VIACOMCBS INTERNATIONAL STUDIOS ELEVATES CONTENT SALES LEADERSHIP, LAUNCHES VIACOMCBS INTERNATIONAL STUDIOS DISTRIBUTION
LONDON / NEW YORK, OCTOBER 7, 2020 – ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS), a division of ViacomCBS Networks International (VCNI), today announced a new unified structure, ViacomCBS International Studios Distribution, which will encompass all studio sales business including co-productions, presale, formats, tape sales and co-developments. Under the unified structure, the company’s former IPS (International Program Sales) division, which previously focused on tape and format sales for network-branded content outside Latin America including the Nickelodeon library and MTV formats, is now combined with VIS’s sales division, which previously focused on VIS original content revenues only.
To lead ViacomCBS International Studios Distribution, Lauren Marriott has been appointed Senior Vice President of Sales & Business Operations and Distribution Lead for the UK, and Laura Burrell will serve as Vice President, International Formats, both effective immediately. Marriott will dually report to Pierluigi Gazzolo, President, Studios and Streaming, VCNI, and Arran Tindall, Chief Commercial Officer and Executive Vice President, Commercial & Content Distribution, VCNI. Burrell will report to Kate Laffey, Vice President, VIS.
Marriott and Burrell will collaborate closely with Laffey to grow VIS’s global footprint. The new division will play an integral part in supporting ViacomCBS’s larger studio and media networks businesses. The streamlined sales division will ensure access to broad content distribution rights across all platforms and will promote a centralized leadership structure to ensure timely, efficient processes that better serve clients worldwide. Distribution Leads within each cluster will lead Content Sales Specialists, who will also focus on co-pros & pre-sales.
Marriott has been with ViacomCBS since 2008, and in her new role will drive a central strategy to expand VIS’s sales and distribution by collaborating closely with ViacomCBS Media Networks in the U.S. and VCNI’s international brands, including Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central and BET. In addition to oversight of Tape Sales for ViacomCBS’s legacy branded networks business, Marriott will manage all tape sales internationally for VIS original products in partnership with the clusters. As well as managing stakeholder relationships across the company’s international studios and brands, Marriott will oversee central business operations, including legal, operations, finance, marketing, and global content licensing revenues.
Burrell, who joined ViacomCBS in 2009, will oversee the continued growth of VCNI and VIS’s format libraries. Burrell will focus on increasing revenue from 3rd party format sales, co-productions and pre-sales, in addition to supporting VCNI’s local channel format adaptations. She will also oversee an increased portfolio that now includes all scripted and non-scripted titles, including those from Telefe, Awesomeness TV and Ananey. She will also be responsible for multi-territory and strategic 3rd party format deals, while overseeing sales in all territories worldwide. She will lead on the development of global rollout strategies for new formats to ensure success and visibility of all properties. In her new role, Burrell will be the key point person for all format-related business for VCNI and VIS.

The promotions come as VIS adds new kids content to its slate. Hasbro held their latest Fan Friday Livestream for Power Rangers, and during the event, they revealed a multitude of new toy lines, figures, and more. One of the most anticipated reveals though surrounded the upcoming season Power Rangers Dino Fury, specifically the official reveal of the rest of the cast, and ComicBook has given us our official first look at the core cast of Dino Fury, plus had the chance to chat with the new cast and talk to them about finding out they were Rangers, what they love about the franchise, and more! The full cast includes Russell Curry (Red), Kai Moya (Blue), Hunter Deno (Pink), Tessa Rao (Green), and Chance Perez (Black), and you can find all the character details, bios, photos, and more below!
First though CB wanted to ask if they were fans of the franchise before they auditioned, and what they loved about the franchise most.
"I grew up watching Power Rangers and was a HUGE fan as a kid! I had so many of the toys and watched the show every day after school," Curry said. "I love that the franchise teaches lessons about teamwork to the next generation. It’s so important that we find ways to work together to face challenges despite our differences, and that’s what the Rangers do in every episode!"
"My uncle is a huge fan of Power Rangers and has been ever since he was a kid," Moya said. "I remember watching it with him growing up. The thing I love the most about the franchise is its ability to inspire the youth. Power Rangers teaches kids to be courageous and that teamwork is crucial!"
"Who isn’t a fan of Power Rangers?! To me, they’re one of the most iconic super heroes to date," Deno said. "I love how much the franchise really boosts their Rangers; the lessons that are taught are so important in life. To be a Ranger, inspiring and showing kids who watch what we can be, is going to be so rewarding."
"I grew up hearing a lot about it and knew it was this incredible legacy, but never imagined I’d get to be a part of it," Rao said. "I love what the franchise represents; we can always try to be better, whether that’s for our own life or in someone else’s, and if you are courageous and kind, anyone can be a Power Ranger - even me!"
"I grew up with Power Rangers! When I was a little six-year-old kid, I had the movies, the weapons, a costume or two, and even the PR underwear," Perez said. "I’d say that my favorite thing about the Power Rangers franchise are the lessons they teach in each episode. Their positive attitudes and outlooks on whatever situation befell them. Now, we may not all be fighting literal 50ft tall monsters, but we all have our own demons in our lives. Power Rangers taught me that we have to keep trying, even if we don’t get it right the first time around"

