“With Baby Shark’s Big Show!, the Nickelodeon Animation Studio team has taken the most popular song on the planet and created a whole new world of characters,” said Eryk Casemiro, Senior Vice President, Nickelodeon Preschool. “It’s a series that celebrates family, friends and adventure through comedy, catchy songs and stories of social-emotional learning.”
In the series premiere, “Baby Tooth/Slobber Slug,” Baby Shark gets his first loose tooth and enlists William’s help to lose it so he can trade it in for a sand dollar. When their antics get the tooth lost for real, they must team up with the Toothfish Fairy to track it down. Then, while Baby Shark and his friends are playing Barnacle Ball, Hank’s pet rock, Rocky, is accidentally sent soaring into the lair of the vicious Slobber Slug and they must stage an elaborate rescue mission.
The U.S.-English dub of Baby Shark’s Big Show! features a swim-sational lineup of voice actors: Kimiko Glenn (Orange is the New Black), as Baby Shark; Luke Youngblood (Glitch Techs, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone), as William; Natasha Rothwell (Insecure), as Mommy Shark; Eric Edelstein (Hotel for Dogs, Pig Goat Banana Cricket, We Bare Bears), as Daddy Shark; Debra Wilson (MADtv), as Grandma Shark; and Patrick Warburton (Tak & the Power of Juju, The X's, Seinfeld, Family Guy), as Grandpa Shark.
Pinkfong Baby Shark launched on YouTube in November 2015 and took the world by storm, amassing 8 billion views and becoming the most-watched video in the platform’s history. With music, characters, story and dance all combined together, the song certified RIAA Diamond and 11x platinum single for selling over 11 million units in the U.S., and spawned a viral phenomenon #BabySharkChallenge, generating over one million cover videos around the globe.
Baby Shark’s Big Show! is executive produced by Gary “Doodles” DiRaffaele (Breadwinners) and Tommy Sica (Breadwinners), with Whitney Ralls (My Little Pony: Equestria Girls) serving as co-executive producer. The series is produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, Calif., with production overseen by Eryk Casemiro, Senior Vice President, Nickelodeon Preschool.

iCarly REBOOT: Miranda Cosgrove Reveals If Jennette McCurdy Has WATCHED the Revival! | Entertainment Tonight
Miranda Cosgrove recently opened up to Entertainment Tonight about why the new iCarly revival continues to honor Carly and Sam's friendship and if Jennette McCurdy has watched the new show. In 2017, McCurdy announced her retirement from acting. Plus, the 28-year-old star dishes about her role as a producer on the new Paramount+ series and how much fun she's having while calling the shots! iCarly airs Thursdays on Paramount+. Try it FREE at ParamountPlus.com.
The iCarly star spoke with Entertainment Tonight's Leanne Aguilera about her and co-star Nathan Kress' character's relationship status on the Paramount+ reboot. Fans couldn't get enough of the two besties on the new episodes, with many hoping that they will end up together.
"I'm really surprised that the fans are still so passionate about who they want Freddie to end up with and just all of that," Cosgrove expresses. "It kind of cracks me up a little bit. But also, we want to do right by all the fans."
However, she does note, "I don't think that Carly and Freddie are going to make a decision or end up together anytime soon. But it's definitely really fun to do those stories where we get to be together...I like Carly and Freddie's relationship, and Nathan's so much fun to work with in real life. So we had a really good time."
"They might be end game. They might have to be," teases the leading lady, adding, "Anything's possible. It's always so fun starting a new season too because I never even know what the storylines are going to be. So I'm waiting to find out what crazy stuff we're going to be up to [next] season."
The iCarly reboot picked up nearly 10 years after the original Nickelodeon show ended, finding original influencer Carly Shay and her friends navigating work, love and family as adults. Joining Cosgrove were original cast members Kress and Jerry Trainor as Carly's brother Spencer. Newcomers included Laci Mosley as Harper, Carly's roommate, and Jaidyn Triplett as Millicent, Freddie's stepdaughter.
And as the first season wraps up, what can fans expect from the final episodes?
