As previously reported, The Smurfs is set to premiere on Ouftivi in French-speaking Belgium on Sunday 18th April 2021, and to promote the launch of the brand new CG-animated series based the iconic property, Ouftivi has released a teaser trailer, giving us a first look at the all new show!
Based on the iconic property and in partnership with LAFIG Belgium and IMPS, The Smurfs (52 11-minute episodes across two seasons) is a brand-new original CG-animated TV series following Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy, Hefty, Clumsy and others, on all-new adventures, packed with humor, heart and high-stakes action. The series is set to premiere on Nickelodeon in the U.S. in October 2021, and is slated to roll-out on Nickelodeon channels and programming blocks shortly after.

Created in 1958 by Belgian cartoonist Peyo, pen name of Pierre Culliford (1928-1992), the Smurfs (French: Les Schtroumpfs) evolved from secondary comic characters in Peyo's Johan and Peewit (French: Johan et Pirlouit) comic series and spinning off into their own series the following year, in which they became the small centerpieces of the massive franchise that skyrocketed to global fame with the 1981 launch of The Smurfs (Smurfs' Adventures) Saturday morning cartoon series, which, produced by Hanna-Barbera aired new episodes on NBC until 1989, running for more than 250 episodes and several specials over nine seasons. It would eventually manifest in live-action CG-animation hybrid splendor on the big screen. The 2011 feature film of the same name and its 2013 sequel, The Smurfs 2 were produced by Sony Pictures Animation and released by Columbia Pictures. Les Schtroumpfs reviennent en force sur les petits écrans
Une nouvelle série de 52 épisodes débarque en télévision et bientôt sur les plateformes, déjà vendues dans 40 pays. De quoi réamorcer la Schtroumpfmania!
40 ans après sa première saison, la série de dessins animés classiques des Schtroumpfs est encore diffusée dans plus de 100 pays. Et la légende veut qu'à chaque instant, un épisode en soit diffusé quelque part dans le monde. Produite à partir des années 80, la série télé des Schtroumpfs est l'un des programmes de divertissement qui affichent la plus grande longévité. Neuf saisons, 272 épisodes de 12 minutes.
Un succès dans le temps auquel même Peyo, le créateur des Schtroumpfs, ne devait oser croire. Mais un succès bien entretenu au fil du temps par IMPS, la société qui gère avec intelligence les droits sur l'œuvre de Peyo.
Non seulement, les studios Peyo produisent encore un album par an, mais la collaboration avec Sony durant les années 2010 a donné un nouveau coup de boost à la marque "Schtroumpfs" avec deux films mêlant animation 3D et acteurs, ainsi qu'un long métrage d'animation 3D entièrement réalisé en CGI (computer generated images).
Audiovisuel indispensable
Parce qu'aujourd'hui, la notoriété de la marque passe essentiellement par l'audiovisuel, même si les albums sont vendus dans 90 pays. Au total, c'est près de 35 millions de livres sur l'univers des Schtroumpfs qui se sont vendus!
Pour entretenir cette forte notoriété, IMPS mise à nouveau sur l'audiovisuel, mais via le petit écran cette fois. Le projet a été lancé en 2018 déjà, par la constitution d'une société de production spécifique, Peyo Productions, dédiée à la mise en oeuvre de ce projet, mené en partenariat avec le groupe Média-Participations via sa filiale Dupuis Audiovisuel. Sur la base du cahier des charges de IMPS et du Studio Peyo, Ellipse, également filiale de Media Participations, a défini le design de la série et c'est le studio Dreamwall, détenu par Dupuis, la RTBF, Sambrinvest et Wallimage Entreprises, qui a réalisé près de 75% de l'animation.
Deuxième saison en cours
Dès sa mise en chantier, le projet de nouvelle série a attiré les télévisions internationales, ce qui assure déjà la rentabilité de la première saison. La RTBF et la VRT ont très rapidement signé pour acquérir les droits de diffusion, de même que TF1 et la chaîne pour enfants allemande Kika. Par ailleurs, le groupe américain Nickelodeon en a également acquis les droits pour 40 pays via ses différentes plateformes payantes. Viendront ensuite d'autres télévisions nationales, comme la RAI, et les plateformes de streaming comme Netflix, dans les 18 mois. C'est à la RTBF que revient l'honneur de diffuser le premier épisode de cette nouvelle mouture, ce dimanche 18 avril. Un deuxième saison est par ailleurs en cours de production.
La production a mis la barre assez haut pour ce projet, avec un budget situé "dans la fourchette haute de la moyenne des productions de séries d'animation en Europe", confie François Deglain, directeur de production pour Peyo Production. Comprenez un budget supérieur à 8 millions d'euros. Le financement provient pour plus de deux millions du tax shelter avec également une intervention du fonds Wallimage.
"Nous avons opté pour les dernières technologies en matière d'animation assistée par ordinateur (CGI). Cela donne un rendu 3D très actuel. Mais sans perdre pour autant l'esprit et la simplicité des dessins de Peyo et de l'univers des Schtroumpfs", assure Deglain.
Sur le contenu également, la série veut rester dans l'esprit enchanteur et l'humour créé par Peyo. On retrouve évidemment les 101 Schtroumpfs avec le Grand Schtroumpf à leur tête et les caractères classiques, l'ineffable Gargamel et son stupide Azraël. Nouveauté déjà introduite dans le dernier long métrage d'animation et dans certains albums, un village de filles Schtroumpfs vient s'ajouter dans la forêt enchantée.
1 milliard DE DOLLARS - Les ventes publiques des franchises Schtroumpfs génèrent un milliard de dollars de chiffre d'affaires.
"On reste dans l'ADN des Schtroumpfs, mais remis au goût du jour", insiste Philippe Glorieux, porte-parole de IMPS. "Mais nous avons poussé les curseurs du côté cartoon et de l'humour absurde notamment." Les scénarios des 52 premiers de cette première nouvelle saison sont tous originaux, mais ils s'inspirent évidemment de l'Univers de Peyo et ont été écrits en étroite collaboration avec le Studio qui réalise les albums. L'objectif est de toucher un public un peu plus âgé que pour la série classique, jusqu'à 10 ou 12 ans, voire plus.
Les retombées attendues sur le plan des licences sont à la hauteur du projet. IMPS met un point d'honneur à rester accessible au plus grand nombre sur ce plan. Quelque 600 à 700 licences actives de manière constante génèrent plus d'un milliard de dollars de chiffre d'affaires global annuel en ventes aux consommateurs. Pour la nouvelle série, une master franchise mondiale a été accordée au groupe américain de jouets Jazweres. "Le public cible reste plutôt les enfants, mais on constate aussi un engouement auprès des plus âgés", poursuit Glorieux. À titre d'exemple, une collection limitée de vêtements à l'effigie des Schtroumpfs de la marque Suprême, plutôt haut de gamme, s'est vendue en 4 minutes...