Russell Curry grew up in Rancho Cucamonga, California, a quiet suburb of Los Angeles. He reluctantly took his first acting class as a junior at Alta Loma High School and fell in love with it, much to his surprise.
Since then, Russell has dedicated himself to projects with a purpose and bringing smiles to people's faces. In his free time, he loves eating great food, spending time with family, and cheering on his LA Clippers through thick and thin.
Russell is truly honored with the opportunity to serve as a role model for young people as he joins Power Ranger family.

A Surreal Moment
It's gotta be a pretty surreal moment when you find out you're going to be a Power Ranger. What can you tell us about that moment and who was the first person you told?
"It was a bittersweet moment when I found out," Curry said. "I was actually with my family preparing for a memorial service, but as soon as I got the news I told my whole family who were all really happy for me. I am grateful that I was with the people closest to me, even though it wasn’t under the best circumstances."
"I was absolutely stoked when I found out I was going to be a Power Ranger," Moya said. "I also felt very relieved because it took a while until I heard back. My first audition was back in March, and I found out I was casted on August 13th! The first person I called was my mom, but she didn’t answer because she was working. So my dad found out before her!"
"Honestly, it’s still so surreal," Deno said. "I end up reminding myself every day that I’m a Power Ranger! I was with my best friend, Madison Bailey, the day I got the call. I knew it was about the project as soon as my agent called. He answered so casually, too. Just started off with “hey how are ya?” Then he goes on and says “Unfortunately.... it looks like you’re going to have to go to New Zealand. You’re the new Pink Power Ranger.” And at the time I thought I was auditioning for the Yellow Ranger, so my response was, “PINK?!”. Maddie looked at me and I just nodded and instantly started crying. I immediately called my mom and I couldn’t even tell her, she knew right away. My mom is my BEST friend and my biggest supporter, so of course she was the first one I called."
"So surreal! It was all quite sudden and unexpected, in the most amazing way," Rao said. "I was outside my work on a break and I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I immediately rung my mum - my parents have been my biggest supporters and I couldn’t wait to share the news with them."
"The moment I found out, I was on a FaceTime call with my manager! He started out the call with, “I’M TALKING TO THE NEW BLACK POWER RANGER BABY!” My immediate reaction was, “NO WAY! What?! Are you kidding me?!” Then my sister and my mom came shooting down the
hall in excitement, and we all began screaming and shouting! There was so much happiness, excitement and encouragement from my family. I won’t ever forget that day," Perez said.

Kainalu Moya was born and raised in Kaneohe, Oahu (Hawai'i). His first name means "Ocean Wave" in Hawaiian. In addition to his Hawaiian blood, he also has Japanese, Chinese and Filipino heritage.
He took his first theatre class during his first semester of college and that ignited his interest in acting. He moved to Los Angeles at the end of 2018 to pursue his dream. He is an avid runner and surfer.

