'SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off' Introduces 'Slay The Spice' Game Mode
Tilting Point has announced a new game mode for SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off, the studio's popular SpongeBob SquarePants cooking game on mobile. The hit title has been downloaded over 58 million times, and this time, players will have more reasons to whip up a storm in the kitchen with the new game mode, Slay The Spice.
In SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off's latest update, players can experience the wild and wacky world of the beloved Nickelodeon IP on a culinary cruise. They'll go on a road trip with SpongeBob and navigate different kitchen levels as they plan their route. They'll have to go through a branching path of restaurants, with each stop featuring different challenges and lots of bountiful rewards up for grabs.
In case you're not familiar with the hit casual game, SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off lets you fire up the kitchen and unleash your time management skills on the road to becoming the best fry cook under the sea. 'Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers' Features SpongeBob, Jimmy Neutron, Real Monsters and The Smurfs Easter Eggs
Disney has released a new trailer for the upcoming hybrid animated movie Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers that includes a bunch of new footage from the movie, which is set to release on May 20th on the Disney+ streaming service. The film stars John Mulaney as the voice of Chip and Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as the voice of Dale.
It's not unusual for movies, especially ones based on retro franchises, to include the odd Easter Egg or two, whether in-universe or from other titles produced by the studio producing the film, and Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers is no exception, as there a brief reference to the Keyblade from the video game franchise Kingdom Hearts in there.
However, what makes Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers rather unusual is that it includes a number of references to rival network Nickelodeon!
Around the 1:21 mark in the trailer, both Chip and Dale are staring at what appears to be a wall of different bits and bobs from animated characters. The plot of the movie seems to revolve around the disappearance of a former castmate and some kind of weird, body horror-like conspiracy around updating to modern looks. Included in that wall of odds and ends are: The mouth and ears of Ickis from AAAHH!!! Real Monsters, the hair of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, a Smurfs hat, and the Krusty Krab Employee Hat from SpongeBob SquarePants!

There is also a mention of Nickelodeon at the end, when it's revealed that Captain Putty once stormed Nickelodeon Studios.
Additionally, there is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it Ghostbusters reference in the film, in the form of a fan wearing a No Ghosts tee.
As noted above, Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers is set to release on Disney+ on May 20th. It stars John Mulaney as the voice of Chip and Andy Samberg as the voice of Dale as well as a number of other actors like KiKi Layne, Will Arnett, Eric Bana, Flula Borg, Keegan-Michael Key, Tress MacNeille, J.K. Simmons, and more. It is directed by Akiva Schaffer and written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand.

Paramount Launches Nickelodeon HD Channel in Kazakhstan
Paramount International Networks has launched a Nickelodeon HD channel in Kazakhstan! The channel broadcasts hit Nickelodeon shows in Kazakh, many of which will have Kazakh dubs for the first time thanks to a massive content localisation project. The channel is available on operators such as Alma TV and tvcom.
To go along with the launch, Nickelodeon HD Kazakhstan has launched an official website, https://nickelodeonhd.kz, which features information about the new channel and the shows viewers can find on it, and where they can find the channel. The website is available in Kazakh and Russian.
According to the company, along with the expansion of the Nickelodeon brand presence in Kazakhstan and a significant increase in the audience of its programs in the Kazakh language, the licensing of Nickelodeon characters for consumer goods will also receive an additional incentive. National manufacturers will be able to use world-famous characters to produce and widely promote branded products for children and families.
“Kazakhstan is a strategically important market for us,” says Elena Balmont, Senior Vice President of Paramount International Networks in the CIS and Baltic countries. “There are now eight Paramount TV channels that reach viewers of all ages present in Kazakhstan, but also for the first time in the history of our brands will bring our favourite children's characters as close as possible to the audience speaking this language. With the support of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, we were able to quickly translate and professionally voice hundreds of hours of original content, the volume of which will increase. Kazakhstan Releases Nickelodeon and TiJi Cartoons in Kazakh
NUR-SULTAN – The Nickelodeon HD TV channel, a local version of the American TV channel, broadcasting cartoons, entertainment, sports, and music programs in Kazakh, was presented on May 18 at the Central Communications Service in Nur-Sultan, reported the Ministry of Information and Social Development.

