Rob Dyrdek Made One of Kel Mitchell’s Childhood Dreams Come True
Nickelodeon star Kel Mitchell is a panelist on the new MTV series Deliciousness. Showbiz Cheat Sheet spoke to Mitchell over Zoom to talk about his role on the viral video series and how the show’s creator, Rob Dyrdek, helped Mitchell achieve one of his childhood dreams.
Rob Dyrdek is back with another hilarious show, ‘Deliciousness’
In 2011, MTV debuted Ridiculousness. From comedic genius Dyrdek, the show highlights some of the internet’s most viral clips with the help of a hilarious panel. Now, just in time for the holidays, Dyrdek brings fans an entirely new show solely focused on food blunders.
“The only thing people love more than delicious food is delicious food fails,” says the promo. The Ridiculousness spinoff is hosted by Saved by the Bell star Tiffani Thiessen. Joining her are The Office‘s Angela Kinsey, All That and Dancing With the Stars finalist Kel Mitchell, and Basic to Bougie co-host Tim Chantarangsu.
Kel Mitchell is excited to be part of ‘Deliciousness’
Mitchell considers himself a foodie. When he’s not dreaming about sweet potato pie, he’s in his backyard barbecuing or smoking meats, including his favorite — free-range turkey. Mitchell is excited to lend his expertise as a panelist on Deliciousness and get to work alongside Kinsey and Chantarangsu.
“They’re both funny, hilarious comedians,” Mitchell said of his co-stars. “Angela’s awesome. Tim, we know each other from Wild ‘n Out because I guest-starred. It’s just so much fun [working with them].”
Mitchel said they all riff off of each other really well, making for some hilarious moments. Ironically, that wasn’t the case at first.
“On the first episode, we [were] trying to figure [each other] out,” Mitchell explained. “But then towards the end of it, it was like, ‘Yo, this is great!’ We work well together and it’s fun.” Fans will see the trio hit their stride in the upcoming episodes of the show.
‘Saved by the Bell’ influenced Kel Mitchell’s childhood roles
Growing up, Mitchell was a big Saved by the Bell fan. As such, the series influenced much of his early career. One of Mitchell’s most popular characters, “Good Burger” Ed, was inspired by the sitcom.
“I liked wrestling back then,” Mitchell explained to ABC regarding his audition for All That. He created the character of Ed on the spot during his audition by combining his favorite things.
“I would basically take the Hulk Hogan voice and then the Bayside voice from all the kids of Saved By the Bell and mix it all together,” he explained. “So I just started doing that, and it just really worked.”
Thus, Ed was born. But Saved by the Bell was more than just an inspiration to Mitchell. Meeting the cast became one of his life goals.
Working with Tiffani Thiessen is a dream come true for Kel Mitchell
Aside from getting to work on a Dyrdek project — Mitchell called him a “mastermind” — Mitchell had an ulterior motive in wanting to work on Deliciousness.
“To work with Tiffani, too,” the actor started. “I’m huge, huge Saved by the Bell fan. I had a mission to meet all of [the cast] since I was a kid.”
Now, thanks to Dyrdek’s mastermind, Mitchell’s childhood dreams have come true. “I met the whole cast of Saved By the Bell,” he chuckled.
Fans can tune in to holiday-themed episodes of Deliciousness from Dec. 14 to Dec. 18 at 7 PM EST.

Kel Mitchell On MTV’s ‘Deliciousness’: ‘It’s Super Funny & The Videos You Will See Are Crazy’
(CBS Local)–Kel Mitchell has been entertaining audiences since he was a teenager on Nickelodeon and on Monday, December 14, Mitchell along with Tiffani Thiessen, Angela Kinsey and Tim Chantarangsu launch a brand new series on MTV called “Deliciousness.”
The spin off of “Ridiculousness” is an all food themed show that features Mitchell and the rest of the crew watching and commenting on everything from food blunders to restaurant fails. This show is for the foodie and the person looking for a good belly laugh when watching kids destroying kitchens. Mitchell is excited to working with such talented people and thinks this show will be enjoyable for all.
“It’s relatable. We all mess up recipes and try to make it right and we keep messing it up,” said Mitchell, in an interview with CBS Local’s DJ Sixsmith. “Even with me, I mess up the barbeque because as I was grilling, I was texting. Don’t grill and text bro. I was burning the food and it’s moments like that we can all laugh at together. It’s an amazing and fun cast. I’m a big huge fan of everyone and I was a huge fan of Saved By The Bell as a kid. I watched it every Saturday morning and it is cool to be working with Tiffani Thiessen too.”
“Deliciousness” kicks off with a one week holiday-themed slate of episodes. Mitchell has been working with ViacomCBS ever since he got his big break on Nickelodeon in the 1990s on “All That” and “[Kenan & Kel].” Those experiences will always hold a special place in his heart.
“Now I’m a executive producer of the reboot of All That and we have another diverse cast,” said Mitchell. “These kids are amazing and we’ve been able to give them good advice. It’s awesome. It was serious at the time. I remember at the time we started doing Keenan and Kel and All That back-to-back and also school. Keenan and I both wanted to stay enrolled in school. We wanted to have the full experience, until we couldn’t when we got too famous. There were some things to juggle, but at the time we were just super excited to be blessed to have this moment happen.”

“Deliciousness” Star Kel Mitchell Encouraged Cast of Nickelodeon’s “All That” With This Bible Verse
He hit instant fame as a young actor on the original version of Nickelodeon’s “All That.”
Now, two decades later, Kel Mitchell, along with his “All That” and Good Burger co-star Keenan Thompson, are executive producing the newest version of the hit sketch comedy show.
The actor is currently starring in MTV’s Christmas version of Ridiculousness, aka Deliciousness, which is airing everyday this week on the cable channel at 7/6 c.
The show, hosted by Tiffani Thiessen, features a panel cast of commentators who share their thoughts on hilarious food fails, which is inevitable, especially around the holidays!
Kel himself shared a few of his own pitfalls, as well as his Christmas traditions, in our chat.
Not only is Kel an accomplished actor, who manage to successfully navigate through child stardom, he’s also a father and yes…a youth pastor!
Kel successfully found a way to merge his Hollywood career with that of pastoral ministry, and even shared scripture with the stars of the new version of his show.
The father-of-four recalled the time he first met the teen cast, and felt God tell him to “tell them something you would have wished someobody would have told you.”
“I got in front of them and I said, ‘Remember that you were made great, when you were knitted in the womb. God made you great. So this show is not the thing that’s gonna make you great….you’re not your character. Know that you were great when you were born.”
The actor, who was a child star himself, further explained why he shared what he did.
“Because as child stars, you kind of mix it all together…”
He appeared to describe how child stars can confuse friendship with the business and work side of things, and might get confused if they’re not hired by a manager or director they once worked with.