Hunter Deno was born and raised in Orlando Florida. She booked her first commercial on her first birthday and never looked back. She loves to travel and explore the outdoors. Especially on her family’s ranch where she enjoys the company of her cows, donkey and dogs. She is thrilled to be apart of Power Ranger history.
Stunts, Costume, or Morph?
After you got the part, what were you looking forward to most? Doing some stunts, wearing the costume, or doing the morphing sequence?
"Wearing the costume! I used to pretend I was the Red Ranger when I was a kid, so seeing myself in the suit is a truly surreal, full-circle experience," Curry said.
"When I found out I got the part, I was so excited to work with the stunt team. My ultimate goal is to be in action films, so I was so pumped about that," Moya said.
"I feel like there wasn’t one thing in particular I was looking forward to most," Deno said. "I’ve trained a little in the stunt world before, so getting to train with the stunt team was really exciting for me. Nothing will beat putting THE suit on for the first time though. It’s extremely empowering, especially completing it while doing the morphing sequence in full costume."
"I couldn’t wait to do all of it! I was most looking forward to getting to learn heaps of stunts but there is something incredibly special about wearing the suit," Rao said. "When I tried it on for the first time, I almost cried (but don’t tell anyone!)."
"Definitely the costume and stunts," Perez said. "When I was younger, all my friends and I would pretend we were Power Rangers, kicking and punching the air, trying to imitate them. I can’t believe that I actually get to do that now! The inner child in me is living his dream."

Tessa Rao’s introduction to acting began at an early age, with her love for music and theatre gradually developing into a strong passion for the film industry. Her multicultural background helped her to appreciate diversity in the human experience and made her increasingly curious to understand why people are the way they are. After finishing school, during which time she travelled to the Globe to perform as Celia in ‘As You Like It’ and starred opposite Willow Shields in feature film “Into the Rainbow”,
Tessa was accepted into The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, California. This further cemented her love of performing, and she graduated in 2019, before spending time working in the US in film and theatre. Some of her theatre credits include Abigail in The Crucible, R.P McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Vanessa in In the Heights. Tessa has an ATCL Diploma in Performance and is a passionate writer, singer/songwriter, and musician.

Chance Perez was born on November 10, 1997 to Shawne Lanee Perez and Albert Louie Perez Jr. He has two sisters: Aspen Kaye Perez and Presley Kaye Perez.
Raised in Seal Beach, California, Chance has harbored a deep passion for the entertainment industry since he was a child, and after appearing on America’s Got Talent and the Boyband Project signed a major record deal with Hollywood Records, after winning the ABC series, Boyband, as part of the group In Real Life. He was inspired by his father, a musician himself, whom Chance lost when he was only eight years old. He has cited his father to be his greatest inspiration.
Chance has a 5 year old daughter, Brooklyn, who is his pride and joy and before his path in show business, he became a certified EMT and was on course to becoming a trained firefighter to support her.
A self titled Power Rangers super fan, Chance grew up on the series. "It is a dream come true to be part of this legacy”.
While shooting Power Rangers in New Zealand, Chance is also busy working on solo music, which we can expect in the coming months.
Animal Sidekick
If your character could have any animal or robot sidekick, what would it be and why? I would have a small monkey named Rayner who owns a small taco truck business. Yes that's very specific but don't judge me!
"Zayto would totally have a Velociraptor as a sidekick," Curry said.
"Ollie would definitely have a robotic reptile sidekick of some sort," Moya said. "Personally, I would love to have a shark as my sidekick. I love the ocean and it would be nice to have a shark friend out in the water when I’m surfing!"
"I think Amelia would have a dog," Deno said. "And I’m thinking something like a golden retriever or a labradoodle. To get even more specific I think its name would be Ranger(duh)."
"Without a doubt, I would have a little Saber Tooth Tiger Cub called Billie who loves Athletics," Rao said. "I imagine she’s especially good at Long Jump!"
"No judgment from my end! :) I’d say if I had to choose an animal for my character, I’d choose a Black Phoenix," Perez said. "I don't have any specific reasoning, however, I love that the Phoenix symbolizes transformation, rebirth and hope. I'd say that's a great companion to keep around."

