– Animated Preschool Series ‘Santiago of the Seas’ Debuts Friday, Oct. 9th at 12:30 p.m. (ET/PT) –

MIAMI, FL – September 30, 2020 – Organizers of the Calle Ocho Live virtual festival (www.CalleOchoLive.com) announced today that Nickelodeon has joined as a sponsor of the Oct. 4th Hispanic Heritage Month event. As part of its sponsorship, Nickelodeon will showcase its brand-new animated bilingual show for preschoolers, Santiago of the Seas, premiering Friday, Oct. 9th at 12:30 p.m. (ET/PT). The series will be featured in a segment supporting the Kiwanis of Little Havana and the essential role that its 43-year Calle Ocho Music Festival plays in serving more than 10,000 disadvantaged families annually.

Infused with a Spanish-language and Latino-Caribbean culture curriculum, Santiago of the Seas is an action-adventure series that follows 8-year-old Santiago “Santi” Montes, a brave and kind-hearted pirate, as he embarks on daring rescues, searches for treasures and keeps the high seas safe in a fantastical Caribbean world.

“A lot of people are unaware that behind our great pop culture institution is serious social good work that has been crippled by COVID and the abrupt cancellation of our festival in March,” said Jorge Fernandez, president of the Kiwanis of Little Havana/Carnaval Miami. “We’re extremely grateful to have the support of Nickelodeon for our virtual festival and the Kiwanis charities that work to empower kids to be brave, kind and a good friend to others–just like Santiago.”