Vous pourrez assister au spectacle interactif « A la rescousse ! ». En quelques mots, les habitants de La Grande Vallée se retrouvent pour l’lncroyable Course des Maires qui oppose le maire de La Grande Vallée au maire de la localité voisine FoggyBottom. Mais tout n’est pas si simple, et c’est ce qui va tenir les enfants en haleine pendant le spectacle. Le spectacle est conçu de manière interactive. Vos enfants seront ravis de retrouver leurs héros favoris sur scène. La Pat’ Patrouille est avant tout une série d’animation canadienne appelée Paw Patrol dans les pays anglo-saxons. Elle a été créée par Ketih Chapman et est diffusée depuis 2013 sur Nickelodeon aux Etats-Unis. Elle est diffusée en France depuis 2014, notamment dans Tfou sur la chaine TF1.
Les héros de la série sont représentés par neufs chiens haut en couleur (rouge, jaune, bleu, vert, orange, rose, turquoise et kaki) de diverses races (Dalmatien, Bouledogue Français, Berger Allemande, Labrador, Cocker anglais, Husky…). Chaque personnage de la série effectuera des prouesses avec un véhicule spécifique. C’est le cas par exemple de Marcus, le plus célèbre de tous, qui ravi petits et grands dans son camion de pompier rouge.

Facebook post falsely claims Canadian actress Riele Downs is dead

A Facebook post shared hundreds of times in Nigeria claims that the popular Canadian actor Riele Downs had died. But this is false: Nickelodeon has confirmed that the young actor, star of the network's hit superhero-themed comedy Henry Danger is still alive - and the Facebook account has since retracted the rumour.
The claim originated from a Facebook page called Riele Downs Fans, according to social media monitoring tool CrowdTangle. Facebook’s Page Transparency information confirms it is managed by an account registered in Nigeria.
“Popular Canadian Actress and Nickelodeon's Henry Danger Co-Star Riele West Downs is dead,” reads the post from the Facebook page. It has been shared more than 500 times and drawn over 700 comments since publication on April 11, 2021.

Labelled “shocking news”, the post features a collage of four photos of Downs overlaid with “sad” emojis and an “RIP” inscription.
The 19-year-old actor is popular for her role as Charlotte on Henry Danger, which airs on Nickelodeon channels globally.
AFP Fact Check found that the popular actor has been inactive on social media in recent weeks.

The post about her purported death emerged online after Downs promised to return “to social media soon,” according to her last tweet published on March 25, 2021. “I’ve been on a blissful vacation from it all.”
But two days later, she posted a photo of two people, including herself, on her Instagram account, which has 2.5 million followers. The caption reads: “Celebrated my lil sis’ 16th bday yesterday.”
In reality, there is no official evidence that Downs is dead.
Nickelodeon has dismissed the claim as false.
“Riele is alive and well,” Nickelodeon spokeswoman Ariana Ubont told AFP Fact Check. “Thanks for the heads up about this (false claim)."
AFP Fact Check found no reports by reputable media organisations about Downs’ purported death.
Meanwhile, the Facebook page behind the claim has retracted it with an apology on April 15, 2021.
“So sorry for the fake post of our adorable Riele Downs being dead... Earlier,” reads the post. “The page was hacked... But I’ve gotten it back Plz don't be offended I love Riele and y’all too (sic).”