Preschoolers will set sail for swashbuckling adventures in Nickelodeon’s brand-new animated series Santiago of the Seas, premiering Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 7:30 a.m. (ET/PT) on Treehouse Canada. Infused with a Spanish-language and Latino-Caribbean culture curriculum, the action-adventure series (20 episodes) follows 8-year-old Santiago “Santi” Montes, a brave and kind-hearted pirate, as he embarks on daring rescues, searches for treasures and keeps the high seas safe in a fantastical Caribbean world. London - Preschoolers will set sail for swashbuckling adventures in Nickelodeon’s brand-new animated series Santiago of the Seas, premiering Monday 2nd November 2020 at 6:00pm on Nick Jr. UK & Ireland. Kevin Chacon as Santiago Montes
Kevin Chacon is the voice of Santiago “Santi” Montes, a brave and kind-hearted, 8-year-old pirate who sets sail on amazing adventures, searches for hidden treasure, always stands by his best mates and keeps the high seas safe from villains as the pirate protector of Isla Encanto.
Chacon discovered his passion for the arts at nine years old while taking acting classes at Rybin Studio of Drama. He later went on to appear in a variety of theatre, commercial and TV projects, including Marvel’s critically acclaimed Jessica Jones on Netflix as “Vido;’’ the lead role in the renowned bilingual stage adaption of The Little Prince; and Nickelodeon promos for Double Dare, Hispanic Heritage Month and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Chacon is of Costa Rican heritage and a recipient of the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA) and Association of Critics of Entertainment (ACE) Awards for Emerging Artist of the Year. He loves spending time with his family, playing basketball, skateboarding, swimming, dancing and singing.
Justice Quiroz as Tom谩s Gaviota
Justice Quiroz is the voice of Tom谩s Gaviota, Santiago’s cousin and first mate. He plays a magical Calavera cuatro guitar that can be used to harness the wind as he sails the high seas with Santiago. A little clumsy and full of energy, Tom谩s is a loveable comedic sidekick whose loyalty for his cousin helps him overcome his many fears.
Quiroz began acting at the age of seven and his professional television credits include appearances on Billions (Showtime) and Pinkalicious & Peterrific (PBS), where he lends his voice to multiple characters.
In his spare time, he likes to dance, sing, play sports, hang out with his beloved French Bulldog, Prince, and eat his favorite Dominican and Chinese foods.
Alyssa Cheatham as Lorelai
Alyssa Cheatham is the voice of Lorelai, a 150-year-old mermaid who has a vast knowledge of the ocean and can speak to sea creatures. Her magical pearl bracelet allows her to transform into a young human girl so she can go on pirate adventures with Santiago and Tom谩s.
A passionate actress, model and recording artist, Cheatham began acting at three years old, landing her first film role in Every Secret Thing and has appeared in 11 films to date. She is best known for playing Will Smith’s daughter Olivia in Collateral Beauty (Warner Bros.). Cheatham can next be seen in a recurring role in the upcoming series The Flight Attendant (HBO Max), which stars Kaley Cuoco and T.R. Knight, as well as the Alan Ritchson-directed film Cicada 3301.
Also a singer, Cheatham has two singles “The Weekend” and “Like it Here” available on iTunes. When she’s not working, Cheatham enjoys hanging out with her family and friends, drawing, singing, dancing, making TikTok videos and traveling. She is currently writing her own movie script.
Kyndra Sanchez as Bonnie Bones
Kyndra Sanchez is the voice of Bonnie Bones, a nefarious pirate and Santiago’s archnemesis. Self-centered and very outspoken, she’s persistent in her pursuit of power and pirate booty, and nothing drives her crazier than Santiago’s do-gooder attitude and kind heart.
Sanchez is an actress, model, singer, musician and athlete. She has appeared on Sesame Street (PBS) and lent her voice to several series and projects, including Butterbean’s Caf茅 (Nickelodeon), A Bug’s Life (Amazon), Dora and Friends: Into the City! (Nickelodeon), Super Wings (Little Airplane Productions) and A Very Grammy Christmas (CBS). Sanchez has also been featured in multiple commercials, as well as national and international print ads for brands like Target, Timberland and Justice. She can next be seen in a supporting role in Netflix’s upcoming feature film, Finding Ohana.
An animal lover, Sanchez likes to sing, dance, swim, do gymnastics, play the guitar and piano, and volunteer in her community.
John Leguizamo as Sir Butterscotch
John Leguizamo is the voice of Sir Butterscotch, Bonnie’s Palm Crow sidekick. Although loyal to Bonnie, he is quite the chatterbox and truth teller, so when he’s impressed by Santiago’s swashbuckling skills, he’ll announce it for all to hear.
A multifaceted performer and Emmy Award-winner, Leguizamo’s work in film, theatre, television and literature spans a variety of genres. He was nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series for his work on Netflix’s When They See Us, as well as Paramount Network’s WACO. Leguizamo’s successful one-man show on Broadway Latin History for Morons was turned into a Netflix special and he also starred in the third season of Netflix’s critically acclaimed, Emmy-nominated series, Bloodline.
Leguizamo’s professional film credits include: Playing with Fire (Paramount Pictures), The Infiltrator (Broad Green Pictures), Sisters (Universal Pictures), American Ultra (Lionsgate), The Hollow Point (Atlas Independent), Chef (Open Road Films), Ride Along (Universal Pictures) and John Wick 2 (Lionsgate).