"So from the season finale, there are a lot of love interests and arcs going on with relationships," Cosgrove shares. "Pretty much every character on the show for the last few episodes is in some kind of a relationship. So I would say that's the most fun, exciting thing. It all is leading up to us going on a trip together, all in relationships and a bunch of crazy stuff is going to ensue."
Cosgrove, on her end, has had a blast playing an adult Carly Shay and touching on more mature topics.
"It's been so much fun because so many of the storylines are storylines we could have never done in the original series," she admits. "I tend to like those the most, just because it's exciting to do something we couldn't do before. One of the episodes that just aired, it's called 'Girls Trip,' that was one of my favorites because we definitely could have never mentioned a threesome on the old show."
The actors are also taking on new roles, with Cosgrove getting more into the behind-the-scenes of the show's production and Kress directing.
"I'm having a really good time getting to produce because I'm getting to edit for the first time, which I've never done before," Cosgrove says of her additional work on the show. "And it's also really fun reading all the scripts, and even before the ideas turn into scripts, weighing in on all that. So I'm really having a good time doing that."
"I feel like directing is definitely more of Nathan's thing. He was amazing. It was truly awesome getting to see him do it because I have known him since we were little and I feel like he has such a brain for directing," she notes of Kress. "He was so organized and so excited and coming up with ideas for all the scenes, like adding extra things he even came up with. So it was just so much fun. And I know he's going to direct more next season."
Watch ET's exclusive interview with Cosgrove -- including her sharing why the reboot continues to mention Jennette McCurdy's character, Sam and whether or not McCurdy has watched the new series -- in the videos below. Catch new episodes of iCarly every Thursday on Paramount+.
Parents of Young Children are Very Concerned about Keeping Kids Healthy from COVID, Social-Emotional Development, as New School Year Begins
Families can text the word HEART to 274 448 for expert tips and activities by text message to support social-emotional learning, transition back to school
DENVER, Aug. 19, 2021 -- According to a new national survey of more than 400 parents with children ages 2-8, three-quarters of parents say they are concerned about their children's social and emotional learning, and the majority of parents are not comfortable with sending their children to school in person this fall. Only 26% of respondents said they were comfortable with in-person schooling, and 95% reported concern over their child catching COVID.
The survey, conducted this week by Bright by Text and Big Heart World, was shared via text message with parents across the country as school systems begin to open for the new school year.
Many parents said they are nervous about school protocols, including lack of mask mandates, large class sizes, and fewer options for remote learning. Parents remain concerned about community events as well, with only 10% of parents saying they are comfortable participating in indoor events with their children without masks; 48% being comfortable with indoor events if participants are masked; and 15% of families reporting not being comfortable with any group activities at this time.
Another top concern was children's social-emotional development. Parents reported more concern over social-emotional development than academic learning. Seventy-five percent of parents said they were concerned about their children's social and emotional learning, compared to 58% of parents who said they were very concerned or a little concerned with academics this school year. Only 31% of respondents indicated they were "very confident" in helping their child with social-emotional learning.
Earlier this summer, Bright by Text and Sparkler Learning launched a Big Heart World texting campaign to send parents and caregivers actionable tips to help them support their young children's social and emotional learning — a timely need right now.
Families with children ages 2-8 who want to receive the text messages can text HEART to 274 448. These messages — free and available in either English or Spanish — help parents guide their kids to grow big hearts, answer big questions, and support their children's healthy social and emotional development. The HEART campaign is fueled by Big Heart World, a social and emotional learning initiative presented by Sparkler in collaboration with Noggin, Nickelodeon’s interactive learning service for preschoolers.
The majority of survey respondents say that as a result of these text messages, they have talked to their children about a social-emotional topic (such as feelings, friends and diversity) and have tried an activity from the messages with their child.
Families who opt in to the service will also receive information from trusted organizations in their area, such as children's hospitals and health departments, with information about events, resources and keeping their children healthy.
"We know that text messages work: 95% of Bright by Text subscribers say our messages make them a more confident caregiver," said Jean McSpadden, President and CEO of Bright by Text. "We are proud to work with Big Heart World and other partners to address parents' biggest concerns as kids get back to school this year."
About Bright by Text
Bright by Text, a national non-profit, sends free text messages to parents and caregivers across the country to give every child the brightest possible start in life. Messages are timed to a child's exact age, prenatally through age 8, and offered in both English and Spanish.
