Indeed, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix appears to be coming soon, and will presumably be announced soon. The rating on the Australian Classification website doesn't tell us much (other than that the game exists), but the retail listing on Target's website gives us some brief information.
Listed on the website for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X, the upcoming racer seems to be a massively expanded version of the series’ previous entry. It's currently unknown whether it'll be released on the upcoming PS5.
The game will be released on October 6, 2020, and will carry a pricetag of $39.99.
While the first game pushed itself as the defacto representation of Nickelodeon’s large cast of beloved characters, the game only included characters from SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Rugrats and Hey Arnold!.
According to the webpage, the sequel is set to include 30 playable characters -- up from the original's 12 -- along with 70 "companion characters", also described as crew members. Judging by this, it seems the sequel will have a much wider representation of Nick's back catalogue. In fact, shows and characters named in the product listing include JoJo Siwa, SpongeBob, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, Hey Arnold!, The Legend of Korra and The Loud House. It also seems the sequel will feature online multiplayer for eight-player races, more tracks, and customisable karts. It's billed as a bigger, better version of 2018's first game in the series.
Update: Revealed during today's IGN Expo, the game will also include Invader Zim, Danny Phantom and Rocko's Modern Life! The game will feature 28 tracks (both new and remade), a suite of other Nick characters appearing as pit crew, and customisable karts will feature parts inspired by Nick shows. One of the courses will be themed after Double Dare.
With four-player split-screen, or eight-player online co-op and a lot of slime, it's billed as a bigger, better version of 2018's first game in the series.
Unfortunately, it doesn't feature characters from Glitch Techs, a show about video games.
