'Ricky Zoom' to Zoom Onto Nick Jr. Australia

Entertainment One (eOne) has announced new broadcast deals for its all-bike CGI-animated preschool series, Ricky Zoom, that will see it race onto TV screens across Australia for the first time.

The 52x11-minute episodes from season one of Ricky Zoom are set to launch on Nickelodeon’s top-rated preschool channel, Nick Jr., in Australia from Monday 20 July 2020, with new episodes airing weekdays at 10:00am.

From November 2020, Ricky Zoom will also begin airing on Australian free-to-air (FTA) network Channel 9 to further accelerate exposure in the region.

eOne’s Monica Candiani, EVP content sales, family brands, said: “We’re proud to be bringing Ricky Zoom to audiences in Australia by extending our partnership with Nickelodeon and welcoming Channel 9 as our terrestrial partner in the region. Ricky Zoom is an action comedy adventure series with real heart and these latest deals are testament to the strong appeal of the show.”

Since it debuted on screens in late 2019, Ricky Zoom has raced to success achieving outstanding ratings in multiple markets. The show’s combination of speed and cool stunts has introduced a world of biking adventures to mini bike-lovers. Nick Jr. is already home to the show in both the US, UK and France, whilst Australia’s Channel 9 joins a growing list of broadcast partners bringing the show to a global audience. These include CCTV (China), Channel 5 Milkshake! (UK), Clan TV (Spain), Discovery Kids (Latin America), Thai PBS (Thailand), Gulli (France), Karusel (Russia), Minika Cocuk (Turkey), NRK (Norway), RAI (Italy), Spacetoon (MENA), Super RTL (Germany), SVT (Sweden), Treehouse (Canada) and Youku (China).

The property’s growing popularity was evident in the response to its first app, Welcome to Wheelford, which has been downloaded more than 4 million times globally since its release in August 2019.

Ricky Zoom follows the adventures of Ricky, a little red rescue bike, and his loyal Bike Buddies as they zoom around their Wheelford community helping others, trying out new stunts, and learning to stand on their own two wheels.

Meet the Bike Buddies along for the ride:

- Ricky Zoom – A little rescue bike that loves to go fast, Ricky is a loyal friend and natural leader of the Bike Buddies.

- Loop Hoopla – An adventurous dirt bike with a happy-go-lucky attitude, Loop loves having fun and trying crazy new stunts.

- Scootio Wizzbang – Scootio is bright, brainy and never afraid to speak her mind. She loves using her technical genius and gadgets to solve problems.

- DJ Rumbler – DJ has a huge heart and would do anything for his friends. He also has a super toolbox and a robotic arm, so there is nothing he cannot build—or knock down.

Developed by Emmy Award-winning creator Alexander Bar and production house Frog Box, Ricky Zoom highlights the importance of friendship, resourcefulness, community and teamwork. Celebrating differences is one of many zoomtastic themes within the series.

The series has been renewed for season two (52×11 minute episodes).
