All That star Ryan Alessi opens up about his journey from Second City to Nickelodeon: 'It's good to have nervousness'
In an super interview with MEA WorldWide, Alessi spoke about his incredible journey from The Second City Improvisational Comedy Troupe to the reboot of the beloved Nickelodeon show
Nickelodeon's legendary '90s sketch show All That saw an impressive reboot that premiered on June 15 this year. The revived series includes a talented and diverse group of comedians who reflect the spirit and humor of today’s generation of kids. And among the talented comedians, one famous name happens to be Ryan Alessi, whose journey from the comedy troupe Second City to Nickelodeon has been nothing short of inspiring.
In an awesome interview with MEA Worldwide (MEAWW), Alessi spoke about how he started out at Second City in Chicago and what a great experience it has been so far for him. "My favorite part of going to Second City was that there was a wall of the celebrities that used to go there like Tina Fey was on the wall!' said Alessi. "Sean Hayes was on the wall, along with some other really big people, and it's a place where dreams are made. The first class I ever took there - I was like, this is what I want to do, and comedy is been such a great experience for me so far."

Talking about how he is able to bring the same element of comedy on All That, Alessi said: "I love this show and improv is such a great thing where you can take chances and you could just be a different character."
Having worked with many of the current cast members of All That in Second City, Alessi has been able to find himself in familiar territories. "I was working with other kids," Alessi says about his work in the sketch comedy troupe, adding: "I have not gone to the adult program yet. But when I get older, I'm hopeful of joining that. But I was working with other kids and it was literally just a kids' sketch comedy, kind of like the show Whose Line Is It Anyway but for kids. So many talented kids came out of Second City."
Despite being one of the wonderful talents in the cast of All That, Alessi acknowledges that nervousness will always be a part of the routine, and that's not entirely bad. "I was so nervous the first day because it was in front in front of a live audience. It was the first time I'd ever been in front of a live audience that big and I was getting like dead butterflies in my stomach." And that's when series regular Kel Mitchell stepped in with some sound advice for Alessi.
"He (Mitchell) told me that he was like that the first day, how you'll probably most likely be nervous, but that's okay because it's good to have that kind of nervousness. Because then you get used to it over time and it's good to have those butterflies in your stomach because it makes you perform 10 times more and really go a hundred percent, and that's what I did and I had such a fun time doing that sketch."

Rizelle Januk plays the mother who battles to keep it all together in ‘Kings of Mulberry Street’
Durban actress and celebrity Rizelle Januk takes on the role of overworked yet spirited mother Charmaine who does her best to maintain order in the midst of the chaos of Sugarhill District, the fictional setting of Judy Naidoo’s latest film ‘Kings of Mulberry Street’, which will be n cinemas from 28 June 2019.

Having won a number of acting awards, Rizelle also appeared in the reality TV show ‘She’s the One. After dub smashing with Carly Rae Jepson, she has also appeared in many international commercials. She has starred in the short films ‘Dayfly, ‘Nye Emaar’, ‘Shadow’ (nominated for a SAFTA in 2018), Wide Eyed’ (nominated for a Simon Sabela 2018 award for Best Short Film), and ‘Knockout’ starring Irshaad Ally and Bonnie Mbuli. She has also appeared in a number of feature films, including ‘Dear Jasmine’, ‘Scorpion King’, and ‘The Book of Souls’.
Set in the early 80’s, the charming and hilarious ‘Kings of Mulberry Street’ tells the story of two young Indian boys who have to find a way to overcome their differences and unite in order to defeat the bullying local crime lord who’s threatening their families.
As the feisty overworked mother of three kids, Charmaine struggles to keep a happy family and make ends meet. To make matters worse she is pregnant with their fourth child and suffers bouts of morning sickness. She is in a constant state of panic.
Her son Ticky (Aaqil Hoosen) does not make life any easier. He’s the archetypal Indian artful dodger – cheeky and daring with a streetwise swagger and little respect for rules. He escapes the realities of his existence by living in a Bollywood dream world where he’s an unbeatable action hero. When chubby, timid Baboo (Shaan Nathoo) moves into the neighbourhood with his snooty, academic dad, Ticky thinks he’s the biggest loser he’s ever seen – but soon the two boys are drawn together and Charmaine is forced to stand by while they decide to rid their town of local bully and crime boss, Raja.
Rizelle grew up in Durban. She studied drama at school, and received the top mark for dramatic arts in her matric year. She went on to study at the University of Howard College, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Drama and Performance Studies and Media and Cultural Studies.
In 2015 she won a showcase for actors around the world held by an LA acting search engine called Cast It Talent. The piece she did was her own, and she competed with 80 actors who entered from around the world. In 2017 she won another LA competition to attend eight weeks of training at the BGB studios in Hollywood.
‘Kings of Mulberry Street’ brings together the vibrancy of the Indian community in the 80s as well as Bollywood cinema and songs from that era, in a tale that peers into the past through the prism of the present.
The film introduces Aaqil Hoosen (12) as Ticky Chetty, and Shaan Nathoo (9) as Baboo Harold Singh in the lead roles. Rounding out the cast are Thiru Naidoo, Rizelle Januk, Amith Sing, Neville Pillay, Keshan Chetty, Hamish Kyd, Kimberly Arthur and Chris Forrest. In the role of Granny Chetty is audience favourite Kogie Naidoo, known for her role as Amsugi in the ‘Broken Promises’ franchise and as Aunt Riya in ‘Florida Road.’
‘Kings of Mulberry Street’ will be distributed in South Africa by Indigenous film Distribution, in partnership with Nickelodeon and Comedy Central.

