NEW YORK, Dec. 3, 2020 -- TIME, TIME for Kids and Nickelodeon announced 15-year-old scientist and inventor Gitanjali Rao from Colorado as the 2020 Kid of the Year, the multiplatform initiative recognizing extraordinary young leaders who are making a positive impact in their communities.
Selected from a field of more than 5,000, 2020 Kid of the Year Gitanjali Rao is featured on the Dec. 14 cover of TIME, available on newsstands on Friday, Dec. 4.

In an interview with Angelina Jolie for TIME, Rao spoke about her work using technology to tackle issues ranging from contaminated drinking water to opioid addiction and cyberbullying: "I don't look like your typical scientist. Everything I see on TV is that it's an older, usually white man as a scientist. It's weird to me that it was almost like people had assigned roles, regarding like their gender, their age, the color of their skin. My goal has really shifted not only from creating my own devices to solve the world's problems, but inspiring others to do the same as well. Because, from personal experience, it's not easy when you don't see anyone else like you. So I really want to put out that message: If I can do it, you can do it, and anyone can do it."
Kid of the Year Gitanjali Rao, alongside the other top finalists and honorees, will be recognized during the first-ever Kid of the Year TV special, hosted by Trevor Noah. The special will simulcast across Nickelodeon, TV Land, TeenNick and Nicktoons on Friday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT). It will also air on Comedy Central on Friday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) and CBS Television Network on Monday, Dec. 21, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT).
The Kid of the Year TV special will feature guest stars from entertainment, sports and pop culture to help surprise the top five Kid of the Year honorees and celebrate their work. Celebrity guests making appearances throughout the special include Kristen Bell, Simone Biles, Dixie D'Amelio, Billie Eilish, Rob Gronkowski, Neil Patrick Harris, Chris Hemsworth, Ken Jeong, Angelina Jolie, Chloe Kim, Brie Larson, Zachary Levi, Russell Westbrook and Malala Yousafzai, among others.

The new members of the Midnight Society are: Luke, played by Bryce Gheisar (The Astronauts, Wonder); Jai, played by Arjun Athalye; Hanna, played by Beatrice Kitsos (Child's Play, iZombie); Gabby, played by Malia Baker (The Baby-Sitters Club); Seth, played by Dominic Mariche (The Christmas Yule Blog, A Gift to Cherish); and Connor, played by Parker Queenan (Party of Five, Andi Mack).
Season one of the reimagined limited series, which aired across three hour-long episodes in October 2019, saw a different Midnight Society group of kids enter the Carnival of Doom to face off against its evil ringmaster, Mr. Tophat. All three parts ranked as the most co-viewed (among adults 18-49 watching with a kid 6-11) show on broadcast and TV each week and was the number-one live-action series on cable TV in all kids’ demos (2-11, 6-11 and tweens 9-14).
All three parts of Are You Afraid of the Dark? season one are available on DVD. The season's soundtrack is now available to download and stream.
Are You Afraid of the Dark? is produced by ACE Entertainment (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, The Perfect Date) with ACE founder Matt Kaplan and Spencer Berman serving as executive producers and Paul Kim as co-producer. Jeff Wadlow (Fantasy Island, Truth or Dare) serves as executive producer and the primary director for the series. The season is written by JT Billings (Beware That Girl, Charming), who also serves are co-executive producer and showrunner.

Rugrats, provided to Creators Syndicate by Nickelodeon, based off the popular animated television series has been created for children and family's to laugh and enjoy together.

Sadly, with most of Nickelodeon's operations moving to the West Coast, Nickelodeon Studios closed its doors on April 30, 2005, leaving behind an incredible legacy. The original building structure still remains, although its now the Blue Man Group Sharp Aquos Theatre (although there still is a few Nickelodeon mementos lying around if your lucky enough to go backstage).
However, fans can now revisit the legendary Nickelodeon Studios, thanks to one dedicated Minecraft player named TF Sports And Games, who has reconstructed the World's First Headquarters for Kids using the popular video game! The highly-detailed reconstruction lets the viewer tour backstage at Nickelodeon Studios, including visiting the sets of Double Dare and Nickelodeon GUTS as well as the dressing rooms and storage areas! (NASDAQ: HAS), today announced that, following the exciting new relaunch of the Mighty Morphin and Power Rangers series in 2020, the entire fifty-five issue flagship series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, along with several key tie-in issues, will be collected in six premium, limited edition Deluxe Hardcover volumes and available for pre-order individually or in a complete set through Kickstarter.
Fans will have the opportunity to pre-order a complete set of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in BOOM! Studios “Deluxe” hardcover format, collecting the entire Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic book series. This new pre-order campaign will offer three different versions of these hardcovers:
MIGHTY Editions: these Deluxe format hardcovers feature artwork by Goñi Montes exclusive to this campaign and not available on any other collected editions.
MORPHIN Editions: these Deluxe format hardcovers feature the previously mentioned cover artwork AND an exclusive slipcase featuring new artwork Goñi Montes, both of which will only be available through this campaign.
MEGAZORD Editions: these Deluxe format hardcovers feature the previously mentioned cover artwork, the previously mentioned exclusive slipcase, AND an acetate sleeve featuring new artwork of a portion of the Megazord. This version also includes a cardboard standee of Megazord (presumably not to scale with the actual Megazord) for displaying each book.
Fans can pre-order at three primary levels including (1) individual volumes, (2) a complete set of all six volumes, and (3) ultra-premium, limited collectible sets through February 4, 2021.
Additionally, BOOM! Studios is offering fans who pre-order before 10:00am PST on January 6, 2021, a free set of six Power Rangers Helmet pins as a special Thank You.

SPACE STATION CREW DISCUSSES LIFE IN SPACE WITH STEM STUDENTS
Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 64 Flight Engineers Shannon Walker of NASA and Soichi Noguchi of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) discussed life and research on the orbital lab with students who submitted pre-recorded questions through Nickelodeon's Noggin mobile application service in an in-flight educational event Dec. 30. Walker and Noguchi arrived on the station in November, launching on the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft “Resilience”.
