Puerto Morelos - A Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya passenger bus was involved in a collision involving another car during the afternoon on December 8, leaving the bus half-overturned. A total of 15 people were injured, three of them seriously.

This heavy collision occurred near the Royalton Hotel, on the border between Benito Juárez and Puerto Morelos. Preliminary reports indicate that the bus was attempting to join highway 307, but was hit by a Volkswagen Jetta, the front of which was completely destroyed.
The bus, a Mercedes Benz, was hit on its side, which caused it to roll sideways, leaving it half-overturned on the road.
Citizen volunteers went to the site of the accident and pulled the passengers out of the windows after climbing over the side of the bus.
Four ambulances were on the scene, whose paramedics had to assess the many injured and rush them to hospitals and clinics in Cancun. Three people were seriously injured, and 12 others were in stable condition. At least seven people were taken away by ambulance.
National Guard officers, firefighters and Civil Protection personnel from both Puerto Aventuras and Benito Juarez also arrived.
Almost immediately, the accident created a traffic jam, although the bus was first moved to the shoulder lane and then towed away.

Puerto Morelos.- Un autobús de transporte de pasajeros del hotel Nickelodeon se estrelló contra un automóvil esta tarde en la carretera federal 307, quedando semivolcado. En total, 15 personas resultaron heridas, tres de ellas de gravedad.
Esta fuerte colisión ocurrió a la altura del hotel Royalton, en los límites entre Benito Juárez y Puerto Morelos. Todo indica que el autobús pretendía incorporarse a la carretera 307, pero fue impactado por un automóvil Volkswagen Jetta, cuyo frente quedó completamente destruido.
El autobús, de la marca Mercedes Benz, fue golpeado en su costado, lo que hizo que se fuera de lado, quedando semivolcado, sobre la carretera.
Ciudadanos voluntarios acudieron al sitio del accidente y sacaron a los pasajeros por las ventanas, después de subirse sobre el costado de esta unidad.
Al lugar acudieron cuatro ambulancias, cuyos paramédicos debieron valorar a los múltiples lesionados y trasladarlos de urgencia a clínicas de Cancún. Tres personas estaban heridas de gravedad, y otros 12 estaban en situación estable.
También llegaron agentes de la Guardia Nacional, bomberos y personal de Protección Civil tanto de Puerto Aventuras como de Benito Juárez.
Casi de inmediato, el accidente creó un embotellamiento vehicular, aunque en primer momento, el autobús fue movido hacia el carril de acotamiento, para después ser retirado por grúa.
Al menos siete personas fueron trasladadas en ambulancia.
