Paramount is slated to debut its first set of Nickelodeon NFTs (non-fungible tokens) very soon
Nickelodeon is about to dive into the metaverse with the release of its first batch of NFTs in partnership with RECUR, and in preparation of the launch this summer, Nick and RECUR have launched info.nickelodeon.xyz, which will serve as the online portal to access Nickelodeon's iconic IP and cherished franchises in the form of non-fungible tokens.
The first batch of Nickelodeon NFTs will be retro themed, with a focus on beloved Nickelodeon properties from the '90s, such as Rugrats and Hey Arnold!.
The Nickelodeon NFT portal currently features a form to signup to the portal's newsletter, as links to the Nickelodeon NFT community on Twitter and Discord.
"We searched the depths of your childhood basements, attics, and thrift stores to gather all the 90's Nick nostalgia we forgot we needed—until now. Nickelodeon NFTs are coming soon so stay tooned," reads the site.
Nickelodeon and RECUR will also present the Splat Factory in partnership with Polygon Studios at NFT NYC. There will be a Nickelodeon Take-Over w/ Recur event each day between June 21-23.
The news follows Paramount announcing a strategic partnership with leading non-fungible token (NFT) company RECUR last year to create a fan-focused platform that will bring the company’s iconic IP and cherished franchises that transcend generations to the web3 space. Through this agreement, Paramount and RECUR created Paramount.xyz, a unified environment where fans can buy, collect and trade NFTs as digital products and collectables across Paramount's leading portfolio of consumer brands, including Nickelodeon, BET, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Paramount Pictures and Showtime Networks Inc. Currently, the Paramount NFT portal offers Star Trek and Top Gun: Maverick NFTs.

Earlier this year, Paramount applied to register the trademark for SpongeBob SquarePants NFTs with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), with the application still pending.
The news also follows Funko releasing Nickelodeon NFTs earlier this month, which sold out within hours. However, SpongeBob was missing from the first wave.
