Nickelodeon Australia Teams Up With Michael Phelps To Make Waves This Summer With New PAW Patrol Safety First! Water Safety Campaign.


PAW Patrol’s heroic pups are on a roll this summer and ready to spread the word about the importance of water safety through the PAW Patrol Safety First! prosocial initiative.

The water safety program, created in partnership with Michael Phelps, will launch in Australia today (Nov. 23) with a Public Service Announcement (PSA). Starring Phelps, World Champion Swimmer and Water Safety Advocate and Kids' Choice Sports Legend Award recipient, who also serves as the PAW Patrol Safety First! Global Water Safety Ambassador, the spot will be featured on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels, as well as their social media and digital platforms.

The PSA, which features the PAW Patrol pups as well as Phelps and his son Boomer, utilises a sing-along format to teach the “ABCs and 123s of Swim Safety”, the core principles that will help kids keep safe as they try to beat the heat this summer with water-based activities.

The ABCs for adults include: A – Adult Supervision – always be within arms distance of kids, providing focused supervision; B – Barriers – all pools should have a barrier for entry and a self-latching gate; and C – Classes that concentrate on swimming for kids and CPR for adults. The ABCs are an important way to make sure everyone feels safe and confident in the water.

The 123s of Swim Safety for kids include: 1 – Never swim alone – ask a grownup if you want to jump in; 2 – Know your surroundings – look around and know which is the shallow and deep end; and 3 – Take swimming classes – learn basic swimming skills like floating and strokes before getting in the pool.

In addition to the PSA, Nickelodeon has partnered with the Michael Phelps Foundation to develop an interactive PAW Patrol Swim Safety toolkit, currently available at nickjr.com.au/watersafety

The toolkit includes printable activities that caregivers and kids can complete together, to teach and reinforce the importance of water safety, such as: The Swim Safety Maze Challenge; Zuma’s Swim Safety Count and Colour activity, which teaches kids the importance of blowing bubbles; and a water safety demo in the form of a game of ‘Show-see-do.”

“Water Safety has been a priority in my family since I was a child as my mum was adamant that my sisters and I learn to swim for safety purposes. The statistics around accidental drowning are alarming and we want to help educate and encourage families with a few basic tips in a fun and informative way, thanks to Nickelodeon and the PAW Patrol pups,” said Phelps.

Royal Life Saving Australia’s 2020 National Drowning Report found 50% of drowning fatalities of children between 0 and 4 happened in a swimming pool with 75% as a result of a fall. 25% of drowning fatalities of children aged between 5 and 14 were also in a swimming pool with 56% as a result of swimming and recreation.

The PAW Patrol Safety First! prosocial global initiative made its debut in the U.S. in July 2020.

To launch the PAW Patrol Safety First! initiative down under, Chase the Police Pup and Marshall the Firedog teamed up with Network 10's Bondi Rescue lifeguards, including Head-Lifeguard Bruce "Hoppo" Hopkins.


The Michael Phelps Foundation (MPF) is focused on promoting water safety, healthy living, and the pursuit of dreams, especially for children. Hasbro Launches New 'Peppa Pig' Audio Stories on Digital Streaming Platforms

10 new Peppa Pig audio stories will be available on Amazon Prime, Apple Music and Spotify from 23rd November 2020.


Hasbro (NASDAQ: HAS) has announced exciting plans to release a series of brand new Peppa Pig audio stories across multiple digital streaming platforms globally including Amazon Prime, Apple Music and Spotify and more from Monday 23rd November 2020.

For the first time ever, families will have the opportunity to enjoy a range of 10 fun and familiar Peppa Pig audio stories narrated by the familiar voice of John Sparkes, the show's narrator and based on some of the most popular episodes from the hit animated TV series. They will be available in English language only and will launch in batches of two every two weeks. Titles include: "George’s New Dinosaur", "Shake, Rattle & Bang", "Mr Bull’s New Road", "Whistling", "Nursery Rhymes", "Secret Club", "Pirate Treasure", "Grandpa Pig’s Greenhouse", "Noisy Night" and "Bedtime Story".


“We want to be wherever our fans are with great content and our move into audio-first content reflects that,” said eOne’s Esra Cafer, SVP Global Brand Management. “What we’re really excited about is just how good these stories are. They capture all the values, storytelling and humour of our brilliant show to give our listeners a wonderfully immersive audio story experience – we can’t wait for Peppa fans to discover them.”

The launch will be supported by an extensive marketing campaign across social and digital media including the brand’s own high reach digital channels.

This latest deal follows the huge success of the brand’s first digital music album release, Peppa Pig: My First Album, in July 2019 which has hit more than 24 million streams worldwide and inspired a licensing range for teens in Urban Outfitters this fall in the U.S.

