Cosmetics brand Colour Pop releases a new line of makeup products inspired by the Four Nations of Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Cosmetics brand Colour Pop has released a new makeup line with all the colors of the Four Nations from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The Los Angeles-based cosmetics company features the new line on their site dedicated to the popular animated series. "Bring balance between the humans and the spirits. Enter the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender with our NEWEST collection! This official Avatar and ColourPop Collection delivers a magical set of airbending makeup must-haves!" reads the item's description on Colour Pop's website. "Includes the Avatar Pressed Powder Palette, Fresh Kiss Glossy Lip Stains, BFF Creme Gel Liners, Super Shock Highlighters and Fourth Ray Beauty lip and face masks. Plus the cutest Appa hand mirror!"
The Four Nations in Avatar: The Last Airbender represent the four classical elements: earth, fire, air and water. Benders of the various nations can control the element associated with their nation, but only the Avatar is capable of bending all four elements. The makeup line features three different eye shadow colors for each of the four elements and their corresponding nations, as well as different colored eyeliners for each nation.
The palette, designed to "open up like a storybook," uses "elemental hues" to represent different aspects of the Avatar universe. Specific characters are also honored: "Our Glossy Lip Stain shades honor Suki and the Kyoshi warriors, plus features an Uncle Iroh Jasmine Tea Overnight Lip Mask and many more Avatar surprises you’ll just love."

Avatar: The Last Airbender ran for three seasons on Nickelodeon, followed by four seasons of its spinoff series, The Legend of Korra. While the original version of The Last Airbender was animated, a live-action adaptation is in production at Netflix. The budget for the eight-episode first season of Netflix's Avatar is running over $120 million. The series had previously been adapted into a live-action film directed by M. Night Shyamalan in 2010, although its was not well received by either critics or fans.
A recently released role-playing game, Avatar Legends, has been giving fans new insights into the world of the two series. The core book for the game introduced several new historical elements to the world, including the history of chi-blocking and the history of the Dai Li. Additionally, the core book introduces some of the franchise's first gender non-conforming characters, including a transgender character who may have invented spiritbending. Other media, including novels such as The Shadow of Kyoshi, give even more detail about how bending works, even detailing how it can be affected by the environment.
