A strike of nostalgia for both the fanbases!
Fans of both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Jetpack Joyride will get a blast of nostalgia as Halfbrick Studios have announced a collaboration between Jetpack Joyride and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT). An event is set to kick off on the September 14, 2021, and will be live till the date of October 5, 2021.
The game will feature the iconic heroes in a half shell
Considered one of the most popular kids’ television programs of the 1980s, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a classic, global property created in 1984 by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. It first debuted as a successful comic book series and then became a hit animated TV show, a live-action television series and later spawned numerous blockbuster theatrical releases. Since its launch in 2012, Nickelodeon’s all-new CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has re-energized these iconic characters of this wildly popular franchise. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is seen in over 170 countries and territories and translated in 45+ languages. Nickelodeon followed the success of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which debuted Fall 2018. A Rise of the TMNT movie will be released on Netflix in 2022.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are four turtle brother superheroes, Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Donatello, who, with the help of their sensei and adoptive father Splinter, who is an anthropomorphic rat, have trained themselves in the ancient Japanese martial art of ninjutsu. The story entails the turtles fighting to keep their hometown of New York City and the world safe, including from their arch enemies, the Krang, Shredder and the Foot Clan.
The four iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
They made the sewers of New York City their home, where they battled petty criminals, evil overlords, mutated creatures, and alien invaders while maintaining their stealth in the city. The event will see a unique mix of both of the popular franchises of TMNT and JJ. The game also features the iconic turtles in-game as playable characters as well as backgrounds and terrains that resemble the Ninja Turtles' home.
There are also new and unique jetpacks to try out while being riddled in easter eggs for the fans to unravel. The current release of the event will not feature characters like Splinter, Shredder, or the Party Wagon. Although, do stay tuned as they will be released very soon in the next round.
Jetpack Joyride is a side-scrolling infinite arcade, runner game. First released in 2011, the game has became an overnight sensation, winning several game awards along the way.
The game stars the struggling gramophone salesman, Barry Steakfries, who steals a jet pack from a top-secret facility. Next, he flies from lab to lab, exploring different terrains. The objective is to fly as far as you can, gather coins, and dodge hazards like zappers, missiles, and high-intensity laser beams are all part of the game. The game has spawned a sequel, Jetpack Joyride 2, which was released back in February this year.
To celebrate the crossover, Halfbrick Studios has made the Jetpack Joyride app icon TMNT-themed.
Donnie, Mikey, Leo and Raph previously featured in a crossover with Brawlhalla earlier this year, and will next be featured in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, slated for release in 2022, and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, set to be released this fall.