Danone Launches Festive-Themed 'PAW Patrol'-Branded Danonino Products in Spain

Danone has announced the PAWsome news that its Danonino line of fresh dairy products designed for kids has partnered with ViacomCBS Consumer Products Latinoamérica to launch a limited edition festive range of PAW Patrol-branded products in Spain!


As part of the campaign, packaging on selected Danonino products will feature Chase, Marshall, Skye, Rubble and other characters from Nickelodeon's beloved CG-animated preschool series dressed in Christmas costumes.


Additionally, by scanning the special code on selected flavours, children will be able to unlock an official certificate which will make them official members of the PAW Patrol for their good behaviour during this difficult year.

Nickelodeon Shortlisted for a Raft of Awards in the 2021 Kidscreen Awards

The children's entertainment and media news website Kidscreen has announced the exciting news that Nickelodeon has received a raft of nominations in the 2021 Kidscreen Awards!


In the "Preschool Programming" category, Blue’s Clues & You! (9 Story Media Group, Brown Bag Films) and Science Saves the Day: PAW Patrol (Nickelodeon, Noggin) have been nominated for the "Best Mixed-Media Series" award, whilst Monster Measurements (Nickelodeon, Noggin) and Winner at Dinner (Nickelodeon, Noggin) have been nominated for "Best Short Film". Additionally, Hey Duggee (Studio AKA, BBC Studios, BBC Children’s), which airs on Nick Jr. in the U.S. has been nominated for "Best Animated Series".

In the "Kids Programming" category, Nickelodeon's Are You Afraid of the Dark? revival (Ace Entertainment, Nickelodeon) has received a nomination for "Best Live-Action Series".

In the "Tweens/Teens Programming" categories, AwesomenessTV's Trinkets (Netflix, AwesomenessTV) has been nominated for "Best Live-Action Series", and Find Me In Paris Season Three (Cottonwood Media, ZDF Enterprises, Opéra National de Paris), currently airing on Nickelodeon UK & Ireland, has been nominated for the "Best Inclusivity" award.

In the "Broadcasting: Digital - Preschool" category, Blue’s Clues & You: Time for School (Nickelodeon Games) has been nominated for the "Best Game App—Branded" award, whilst Nick Jr. favorite Canticos has received two nominations: "Best Learning App—Branded" for Canticos Bilingual Preschool (Encantos Media Studios) and "Best Web/App Series—Branded" for Canticos Volume Three (Encantos Media Studios)

Winners will be announced at a special online gala awards ceremony to be held during Kidscreen Summit Virtual on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.

The Nickelodeon UK Network's ratings were a bit of a mixed bag again this week, according to BARB data. Ratings were up for Nickelodeon compared to the previous week (Nov. 2-8), with The Crystal Maze USA finally making the chart. Danger Force also continues to do well.

Nicktoons' ratings were down this week, with Horrid Henry being the most watched show.

Nick Jr. saw a sharp fall this week, however, new series Santiago of the Seas continues to do well. Meanwhile, with Nick Jr. Too currently hosting Nick Jr. Peppa, Peppa Pig dominated the channel's ratings this week, albeit ratings were slightly up over last week.

P.: ¿Qué significa para ti formar parte de la serie?
G.L.: Siempre tuve la suerte de estar rodeado de gente increíblemente talentosa. Es muy divertido saber que todo lo que puedo expresar con mi voz para esta serie es gracioso.

P.: ¿Por qué es importante la serie?
G.L.: The Casagrande es importante porque sabes que facilitará la realización del próximo espectáculo animado. Es genial poder reírse de personajes con los que nos identificamos y de aquellos que nos son familiares.

Nickelodeon's 'Counting Stars' Heads into Production

Counting Stars, Nickelodeon's brand-new music-themed series is heading into production! The news was revealed on OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder on his official Instagram Stories.


It's been a while since we heard any news about the project. First announced at Nickelodeon Upfront 2019 under the working title Simon Fuller/Ryan Tedder-Produced Untitled Project, Nickelodeon/Uptown issued a casting call for leads in October 2019 for talented kids aged 12-15. Rehearsals were slated to begin in December last year followed by filming in January this year. However, production was delayed until now, most likely due to the on-going COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Counting Stars is a new scripted music series following a group of mega-talented freshmen at the most elite music performance boarding school in the country who compete to perform at the year end talent showcase. Each episode will feature original music.

Musician Jenna Raine revealed on Instagram that the show may have found its cast: dancer, actor and model Liv Simone, America's Got Talent contestant Angie Green, and musician Ben Krieger.

For the casting call, Nickelodeon and Uptown revealed the show's lead characters and their traits:

Taylor Hutchinson (Lead): Female, 13-15
the most talented singer in the class, Taylor is a street-smart girl who’s bursting with natural vocal talent.