Big Heart World is a social and emotional learning initiative produced by Sparkler Learning in collaboration with Noggin, Nickelodeon's interactive learning services for preschoolers, that enables parents and educators to help children explore what it means to have a "big heart" and how to grow one. Big Heart World brings together partners, including Bright by Text, Too Small to Fail, the National Head Start Association, First Book, School Library Journal, and many others to help parents, caregivers, and educators support children's social and emotional growth.

Iowa-born actor Kate Mulgrew is set to reprise her Star Trek: Voyager character Captain Janeway in Nickelodeon and Paramount+'s upcoming CG-animated Star Trek series, Star Trek: Prodigy.
In an exclusive interview with Forbes, Mulgrew, who is currently in London shooting the Alex Kurtzman sci-fi series The Man Who Fell To Earth, talked about returning to the Star Trek universe and reprising her iconic role that influenced multitudes of S.T.E.M. students to pursue careers in science and aerospace, and how she hopes that the new series will inspire more girls to pursue careers in those subjects.
Frobes: You’ve got Star Trek: Prodigy coming up where you get to reprise your Janeway character. How did you feel about returning to that role and did you have any concerns about how she would be written?
Mulgrew: At first I was a little uncertain. That was a huge chapter in my life and it changed my life. The character of Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager made television history and had quite an impact on women, particularly women in S.T.E.M. When the (Prodigy series) was brought to my attention by the aforementioned Alex Kurtzman, I hesitated for a second because I’d already done it. And then I thought about it over a number of weeks. I asked him to indulge me and he did. I thought, “If I can bring that feeling to young girls, to children, how gratifying would that be?” It’s the only demographic that’s missing, that we haven’t yet reached. So, the best way of doing that, of course, is in animated form.
(Brothers) Kevin and Dan Hageman are the creators and the writers under Kurtzman. They’ve done such a magnificent job; the animatics have blown me away. Kids are going to be enchanted and captivated. They’re going to see this animated Kathryn Janeway and they’re going to love her, just as they’re going to love all the other characters which are so brilliantly depicted. I’ve been working on it now for over a year and I’m having a ball. Suffice it to say, when there’s joy, there is usually goodness. Therefore, I’m hoping there will be success because it’s been a very joyful experience.
Elsewhere in the interview, Mulgrew talked about how kids have found it hard to get into the franchise: "Children have never really understood Star Trek because it’s never been written to be understood by children. So, the best way of doing that, of course, is in animated form."
You can read Mulgrew's full interview with Forbes on forbes.com.
Developed by Emmy® Award winners Kevin and Dan Hageman (Trollhunters and Ninjago) the CG-animated series STAR TREK: PRODIGY is the first Star Trek series aimed at younger audiences and will follow a motley crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together while navigating a greater galaxy, in search for a better future. These six young outcasts know nothing about the ship they have commandeered – a first in the history of the Star Trek franchise – but over the course of their adventures together, they will each be introduced to Starfleet and the ideals it represents.
Star Trek: Prodigy was first announced in July of 2020, with Kate Mulgrew’s involvement being revealed in October. The series will star Brett Gray as Dal, Angus Imrie as Zero, Jason Mantzoukas as Jankom Pog, Ella Purnell as Gwyn, Dee Bradley Baker as Murf, Rylee Alazraqui as Tok-Tahk and Kate Mulgrew as she returns as a holographic Kathryn Janeway, serving as the starship’s (U.S.S. Protostar NX-76884) built-in emergency training hologram.
The 10-episode first season of the series is expected to premiere later this year on the Paramount+ streaming service, and will air on Nickelodeon soon after. It will be broadcast on the CTV Sci-Fi Channel in Canada and will be available on a delay through Sky TV and Paramount+ in Europe in 2022.
STAR TREK: PRODIGY is from CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, CBS Studios’ new animation arm; Nickelodeon Animation Studio, led by President of Animation, Ramsey Naito; Secret Hideout; and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers alongside co-showrunners Kevin and Dan Hageman. Ben Hibon directs, co-executive produces and serves as the creative lead of the all-new animated series. Aaron Baiers also serves as co-executive producer.
