Official Darwin Waterfront Corporation press release:
New Years Eve Event
Bring in the New Year with Amy Shark
8 x Aria award-winning singer Amy Shark will headline the Territory’s biggest New Year’s Eve celebrations at the Darwin Waterfront, with tickets on sale now.
Hot off the release of her latest ARIA #1 album Cry Forever, Shark will perform in a night to remember including sensational sisters The Veronicas, Brisbane chart topper Conrad Sewell and 8-piece Darwin-based disco party band, 'Disco Polenta' with Natalie Pellegrino and Shalom Kaa.
Kids are also in for the best New Year’s Eve ever with a show by everybody’s favourite Blue Heeler, Bluey, and her sister Bingo and a performance from the full crew of Nickelodeon’s Paw Patrol.
Food and full service bars, roving entertainment, a Welcome to Country and two fireworks extravaganzas will also ensure 2021 ends with a bang.
Shark, who burst back onto the music scene in 2020 with her international pop sound single, ‘Everybody Rise’, said she was excited to be sharing New Year’s Eve in Darwin.
“It’s been another difficult year, but I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the New Year than being on stage and seeing everyone's faces in real life,” she said. “It’s going to be a really special show and I can’t wait to see you all.”
Pop Duo The Veronicas – aka Jess and Lisa Origliasso – can’t wait to enthral music lovers either, especially after their June national tour, which included Darwin, was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We can’t think of a better place to bring in 2022 than on the water front of one of Australia’s most beautiful cities with some of our favourite artists and friends,” the sisters said.
“ I am so excited to be playing my first ever show in Darwin bringing in the New Year. Darwin is such an iconic part of the country and has always been on my bucket list", says Sewell.
Darwin Waterfront Corporation General Manager Sam Burke said New Year’s Eve at the Darwin Waterfront is one of the highlights of the events calendar, with tickets on sale now.
“This year’s celebrations promise to be sensational with a fantastic line up of top Australian artists, the best family entertainment, delicious food offerings, stunning views of the water and, of course, two sessions of spectacular fireworks,” he said.
“Settle on the lawns under balmy tropical skies for another unforgettable evening in 2021.”
New to this year is the option of premium seating zones for revellers with your own private bar, delicious food offerings and nearby bathrooms.
“We’re also elevating the audience experience this year with the offer of deluxe seating zones including a private bar and food so that revellers won’t miss a beat of the show,” Mr Burke said.
Gates will open Friday, 31 December, at 4pm with family fun kicking off at 5.30pm.
At both 9pm and midnight the skies will ignite with two ten-minute fireworks spectaculars.
Bring along your picnic rugs and chairs and nestle in for the evening at the Waterfront.
Tickets start at $35 and approximately 9000 are available. Children aged five and under are free with a paying adult.

NT National Winner at Prestigious Event Industry Awards
Darwin Waterfront Corporation and Agentur win Major Event & Festival of the Year at MEA National Awards.
Darwin Waterfront’s New Year’s Eve 2020 won National Major Event & Festival of the Year at the Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) Awards program last night. The MEA National Awards are the most prestigious and highly regarded event industry Awards program in Australia, which recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements in the events sector.
The 2020 NYE event was co-headlined by internationally acclaimed artists Tones and I and Sheppard, supported by Nickelodeon’s Paw Patrol show and local artists Jordan Ravi, Drumming Up A Storm, DJ Lady Kay and Welcome to Country by The Youth Mill and Darwin Waterfront Corporation’s Chairman, Richard Fejo. It was the biggest New Year’s Eve event in Australia, and the biggest event to be hosted at Darwin Waterfront ever.
The Darwin Waterfront Corporation and event partner Agentur overcame numerous challenges to deliver an outstanding event. A key challenge was the incredibly short lead time for planning and delivery of the event compared to previous years. Following constant disruptions from COVID-19, in October 2020 Darwin and the Northern Territory were positioned as the comeback capital for Australia, with no community transmission. This placed Darwin Waterfront and Agentur in a unique position to deliver on a full scale concert event safely and responsibly. New Year’s Eve (NYE) at Darwin Waterfront was the largest outdoor concert event celebrating NYE in Australia, and one of few major public events taking place across Australia and the globe due to COVID-19.
The Darwin Waterfront Corporation are presenting another incredible line up for the 2021 New Year’s Eve event, having scored 8 x ARIA Award winner Amy Shark to headline, supported by the Veronicas, Conrad Sewell, Nickelodeon’s Paw Patrol, Bluey and Bingo and a range of local acts. Event partner Agentur will again manage stage and production. Tickets are limited and Darwin will certainly again be the place to be this year. Book tickets at [https://www.waterfront.nt.gov.au]
