Jeremy Zuckerman, the Emmy-winning composer behind the music of Nickelodeon's beloved animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra has confirmed that he won't be working on Netflix's upcoming live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation, however, he will be working on new Avatar content as part of Avatar Studios.
In a Tweet, Zuckerman said: "To those who are wondering, I will not be working on the Netflix live action ATLA adaptation. However, I'm beyond excited to further explore the Avatar universe with Mike, Bryan, and everyone else at Avatar Studios."
The news follows Zuckerman Tweeting shortly after Netflix announcing the project in September 2018: "As it’s in early development, there’s nothing official yet but yes, I’ll be doing the music for the @netflix".
It's another blow for Netflix's live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation, which also lost the franchise's original co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino last summer.
In February of this year, ViacomCBS announced the development of an animated Avatar movie made by a new division of Nickelodeon called Avatar Studios, of which DiMartino and Konietzko are co-chief officers. The new studio aims to create new content based around the Avatarverse. The Netflix adaptation won't fall under the banner, however.

With his latest single, “Fast Forward,” 16-year-old country singer Jet Jurgensmeyer knows that the waiting is the hardest part. The romantic anthem is all about wishing the clock would speed up so he and his sweetheart could fall in love for real, and its new video captures that slow agony.
Co-written by the young guitar-slinger and actor with Bridgette Tatum and Jessie G, the smitten country-rocker finds Jurgensmeyer stuck in romantic limbo. He’s old enough to know how he feels, but too young to truly do anything about it, and that’s a dilemma many can relate to. With smoldering guitar solos and a vibrant young vocal, Jurgensmeyer counts down the hours … dreaming of a remote control button that could make time fly.
Meanwhile, the teenaged talent filmed the track’s video in the Californian desert, capturing the painful emotional isolation of not being able to follow your heart. It premiered on Sounds Like Nashville today (June 30).
“We shot this video out in California with The Riker Brothers,” Jurgensmeyer says. “I love the way it turned out and think that it fits the song perfectly! I was very blessed to have written ‘Fast Forward’ with Bridgette Tatum and Jessie G. They are both so talented and I am so grateful that they have taken me under their wing and helped me become the writer I am today.”
After getting his onstage start as a 3-year-old at the Nashville Palace, which his parents used to own, Jet Jurgensmeyer is best known for his co-starring role as Boyd on Fox’s Last Man Standing. His previous single, “Real World” came out in 2018, and he’s made a splash with covers of country hits like this video for Old Dominion’s “Make It Sweet.” Jurgensmeyer also starred in Legends of the Hidden Temple, Nickelodeon's hit 2016 live-action movie inspired by the network's beloved game show, and portrayed a young Jason Bateman on Netflix’s Ozark, and has done voiceovers for shows on Nickelodeon, Disney Junior, and more, including on Bubble Guppies and Shimmer and Shine.

Paramount+ Nordic will premiere the streamer's brand new iCarly revival on Friday 30th July 2021! Paramount+ Nordic originally planned to launch the series in September, but moved the series ahead two months thanks to the show's success in the U.S.

Nio år efter att hon loggade ut är Carly Shay online igen, nu med vuxnare problem men fortfarande med många av sina gamla vänner vid sin sida.
Den efterlängtade rebooten av iCarly släpptes på Paramount+ i USA i juni och är redan en av streamingtjänstens mest sedda serier, nyligen bekräftades det också att en andra säsong redan fått klartecken. Tanken var att iCarly skulle släppas i Norden i september men premiären har nu flyttats fram två månader på grund av framgången i USA. Redan den 30 juli kommer svenska tittar kunna återknyta bekantskapen med Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove) och ett antal välbekanta ansikten från förr. Nästan 10 år efter den ursprungliga serien tog slut återvänder nu Carly, den allra första influencern, till sin webbcast. Nu är hon i tjugoårsåldern och hon och hennes vänner tar sig i tretton helt nya avsnitt ann vuxenvärldens problem med karriär, familj och kärlek.
Nya iCarly introducerar även två nya medlemmar till kompisgänget; Laci Mosley (Florida Girls) som Harper, Carly's rumskompis och bästa vän; och Jaidyn Triplett (The Affair, See) som Millicent, Freddie's snorkiga socialmediaexpert till styvdotter. Mosley och Triplett tar plats bredvid seriens originalstjärnor, Miranda Cosgrove (Carly), Jerry Trainor (Spencer) och Nathan Kress (Freddie).