Approximately 800 hours of cartoons have been translated into Kazakh, while 354 episodes are expected to premiere by the end of the year. The channel, whose content has been created for preschoolers, primary and secondary school audience, and teenagers so far, is now available on the Alma TV and TV Commerce telecom services.
Initiated by the ministry in 2021, the project seeks to promote the state language among the younger generation. “The launch of the new channel will help to increase children’s interest in the state language learning and its correct use, as well as have an educational impact on children and teenagers,” said Vice Minister of Information and Social Development Daniyar Kadirov during a May 18 briefing.
Maria Kosareva, who serves as Paramount Global Vice President for Entertainment and Kids Brands Development in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Baltic states, added that Nickelodeon will foster the improvement of emotional intelligence due to their interesting block programming.
Commenting on the channel’s content for the pre-school audience, Kosareva noted the importance of songs. “It is very important that the characters sing in the local language. Approximately 70 minutes of songs have been translated, that is a lot,” she said.
Along with the Nickelodeon HD TV channel, a Kazakh version of the French TiJi TV channel was presented earlier to mark the Year of Children. The TiJi TV channel is available on Alma TV, TV Commerce, Kazakhtelecom, PRK Fermata, Kainar Media, Teralain and TTK.
While explaining the reasons for choosing Nickelodeon and TiJi, Kadirov said that the ministry considered the outcomes of sociological surveys and the popularity of cartoons.
“According to the results of the research, Balapan TV channel ranked first, where the content is mainly broadcast in Kazakh, followed by Nickelodeon and TiJi TV channels. Cartoon Network, Karusel and Malysh TV channels were the last in the rating,” said Kadirov.
Acting Chair of Kazakhstan Institute of Social Development Kazbek Maygeldinov said the content of Nickelodeon and TiJi was examined for its impact on the psyche of children.
Launched in 1979, Nickelodeon is represented in nearly 180 countries, while its characters speak more than 40 languages.
TiJi was launched later in 2000 and became the first TV channel in Europe created specifically for preschoolers. It is represented in 20 countries and its content is translated into 14 languages.

Nickelodeon Honored With Corporate Ally Award at 2022 GLSEN Respect Awards
Nickelodeon was recently honored at this year’s GLSEN Respect Awards!
First established in 2004, the annual GLSEN Respect Awards honor individuals and companies that have made significant impact in bettering the lives of LGBTQ youth. This year’s ceremony saw Nickelodeon receive the Corporate Ally Award, given to companies that have made queer youth impact a priority.
“The important work that GLSEN does for LGBTQ+ youth is critical to ensuring an inclusive and affirming learning environment for all kids,” Marva Smalls, Executive Vice President (EVP) of public affairs at Nickelodeon, said in a statement to Variety in April. “Nickelodeon is honored to be recognized by GLSEN, and we look forward to continued collaborations as we strive to create content that supports and empowers LGBTQ+ youth.”
In recent years, Nickelodeon has broadcast several television shows that feature prominent LGBTQ+ characters and queer themes including Danger Force, which features openly trans actor Michael D. Cohen in the cast; The Loud House, which has several queer characters in its ensemble such as a gay male couple raising a child and Luna (Nika Futterman), a bisexual 15 year-old; and Power Rangers: Dino Fury, which introduced the first openly queer character in the long-running superhero franchise. In addition, Nickelodeon has repeatedly partnered with LGBTQ organizations like GLSEN for staff inclusivity training and support. Recently, the two organizations teamed up to develop a toolkit for parents and educators to combat LGBTQ discrimination.
“Conversations focused on discrimination and hate can be challenging at any age,” GLSEN executive director Melanie Willingham-Jaggers said. “Nickelodeon has been a leader in starting conversations around LGBTQ+ inclusivity and understanding for parents, students, and families both internally and through groundbreaking programming and resources. GLSEN is proud to honor Nickelodeon for their ongoing leadership to create a more colorful and inclusive world for LGBTQ+ students of all ages.”
Antoni Porowski, best known as a co-host for , also received this year’s Champion Award.
The 2022 GLSEN Respect Awards ceremony took place on Monday, May 16 at the Gotham Hotel in New York City. Star Trek: Discovery star Wilson Cruz hosted the event and serves as a co-chair alongside Joseph Carozza, Amita Mehta, Michel Mercure, Ryan Pedlow, Elizabeth Stribling-Kivlan and Alicin Reidy Williamson. Hollister served as the presenting sponsor for the ceremony.

Since 1990, GLSEN has improved conditions for LGBTQ+ students across the United States and helped launch an international movement to address LGBTQ+ issues in education.
