MIAMI, Dec. 8, 2020 -- ViacomCBS Networks International announced today the official launch of Pluto TV, the leading free streaming television service, in Brazil. Pluto TV Brazil offers audiences a diverse line-up of premium, curated linear channels and content from major media partners worldwide. Pluto TV offers ease of access, for free, with no registration required across mobile, web and connected TV devices.  Users in Brazil can now access Pluto TV via the pluto.tv website, by downloading the app on iOS and Android, and across connected TV devices including Android TV, Samsung TV Plus, ROKU, Chromecast and Apple TV. 

Currently, Pluto TV has a global audience of nearly 36 million monthly active users, and an international footprint that spans three continents and 24 countries throughout the US, Europe, and Latin America.

By the end of 2021, Pluto TV in Brazil will have more than 60 channels and thousands of hours of content within a variety of genres and formats that include movies, series, reality shows, anime, lifestyle, competitions, nature, police, and children's content - all for free, no subscription needed.

'SpongeBob: The Complete Twelfth Season' DVD Set Won't Contain 'The Kwarantined Krab'

SpongeBob SquarePants fans were a bit dismayed when Paramount Home Entertainment revealed that the upcoming episode "The Kwarantined Krab" wouldn't be part of the upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants: The Complete Twelfth Season DVD boxset, set to be released in January 2021.


In "The Kwarantined Krab", the Krusty Krab goes under emergency quarantine, but no one knows who carries the mysterious illness.

The episode has already aired in a number of countries, including in France, Israel and Canada, however, has yet to air in the United States.

As the episode's title and synopsis suggests, one of the reasons why Nickelodeon may be holding the broadcast of this episode is due to the on-going COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

If you're in Canada, "The Kwarantined Krab" is currently available to stream through Apple TV with a Nick+ subscription.

Isaiah Crews on Following in His Dad Terry Crews’ Acting Footsteps

Terry Crews' son, Isaiah Crews, has some big shoes to fill when it comes to following in his father's footsteps -- and not just because his dad is enormous and ripped. The 15-year-old actor recently sat down with his father on ET for a special conversation in which they each interviewed one another.


The excited father, star of Brooklyn Nine-Nine couldn't hold back his pride over his son's work on the Nickelodeon series Side Hustle, and asked his son how he felt about "following in my acting footsteps."

"It has just been so much fun," Isaiah shared with a beaming smile. "Even off set, you just get to hang out with the rest of the cast, and you really miss socializing after you've been stuck in the house for six months."

"I've missed acting ever since I performed in my school play last year," Isaiah added. "It's just been so much fun! I'm just living a dream come true."

Terry also reflected on some advice he gave his son when he first told his dad he wanted to start acting, and marveled at how Isaiah took his guidance and ran with it.


"I remember when you first started, you know we were sitting in the kitchen, and I said, 'Isaiah, always give them more than what they pay you for,'" Crews recalled. "I could not be more proud, because when I watch you on Side Hustle, doing your thing, and really going for it, going for every joke, and watching people laugh as you're performing, I said, 'This kid is giving them more than they pay him for.'"

When it came to his future, Isaiah also opened up about what celebs (other than his father, of course) he would like to work with.

"I want to end up working with Keanu Reeves," Isaiah shared. "He's just one of the nicest guys I've ever seen, and plus, I've always wanted to be in an action movie with him, 'cause, you know, he's trained like months and months and months for the Matrix, John Wick and all that. And I'm just curious to see how it would play out."

New York--September 15--ViacomCBS (NASDAQ: VIAC, VIACA) today unveiled “Paramount+” as the brand name for the company’s upcoming global streaming service, building on a legacy of innovation and superior storytelling that distinguishes one of the most iconic brands in Hollywood. The company’s transformed subscription video on-demand and live streaming service, CBS All Access, will be rebranded as Paramount+ in early 2021 as part of the service’s expansion to feature content from ViacomCBS’ leading portfolio of broadcast, news, sports and entertainment brands. ViacomCBS will also bring Paramount+ to international markets with an initial debut in Australia, Latin America and the Nordics in 2021.


“Paramount is an iconic and storied brand beloved by consumers all over the world, and it is synonymous with quality, integrity and world-class storytelling,” said Bob Bakish, President and CEO, ViacomCBS. “With Paramount+, we’re excited to establish one global streaming brand in the broad-pay segment that will draw on the sheer breadth and depth of the ViacomCBS portfolio to offer an extraordinary collection of content for everyone to enjoy.”