– Jeg gledet meg egentlig bare til å dra tilbake, men da jeg kom dit strømmet alle minnene på og det ble veldig emosjonelt.
Før innspillingen av en mer voksen variant av «iCarly» forteller Cosgrove at skuespillerne var nervøse.
I tillegg til Cosgrove, i rollen som Carly, gjør blant annet Nathan Kress (Freddie) og Jerry Trainor (Spencer) comeback i serien.
Tvilte på «iCarly»-konseptet
Miranda Cosgrove sammenligner det å komme tilbake til «iCarly»-settet med å komme tilbake til et barndomshjem etter ni år. Men da serien først ble lansert, trodde ikke Cosgrove det skulle bli noen suksess.

Ni år etter slutten på «iCarly», får vi et gjensyn med flere av de gamle karakterene i serien som gikk på Nickelodeon fra 2007 til 2012. Serien var blant de mest populære situasjonskomediene for barn over hele verden. I Norge kunne man blant annet serien på NRK Super.
– Carly er nå i midten av tyveårene, og må lære seg å stå på egne bein, forteller Cosgrove.
– I sesongen dater hun blant annet. Hun er ganske dårlig på å date, og havner på mange merkelige dates.
Cosgrove forteller at hun kan kjenne seg igjen i mye av Carly.
– Hun er veldig positiv, men hun er også litt klein. Det er ikke så ulikt meg i virkeligheten. Derfor var det ikke så vanskelig å komme tilbake inn i rollen.
– Hvordan forberedte du deg på å gå inn i rollen igjen, etter alle disse årene?
– Noe av det viktigste jeg gjorde var å se en hel haug med episoder fra originalen. Jeg hadde jo ikke sett det på mange år.
Cosgrove forteller at særlig de første sesongene var rart å se på nytt.
– Jeg var jo bare tretten år da vi spilte de inn. Noen av episodene husker jeg veldig lite av. Når jeg så på føltes det litt som å bare være en seer som koser seg med showet.
Å se episodene på nytt ble viktig for å huske alle trekkene ved Carly, forteller Cosgrove.
Tvilte på konseptet
Originalserien handlet om Carly og vennene Sam og Freddie, som sammen lager et webshow fra loftsleiligheten til Carly og broren Spencer.
– Jeg husker da jeg ble fortalt konseptet første gangen lurte jeg veldig på hva et webshow egentlig var. Jeg tenkte «kommer folk til å like dette?», sier Cosgrove.
Men da serien kom i gang ble den en stor suksess.
– Det var samtidig som ungdom begynte å lage sine egne youtubekanaler. På mange måter tror jeg «iCarly» ledet an en bølge av barn som skapte eget innhold til egne kanaler.
Mye har skjedd på internett siden den gang.
– Vi har mye mer å jobbe med nå. Alle lager jo kreativt innhold på nettet i 2021. Vi lagde for eksempel en hel episode om memes, og hvordan de kan ta helt av og få sitt eget liv på internett. Det var veldig gøy.
– Hvordan var det for deg å spille Carly samtidig som du ble mer og mer voksen selv?
– Jeg var tretten år da vi startet å filme, og tyve mot slutten. I løpet av den perioden hadde jeg alle mine «firsts». Mitt første kyss, og så videre. Å komme tilbake minner meg veldig om alle de tingene.
Miranda Cosgrove sammenligner det å komme tilbake med å komme tilbake til et barndomshjem etter ni år.
– Å ta tilbake showet føltes veldig overveldende i starten. Vi var redd for å ødelegge noens minner fra originalen. Men samtidig: Originalen vil jo alltid finnes. Hvem som helst kan gå tilbake og se på den når de vil.
– Nå har vi laget en slags videreføring av originalen, hvor vi kan utforske karakterene som voksne og dermed leke oss med litt andre fortellinger enn vi kunne sist.
Håper på flere gjensyn
Nylig ble det bekreftet at det kommer en sesong 2 av den nye «iCarly»-varianten.
– Hva kan vi glede oss til videre i «iCarly»-universet?
– Noe av det jeg liker best selv er å bringe tilbake folk fra originalen. Vi fikk tilbake mange i den første sesongen, og jeg håper vi kan få tilbake enda flere i den neste.
Cosgrove trekker fram karakterer som dørmannen Lewbert, og T-Bo fra smoothie-stedet «Groovy Smoothie».
– Også håper jeg vi får se mer av Freddies mor, legger Cosgrove til.
– Siden sist vi så «iCarly» har jo også fansen blitt eldre. Hva håper du de får ut av iCarly nå?
– Da vi startet dette prosjektet ble vi enige, Nathan (Freddie), Jerry (Spencer) og jeg, om at det viktigste for oss er at kjernen av fansen – de som virkelig elsket «iCarly» som barn – synes det er gøy med et gjensyn.
– Jeg håper det kan minne dem om da de var unge, slik det har gjort for oss.

