'The Loud House' Receives Nomination in 32nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards

GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, has announced the very exciting news that Nickelodeon's hit animated series The Loud House has been nominated for a award in the 32nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards!

The Loud House received their nomination in the "Outstanding Kids & Family Programming" category of the annual awards, which recognizes and honors media for fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of LGBTQ people and the issues that affect their lives.

The Loud House currently has three LGBTQ+ characters. In August 2016, the show introduced Harold and Howard McBride, the same-sex parents of Lincoln's best friend, Clyde in the episode "Attention Deficit" (pictured above). Clyde parents are voiced by comedians voiced by Wayne Brady (The Wayne Brady Show, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Everybody Hates Chris, Let's Make a Deal) and Michael McDonald (All Grown Up!, Invader Zim, Futurama, Ghostbusters: Answer The Call (2016), Spy, Scrubs).

Then, in June 1997, the series revealed that Lincoln's sister, Luna (Nika Futterman, It's Pony, Pig Goat Banana Cricket, Sanjay and Craig, Bubble Guppies, Fanboy & Chum Chum, The Last of Us), and her crush, Sam (voiced by Jill Talley (Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling, SpongeBob SquarePants) in season two and by Alyson Stoner (Drake & Josh) from season three onwards) were bi-sexual, in the episode "L Is for Love" (video below).

Rounding this year's "Outstanding Kids & Family Programming" category are: Craig of the Creek (Cartoon Network), Diary of a Future President (Disney+), First Day (Hulu), Kipo and The Age of the Wonderbeasts (Dreamworks Animation/Netflix), "Mary Anne Saves the Day" The Baby-Sitters Club (Netflix), "Obsidian" Adventure Time: Distant Lands (HBO Max), The Owl House (Disney Channel), She-Ra & The Princesses of Power (Dreamworks Animation/Netflix) and Steven Universe (Cartoon Network).

The 32nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards nominees were published, released, or broadcast between January 1 and December 31, 2020.
