It’s been almost 30 years since Rugrats first aired on Nickelodeon, so the beloved cartoon is celebrating its milestone anniversary with a special PUMA collection, HYPEBEAST reports. Consisting of seven pieces in total for both adults and children, the collection uses bright colors, playful detailing and whimsical graphics to show its inspirations and salute three decades of Tommy, Chuckie, Angelica, Phil, Lil, Susie and the rest of the crew.
As mentioned above, seven products in total will release. However, only one has been revealed so far: PUMA Hoops‘ new Court Rider, a versatile basketball silhouette favored by LaMelo Ball, RJ Barrett and other PUMA team members. The sneaker's colorway is titled "Caribbean Sea-Dragon Fire".
Its ’90s-centric colorway draws directly from the familiar Rugrats logo, boasting a teal, purple and green upper that wouldn’t look out of place with the uniforms of Ball’s Charlotte Hornets. This upper is embellished with a iconic Nickelodeon splat featuring the PUMA logo on the tongue, a Rugrats logo on the heel and full-color printed insoles, while down below the Rider foam midsoles add orange and yellow into the mix to complete the shoe’s colorful inspiration.
"This Court Rider iteration utilises the colours of the cartoons logo across the various panels throughout the shoe," notes Foot Fire, adding: "The layers of leather and mesh arrive in Caribbean Sea Blue as the tear-resistant TPU overlay is highlighted in Purple. Green accents the semi-exposed signature Foamstripe on the medial side and branding tags whilst the Rider Foam midsole provides contrast dressed in white with hits of Orange & Yellow on the heel. A Nickelodeon inspired Puma logo appears on the tongue."