In June 2017, Nickelodeon surprised and delighted fans by revealing that one of the main characters on the network's hit animated comedy series The Loud House was part of the LGBTQ+ community. A year earlier, they revealed that one of the supporting characters had same-sex parents, helping to increase LGBTQ+ representation in children's television, which earned the series a raft of GLAAD Media Award nominations. Now, it looks like the show's spin-off, The Casagrandes is set to follow suit!
According to Puerto Rican publication Metro, The Casagrandes will introduce a non-binary character in its upcoming third season, who will be voiced by Puerto Rican actor Vico Ortiz!
Non-binary or genderqueer is an umbrella term for gender identities that are neither male nor female—identities that are outside the gender binary. Non-binary identities fall under the transgender umbrella, since non-binary people typically identify with a gender that is different from their assigned sex, though some non-binary individuals do not consider themselves transgender.
Non-binary people may identify as an intermediate or separate third gender, identify with more than one gender, no gender (agender), or have a fluctuating gender identity (genderfluid). Gender identity is separate from sexual or romantic orientation, and non-binary people have a variety of sexual orientations, just as cisgender people do.
The Casagrandes tells the story of 11-year-old Ronnie Anne who moves to the city with her mom and older brother to live with their big, loving family, the Casagrandes.
After moving in with their grandparents in Great Lakes City, Ronnie Anne adjusts to her new life living under one roof and over the family-run mercado (local market), which is a gathering place for everyone in the neighborhood. When Nickelodeon premiered The Astronauts in November 2020, it became an instant favorite with viewers. Across 10 30-minute episodes, season one of the live-action series followed a group of kids who embark on the adventure of a lifetime when they are mistakenly launched into space. With the season finale airing in January 2021, fans have been wondering if the series will get a second season. Unfortunately, it sounds like Nickelodeon has opted not to renew the series for season two.
In The Astronauts, the spacecraft Odyssey II is set to launch on a mission to retrieve a foreign object that could potentially save mankind. The plan quickly goes awry when five untrained kids use their parents’ security clearances to sneak onto the empty ship. Soon after they board, the onboard AI system triggers the launch sequence. Unable to stop the ship from blasting off, the kids must assume their new role as astronauts and brave harrowing tasks, as their parents rush to find a way to take control of the situation.
The group traveling together through space are: Samantha “Samy” Sawyer-Wei, played by Miya Cech (Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Always Be My Maybe); Elliott Combs, played by Bryce Gheisar (Wonder, A Dog’s Purpose); Martin Taylor, played by Keith L. Williams (Good Boys, The Last Man on Earth); Doria Taylor, played by Kayden Grace Swan (A Black Lady Sketch Show); and Will Rivers, played by Ben Daon (Child’s Play). Matilda, the ship’s onboard AI system, is voiced by Paige Howard (The Employer, Adventureland).
The Astronautslaunched to stellar ratings on Friday, November 13, winning the day with Kids 6-11 across all TV for L+SD and L+3. The premiere posted a +31% increase with Kids 6-11, up from 1.3 (L+SD) to 1.7 (L+3). It also saw a double digit increase in L+3 ratings (+55%) year over year. Additionally, The Astronauts delivered a strong co-viewing audience with 40% of Adults 18-49 watching the series premiere with a Kid 6-11. The series has gone on to snag nominations in a raft of awards, including the Daytime Emmy Awards and Directors Guild of America Awards.
Whilst speaking to Nerds and Beyond, about his passion for writing and acting, Albert Nicholas, who portrayed Charlie Collins on The Astronauts hinted that there are no plans for a second season.
"I’d love to do film more than anything, There actually aren’t a lot of movies that film here, but it’s very TV based," said Nicholas, adding "[i]f The Astronauts continued for more season there would have been opportunity for me to request to start shadowing. I’m currently researching and asking people about directing though."
Nicholas saying "if The Astronauts continued for more season" suggests that Nickelodeon has unfortunately decided not to order a new season.