Niki L贸pez Creator and Co-Executive Producer, Santiago of the Seas
Niki L贸pez is creator and co-executive producer of Nickelodeon’s new animated preschool series, Santiago of the Seas. Infused with a Spanish-language and Latino-Caribbean culture curriculum, the action-adventure series follows 8-year-old Santiago Montes, a brave and kind-hearted pirate, as he embarks on daring rescues, searches for treasures and keeps the high seas safe from villains like the nefarious pirate Bonnie Bones in a fantastical Caribbean world.
Prior to L贸pez fulfilling her dream of creating her own series, her journey at Nickelodeon began as an intern in 2010. Most recently, she served as a color stylist on Nick’s animated series Glitch Techs, an adventure-comedy following two newly recruited kids as they battle video game monsters that come to life in the real world. She previously worked as a production assistant on Nick’s Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and as a color stylist on The Fairly OddParents and Harvey Beaks, following a brief stint in advertising and as a freelance comic artist in Puerto Rico.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, L贸pez’s childhood was fueled by adventure and an imagination cultivated by her tropical backdrop. Inspired to seek out visual arts and storytelling as a creative outlet, she graduated with a BFA in Illustration from Ringling College of Arts & Design in Sarasota, Fla.

Leslie Valdes is creator and executive producer of Nickelodeon’s new animated preschool series, Santiago of the Seas. Infused with a Spanish-language and Latino-Caribbean culture curriculum, the action-adventure series follows 8-year-old Santiago Montes, a brave and kind-hearted pirate, as he embarks on daring rescues, searches for treasures and keeps the high seas safe from villains like the nefarious pirate Bonnie Bones in a fantastical Caribbean world. Valdes also voices Santiago’s abuelo, Antonio Gaviota, in the series.
Valdes served as a staff writer from the inception of the global phenomenon Dora the Explorer and later went on to co-develop and serve as head writer and producer for Disney Junior’s hit preschool series, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He has written for numerous hit animated series such as the The Backyardigans and Handy Manny and developed TV pilots for Nickelodeon and Playhouse Disney. A former ABC/Disney Writing Fellow, Valdes also worked as a staff writer on ABC’s hit drama, Castle.
Born in Cuba, Valdes came to the U.S. when he was five years old. After attending the prestigious Boston Latin High School, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English & American Literature from Brandeis University. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film, with a concentration in screenwriting from Columbia University. Valdes lives in New York City with his wife Valerie Walsh Valdes and their two daughters.

Valerie Walsh Valdes is creator and executive producer of Nickelodeon’s new animated preschool series, Santiago of the Seas. Walsh Valdes began her career in kids’ TV as an intern at Nickelodeon and later went on to co-create and executive produce the global phenomenon Dora the Explorer, as well as the hit preschool series Go, Diego, Go! and Dora and Friends: Into the City! for the network. As a showrunner, she has produced numerous animated television programs seen in over 150 countries and translated into over 30 languages.
Highly acclaimed for fusing interactivity with narrative storytelling to create immersive, high-stakes adventures filled with heart and whimsy, Walsh Valdes is the recipient of the prestigious Peabody Award for Outstanding Children’s Programming, in addition to multiple Imagen Awards, NAACP Image Awards and Parents’ Choice Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards.
A graduate of New York University, Walsh Valdes earned a master’s degree in Film and Dramatic Writing, and a master’s degree in Education. She lives with her husband Leslie Valdes and their two daughters in New York City.
