The beloved Nickelodeon star is in town for Nick Jr. Live! this weekend at the Benedum Center, Downtown. She will be joining characters from PAW Patrol and Bubble Guppies for the live show.
The national touring show, produced by Nickelodeon and Minneapolis-based VStar, has performances Friday, January 17 through Sunday, January 19 at the Benedum Center, Downtown.
The audience will have a chance to do the “Pup Pup Boogie” with Blue, the inquisitive canine from Blue’s Clues and Blue's Clues & You!.
Dora surprised the children at Brightside and spent time teaching them a dance and playing in the classroom after Kaitlyn Sage, a representative for the show, read the book “Puppy Dance Party” from Paw Patrol.
Sage said reading the book is important because it reinforces the importance of reading in everyday learning.
“This is such a fun way to connect with the kids,” Sage told TribLIVE.com. “We love seeing the excitement on their faces. Here we get to be close to them. It’s different when you are on the stage and they are in the audience.”
Sage and Dora taught the little ones a dance similar to what they do in the show. This is the type of visit they do when they visit a city reaching out to daycare centers, schools and hospitals.
Brightside Academy director Jennifer Koerber said the kids were thrilled to meet Dora.
“They are all so happy,” Koerber said. “That is what this is all about. The experiences they’ve had with Nickelodeon now come to life. It’s reality. It is also something different than they normally do in a day. They loved it.”
Nick Jr. Live! "Move to the Music" is a brand-new musical spectacular features, for the first time ever on one stage, characters from multiple hit Nickelodeon preschool animated series, including Bubble Guppies, PAW Patrol, Dora the Explorer, Shimmer and Shine, Blue's Clues & You!, Blaze and the Monster Machines and Top Wing.
