like our AR-enabled Walk of Stars in London, the Drone Show in Hollywood, Birmingham and the anamorphic HALO display on Piccadilly Lights. We want visitors to our experiential wonderland to be surprised and delighted by the opportunity to interact with our mountain of entertainment.”

The overall campaign was devised and overseen by Paramount’s Marketing, PR and Creative teams in the UK, in partnership with US colleagues and with support from agency partners, namely, Glass Eye for social media creative work; creative agency New Commercial Arts (NCA); New Stance for influencer marketing; Premier PR for consumer comms & event support, and media agency Wavemaker.

Priest continued: “Our agency partners have brought an abundance of creative ideas and unbridled energy to this project. Each one has worked as an extension of the team here at Paramount and that collaborative approach has been vital to the success of the overall execution of the campaign.”

Users will be able to sign up to the service for £6.99 (€8.30) per month/£69.90 per annum in the UK, after a free seven-day trial. Sky Cinema subscribers will get the bonus of Paramount+ included at no extra cost.

New dedicated YouTube channel for Ukrainian refugee children to launch this summer

  • Sunflower TV to show hit British children’s programmes dubbed into Ukrainian
  • Dedicated ad-free YouTube channel to host up to 200 hours of content
  • Initiative backed by PACT & range of organisations from UK broadcast industry
  • Sunflower TV launches on 1st July
  • Channel aimed at Ukrainian pre-school and primary-school aged Ukrainian children re-settling in the UK & Europe and those still in Ukraine


A new non-profit YouTube channel created specifically for Ukrainian children displaced by the war will launch across the UK and Europe this summer.

Featuring up to 200 hours of Ukrainian and British content, Sunflower TV has been designed to offer entertainment and respite for the children of Ukrainian refugees who have been forced to flee their homes. Nearly two thirds of Ukrainian children have been displaced as a result of the war¹.

Launching on 1st July, initially with about 50 episodes, Sunflower TV will include a range of dubbed British children’s programmes such as Peppa Pig, Go Jetters, Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom, Thomas & Friends, Mr Bean: The Animated Series, JoJo and Gran Gran, and Kit and Pup. The channel will also feature shows produced by Ukrainian producers with titles like Brave Bunnies and Eskimo Girl.

Co-ordinated by PACT, the UK trade body representing the UK’s screen sector, a range of organisations have pulled together to set up the dedicated channel offering programmes for young Ukrainian children who now find themselves living in the UK and Europe as a result of the war and children still in Ukraine.

PACT’s Chief Executive John McVay said: “It’s difficult to imagine the trauma Ukrainian children have suffered as a result of being cruelly uprooted from their homes and communities only to find themselves thousands of miles away living in a country where nothing is familiar.

“Hopefully Sunflower TV can go just a little way in providing them with some kind of light relief or distraction to take their minds off the terrible experiences they’ve been through, even if only momentarily.”

The Ukrainian Institute London is one of many Ukrainian organisations supporting the initiative, providing hands-on advice about how to support the needs of Ukrainians arriving in the UK, and a key principle of the channel is that Ukrainian kids should have free access to enjoy popular UK TV shows - but in their native tongue.

Director of the Ukrainian Institute London, Dr Olesya Khromeychuk, said: “Millions of
Ukrainian families have been displaced as a result of Russia's war against Ukraine.

“Children who have lost their homes, friends, and relatives will certainly benefit from having at least some sense of familiarity by being able to access materials in their native language”.

“And it is important that children don't feel their own language is being drowned out as they
start rebuilding their lives away from home.”

Olga Korol was forced to flee the war and is now focussing her efforts on helping the children and women of Ukraine.

Olga said: “Ukrainian children are now experiencing a very cruel war, a war that will change their lives forever. To support the future of Ukraine and Ukrainian children, a special YouTube channel has been created. The content has been lovingly and carefully selected by some of the best media professionals in the UK with the involvement of child psychologists and Ukrainian mothers. This special YouTube channel will be a wonderful gift for Ukrainian children, a guide to the world of childhood, new knowledge, talents and dreams. See you on Sunflower TV!”

The project has received pan-industry support from a range of key organisations in the creative industries including production companies, broadcasters, distributors and content creators both in the UK and in Ukraine. Organisations involved include: Aardman, All3Media; Banijay; BBC and BBC Studios; Channel 4; Channel 5’s Milkshake!; S4C; Entertainment One; FILM.UA, Fremantle; Glowberry; ITV and ITV Studios; Little Dot Studios; Mattel; Paramount and Nickelodeon; Sky; Starlight Media in Ukraine; STV and YouTube.

More content, such as Enjie Benjy, will continue to be added after the 1stJuly launch date, including additional shows aimed at six to 11-year-olds, increasing to around 200 hours, available for Ukrainian pre-teens in the UK and across Europe.

Other organisations are also urged to make contact if they have content they can offer towards to the new channel. Any organisations which can offer more content to be shown on Sunflower TV should email Deborah Chang at Little Dot Studios at Deborah.Chang@littledotstudios.com. The YouTube channel is after live-action and animated programming, ideally already dubbed in Ukrainian, however Little Dot is exploring the idea of putting displaced Ukrainians to work on dubbing shows that aren’t already available in their language, Chang tells Kidscreen.

John McVay added: “Everyone involved has given up their time and rights to their content for nothing and I’m hugely grateful to the support and enthusiasm all parties have shown in making this happen. It really shows that the creative industries can be a force for good.

“The most important thing is to get Sunflower TV up and running and to make sure Ukrainian families in the UK are aware of this resource for their children.”

¹A recent UNICEF report estimates nearly two thirds of Ukrainian children have been displaced either in Ukraine, or fled across borders, as a result of the war. 

The news follows Paramount Global launching Nickelodeon Ukraine Pluto TV, a 24/7 ad-free free-to-air channel which broadcasts children’s content in the Ukrainian language for Ukrainian children who have been displaced by Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine, which is available on Pluto.tv and select TV providers across Europe, as well as a Nickelodeon Cyrillic YouTube channel.
