Nickelodeon CEO Brian Robbins says there are currently no plans for more live-action projects beyond the upcoming spinoff sequel of The Fairly OddParents.
Beyond the upcoming live-action reboot of The Fairly OddParents, Nickelodeon has no plans for more live-action versions of its animated shows.
Programming chief Brian Robbins, recently named CEO and president of Nickelodeon, told The Hollywood Reporter, "We are doing a live-action Loud House Christmas movie that will come to Nickelodeon linear this Christmas. But yes, The Fairly OddParents show is a hybrid so that the fairies are animated and all the humans are live actors. You can't do it a hundred times but that's it for right now."
The Fairly OddParents ran on Nickelodeon from 2001 to 2006 and was revived from 2007 to 2012. It featured the adventures of 10-year-old kid Timmy Turner, who had fairy godparents Wanda and Cosmo to distract him from his clueless parents and bullying babysitter Vicky. Frequently, the wishes Timmy asked for would cause various problems in his life that had to be fixed.
Nickelodeon recently announced the full cast for the live-action reboot of The Fairly OddParents, which is set to air on Paramount+ later in 2021. The cast includes Audrey Grace Marshall as Viv Turner; Tyler Wladis as Roy Ragland; Laura Bell Bundy as Rachel Ragland; Ryan-James Hatanaka as Ty Turner; and Imogen Cohen as Viv and Roy's friend, Zina Zacarias.
The spinoff sequel focuses on Timmy's cousin Vivian "Viv" Turner and stepbrother Roy Ragland, who share the attention of Wanda and Cosmo. The last time the series was seen in live-action was when Nickelodeon aired three Fairly OddParents movies from 2011 to 2014 starring Drake & Josh star Drake Bell as Timmy, who kept Wanda and Cosmo in his life by refusing to grow up. Daran Norris and Susanne Blakeslee, who are returning for the 2021 reboot, voiced Wanda and Cosmo in those films and the original series. Original series creator Butch Hartman returns to produce the hybrid series.
