Preschoolers will enter a fantastical prehistoric world in the brand-new animated series, Kiri and Lou, premiering for the first time in the U.S. on Monday, June 13, at 6 p.m. (ET\\/PT) on the Nick Jr. channel. The award-winning New Zealand stop motion series follows the friendship between Kiri, a feisty little dinosaur, and her best friend Lou, a gentle and thoughtful creature, as they explore the world of feelings through laughter, song and outdoor adventure. Nickelodeon has acquired season one (20 x 5-min eps) and season two (32 x 5-min eps) from CAKE for the U.S. with season three (42 x 5-min eps) premiering on Nick Jr. later this year.

Original and imaginative, Kiri and Lou helps kids learn about empathy, friendship and how to get along, through warm-hearted and humorous stories. Handcrafted in paper and clay and created using traditional stop motion animation from Antony Elworthy (Coraline, Corpse Bride and Isle of Dogs), Kiri and Lou is voiced by Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) and Olivia Tennet (Lord of the Rings), and written and directed by feature film director Harry Sinclair (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring), co-produced by Heather Walker of Yowza Animation, and produced by Fiona Copland for Stretchy.

In the series premiere, "Yum Yum Baronies/Super Sticky Situation/Who Is Sleepy Now/Small," Kiri and Lou are going to have a feast of their favorite fruit & yum yum baronies, but Lou loses control and eats them all before Kiri can have any. Then, Lou wakes up to find himself on a lily pad in the middle of the lake. He relaxes when his "calm inner voice" comes to the rescue. After, Kiri and Lou can't sleep and Pania says she'll sing them a song, as long as they stay awake for the whole thing. Finally, Kiri and Lou meet a shy little creature called Small. It turns out she's a fan, and she has even written a song about them.

Following the series premiere of Kiri and Lou, NickJr.com and the Nick Jr. App will feature short-form content and full-length episodes. Episodes will also be available on Nick Jr. On Demand and Download-To-Own services.

Nick Jr., the 24-hour network from Nickelodeon dedicated to preschoolers and parents, features an extensive slate of hit series, including PAW Patrol, Blue's Clues & You!, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Peppa Pig, Ryan's Mystery Playdate, Bubble Guppies, Butterbean’s CafĂ©, Team Umizoomi, Abby Hatcher and Shimmer and Shine. Kiri and Lou follows the friendship between Kiri, a feisty little dinosaur and Lou, a gentle and thoughtful creature, as they explore the world of feelings through laughter, song and outdoor adventure. Original and imaginative, Kiri and Lou invites children to learn about empathy and how to get along, through warm-hearted and gently humorous storylines which are resonating with audiences of all ages.

"In a forest of cut out paper and with creatures made of clay, Kiri, a feisty little dinosaur with overpowering emotions and Lou, a gentle and thoughtful creature, may seem unlikely best friends. Joined by motherly Pania, sensitive Dalvanius and Sorry, a small but extremely fast little animal who cares about everyone’s feelings, Kiri and Lou invites children to learn about kindness, empathy and how to get along, as together they navigate a forest of feelings with laughter, song and adventure."

Hand-crafted in paper and clay and created using traditional stop motion animation from Antony Elworthy (Coraline, Corpse Bride, Isle of Dogs), Kiri and Lou is voiced by Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords, Moana, Rio) and Olivia Tennet (Lord of the Rings), is written and directed by feature film director Harry Sinclair.

Yum Yum Baronies: Before Kiri is able to experience any, Lou loses control and eats all of their favourite fruits: the yum yum baronies;

Who Is Sleepy Now?: Pania offers to sing a song to Kiri and Lou when they have trouble falling sleep, but says they have to stay awake for the whole song.

Small: Kiri and Lou encounter a little creature that has written a song for them where. They learn more about themselves after they listen to the song.

Kiri and Lou is produced by Fiona Copland for animation brand Stretchy and Heather Walker of Yowza Animation (Welcome To the Wayne, Curious George). CAKE handles international sales for the series.

In 2020, Kiri and Lou won a silver award at The Prix Jeunesse, Cynopsis Best of the Best Award for Best Nature-Focused Preschool Series and Best Preschool Series at the Asian TV Awards. It has also been nominated at the Chicago Children’s Film Festival as well as NYICFF.
