Puzzles, Problem Solving And Preteen Adventures. Rock Island Mysteries Makes A Splash Down Under.
Brand New Australian Series, Rock Island Mysteries Premieres Monday, 2 May At 5pm On 10 Shake And 10 Play On Demand.
Shot on the sun-drenched beaches and jungle-like hinterlands of Australia’s Gold Coast, Rock Island Mysteries (20 episodes) is a mystery drama comedy series that follows the adventures of 14-year-old Taylor and her friends as they explore the secrets of the beautiful and mysterious Rock Island.
Produced by Fremantle Media, the new teen series will make its global premiere in Australia on Monday, 2 May at 5pm on 10 Shake and 10 Play. The series will then debut across Nickelodeon Australia and New Zealand from June 2022 and broadcast to global audiences on Nickelodeon International later in the year.
Featuring a diverse main cast anchored by Australian leads, the series follows the adventures of Taylor Young (Alexa Curtis), a charismatic and energetic leader, and her tight-knit group of friends – Nori Harlow (Noah Akhigbe), Meesha Rai (Inessa Tan), Ellis Grouch (Ryan Yeates) and step-sister Lila Gray (Izellah Connelly) – as they explore the mysteries of the island on which they live, fuelled by Taylor’s fascination with her Uncle Charlie’s disappearance, and determination to find out what happened to him. Joining the young cast are adults Kimberley Joseph, Craig Horner, Monette Lee, Annabelle Stephenson, and Lucas Linehan.
Every episode sees the gang tackle a new mystery, spurred on by Taylor’s irrepressible desire to uncover the inexplicable side of the Island and the true whereabouts of Uncle Charlie.
A tight and sometimes chaotic team of contrasting personalities, the gang are all drawn into Taylor’s quests, each member bringing something unique to the mix, be it Nori’s witty and rational practicality, Meesha’s gutsy, never-say-die attitude, Ellis’ book smarts and technical know-how, or sassy Lila’s loyal and sisterly devotion to Taylor.
"Taylor and her group of friends are living what seems to be the perfect island life with sun-soaked beaches and jungle-like hinterlands. But underneath that perfect facade lies a hotbed of cryptic riddles, thrilling legends, and unexplainable mysteries waiting to be unravelled. Fuelled by her fascination with her Uncle Charlie’s disappearance five years earlier, Taylor is the determined leader in pursuit of the truth. Alongside Taylor, there’s Nori, a wisecracking rebel who’s got an answer for everything; Meesha, a toughas-nails sports nut who’s up for anything; Ellis, a hypochondriac who’s the brains of the group; and Taylor’s stepsister Lila, an aspiring vlogger who adores her older sister. With a determination to leave no stone unturned, the five best friends jump head first into a series of intriguing mysteries and nail-biting adventures through ancient caves, remote islands and eerie jungles."
Rock Island Mysteries was previously announced as Taylor’s Island and is a Fremantle Media production for Paramount Australia and Nickelodeon International, with major production funding from Screen Australia and support from Screen Queensland. The series was produced at Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast.
The series was created by Matthew Cooke, Vincent Lund and Michael Ford. Writers are Stephen Vagg, Sam Carroll, Alix Beane, David Hannam, Marisa Nathar, Natesha Somasundaram, Trent Roberts, Jessica Brookman and Hannah Samuel. Tenika Smith, Jovita O’Shaughnessy and Evan Clarry direct.