Today, ViacomCBS also revealed plans for additional new original series for Paramount+:

  • THE OFFER, a scripted limited event series from Paramount Television Studios, based on Oscar-winning producer Al Ruddy’s extraordinary, never-revealed experiences of making “The Godfather.” The 10-episode event series is written and executive produced by Michael Tolkin (“Escape at Dannemora” and “The Player”). Ruddy will also serve as executive producer, and Emmy-winning producer Leslie Greif (“Hatfields & McCoys”) will executive produce and be a writer on the series.
  • LIONESS, a spy drama created by Taylor Sheridan (“Yellowstone”) with Sheridan, Jill Wagner, David Glasser, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari set to executive produce. Based on a real-life CIA program, LIONESS follows a young Marine recruited to befriend the daughter of a terrorist to bring the organization down from within. The series is produced by Paramount Network and 101 Studios.
  • A reimagination of the Emmy®-nominated series “Behind the Music” entitled MTV’s BEHIND THE MUSIC – THE TOP 40, which will unlock MTV’s vault from the past 40 years for a unique and intimate look at the 40 biggest artists of all time, through their voices and their eyes. The series will be produced by Creature Films and MTV Studios.
  • THE REAL CRIMINAL MINDS, a true crime docuseries based on the hit CBS Television series, and produced by XG Productions in association with CBS Television Studios and ABC Signature.
  • The service is also developing a revival of THE GAME as part of BET’s programming on Paramount+ from CBS Television Studios and Grammnet Productions.

The new original series announced today join the service’s previously announced plans for KAMP KORAL, a new original children’s series from Nickelodeon’s SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, and the service’s role as the exclusive SVOD home to THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE: SPONGE ON THE RUN in early 2021. Additional new original content will be announced ahead of launch.

This programming will join CBS All Access’ robust existing offering of more than 20,000 episodes and movies from BET, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures and more, as well as exclusive original series including THE GOOD FIGHT, THE TWILIGHT ZONE, TOONING OUT THE NEWS, NO ACTIVITY, WHY WOMEN KILL, INTERROGATION, THE THOMAS JOHN EXPERIENCE and TELL ME A STORY, as well as upcoming series THE STAND, THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH, THE HARPER HOUSE, and GUILTY PARTY. The service is also the exclusive domestic home to STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, STAR TREK: PICARD, the animated series STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS and the upcoming U.S.S. Enterprise-set series STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS.

Since the transformation of CBS All Access began in late July, the service has experienced significant growth and engagement. With the addition of a diverse mix of content, including UEFA, BIG BROTHER LIVE FEEDS, STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS and more than 3,500 episodes from across ViacomCBS’ brands, the service broke a new record for total monthly streams in August and experienced one of its best months ever in terms of new subscriber sign-ups. In addition, the average age of new subscribers in August was measurably younger than the service’s overall average subscriber age, due in large part to the addition of UEFA and the newly added content from various ViacomCBS brands.

Leading up to the early 2021 rebrand to Paramount+, CBS All Access will expand its content offering to more than 30,000 episodes and movies and continue to develop additional original series across brands including BET, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures and more, transforming it into a diversified super service for the ViacomCBS portfolio.

Global media leader selects AWS as its preferred broadcast cloud provider to power one of the largest digital transformations in the media and entertainment industry


SEATTLE, Wa--Dec. 08, 2020--Today, Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com, Inc. company (NASDAQ: AMZN), and ViacomCBS (NASDAQ: VIAC) announced an agreement that makes AWS the preferred cloud provider for ViacomCBS’s global broadcast media operations. As part of the strategic agreement, ViacomCBS will migrate operations for its entire broadcast footprint, which spans 425 linear television channels and 40 global data and media centers, to the world’s leading cloud – one of the first such large-scale transformations in the media and entertainment industry. The migration will enable ViacomCBS to drive greater efficiencies and cost savings, simplify access to content for its licensing partners, and reliably deliver new viewing experiences to consumers by broadcasting and streaming content on any device.

ViacomCBS will leverage AWS’s industry-leading infrastructure and comprehensive cloud capabilities, including serverless, containers, databases, media services, analytics, and machine learning, to build a cloud-based broadcast and media supply chain operating model. This new cloud-based hub will help the broadcaster spin up new channels faster, dynamically assemble live content to optimize delivery over any distribution channel, add image and video analysis to applications, and automate workflows. ViacomCBS plans to use AWS Elemental media services as well as AWS machine learning technologies, including Amazon Rekognition (AWS’s service that adds intelligent image and video analysis to applications) and Amazon SageMaker (AWS’s service for building, training, and deploying machine learning models), to quickly scale video processing resources, automate workflows, and predict audience preferences. These capabilities will aid ViacomCBS in producing and streaming dynamic content and enabling efficient national and local news distribution on CBSN, CBS News’s 24/7 digital streaming service.

Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America Temporarily Shuts Due to On-Going COVID-19 Pandemic

Nick News Mini: Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minneapolis has announced the unfortunate news that, due to the on-going COVID-19 (coronavirus) health emergency, the Nickelodeon amusement park has had to temporarily close its doors in accordance to the latest guidance of state health officials. Nickelodeon Universe closed on November 21, and will be closed until at least December 18. The closure follows Nick Universe reopening in August after having to shut for almost five months due to the first COVID-19 lockdown.