Der Leipziger Freizeitpark BELANTIS bekommt prominente personelle Unterstützung: Verschiedene international bekannte Charaktere des TV-Senders Nickelodeon begrüßen nunmehr täglich die Gäste. SpongeBob, die Ninja Turtles und Co. haben in dieser Woche offiziell ihren Dienst aufgenommen. Zudem hat Mitteldeutschlands größter Freizeitpark sein Jahreskartensystem umgestellt.
Mitteldeutsche Fans der weltberühmten Figuren des US-amerikanischen Kinder-Fernsehsenders Nickelodeon können sich freuen: Neun farbenfrohe TV-Stars begrüßen die Besucher des Leipziger Freizeitparks BELANTIS täglich live. Es handelt sich um SpongeBob, Patrick, die Ninja Turtles, Molly und Gil von den Bubble Guppies und Thaddäus. Damit wird das „AbenteuerReich“, das in diesem Jahr seinen 15. Geburtstag feiert, gleich um einige Attraktionen reicher. Die prominenten Helden werden den Gästen zu verschiedenen Tageszeiten im Rahmen von Meet & Greets mit ausgiebigen Fotomöglichkeiten zur Verfügung stehen.
„Wir sind stolz darauf, dass wir unseren Besuchern mit unseren international bekannten Stargästen weitere Highlights bieten können“, freut sich BELANTIS-Geschäftsführer Bazil El Atassi. Nickelodeon ist mit seiner Marke in diversen internationalen Freizeitparks in verschiedener Form präsent, so beispielsweise im Movie Park Germany bei Bottrop-Kirchhellen. „Der Movie Park hat mit den Figuren durchweg positive Erfahrungen gemacht, und ich bin überzeugt davon, dass auch unsere Gäste sie lieben werden“, so El Atassi.
Zeitgleich hat BELANTIS sein Jahreskartensystem umgestellt. Künftig haben Gäste die Möglichkeit, Mitteldeutschlands beliebtesten Freizeitpark an jedem beliebigen Öffnungstag der Saison mit den neu eingeführten Saisonpässen in den Kategorien Bronze, Silber und Gold zu besuchen. Hinter den verschiedenen Farben stehen unterschiedliche Zusatzleistungen und Vorteile, von denen die Stammbesucher künftig zusätzlich profitieren können. Während der Bronze-Saisonpass neben einer dauerhaften Besuchsmöglichkeit einen zehnprozentigen Preisvorteil auf Gastronomie- und Fanprodukte bietet, können Inhaber eines silberfarbenen Passes beispielsweise 15 Prozent beim Speisen- und Getränkeverzehr sparen, einmalig einen Freund kostenfrei mitbringen oder verschiedene zum Konzern gehörige Parks besuchen. Damit kostet der Bronzepass künftig lediglich fünf Euro mehr als ein Einmal-Ticket an der Tageskasse, das ab sofort für 36,50 Euro angeboten wird.
„Mit der Umstellung auf das neue Saisonpass-System kommen wir unseren treuesten Gästen noch mehr entgegen, nicht nur in preislicher Hinsicht, sondern auch mit den damit verbundenen attraktiven Leistungen.“, sagt El Atassi. „Die Jahreskarten sind jetzt noch günstiger geworden. Gleichzeitig haben wir eine sehr moderate gesamtpreisliche Anpassung an die Gegebenheiten des Marktes vorgenommen.“

Die TV-„Welpenwache“ PAW Patrol in BELANTIS ist mehrmals täglich im Freizeitpark zu sehen. Morgens und am Nachmittag stehen die PAW Patrol-Figuren im Freizeitpark auf dem Schlossplatz für Fotos und Kuscheleinheiten bereit, zur Mittagszeit sind die Charaktere an am Wasser im „Land der Grafen“ zu finden.
Die täglichen Showzeiten der Helden variieren dabei. Tagesaktuell informieren die Aushänge im Freizeitpark darüber, wann die PAW Patrol zu treffen ist. In BELANTIS vor Ort sind die Figuren Chase, Marshall und Skye.

Die neuen Stargäste des Nickelodeon-Areals im Freizeitpark Belantis wurden am Donnerstag von den Kindern die Zwenkauer Kita Pirateninsel begrüßt. Die Mädchen und Jungen durften Marshall, Chase und Skye in Empfang nehmen, die Helfer auf vier Pfoten der stets hilfsbereiten „Paw Patrol“. Klar, der Nachwuchs kennt die Hundewelpen auf Rettungsmission aus der Kinderserie.
Hundewelpen ergänzen Reigen der Nickelodeon-Stars
Dalmatiner Marshall kann nicht still sitzen, ist schnell aufgeregt und deshalb auch der Tollpatsch. „Alles okay“, ist sein Lieblingsspruch. Schäferhund Chase ist mit Polizeiauto und Megafon der geborene Anführer. Er steckt seine Schnauze tief in alle Probleme. Nur auf Katzen und Federn reagiert er allergisch. Skye heißt eine furchtlose und kluge Mischung aus Cockerspaniel und Pudel. Sie liebt es, in ihrem Hubschrauber zu fliegen oder mit den Flügeln aus ihrem Rucksack. Sie probiert alles mit einer Rolle rückwärts, Eleganz und einem Lächeln.
Das Trio ergänzt die Figuren Sponge Bob, Seestern Patrick und die Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, die morgens und am Nachmittag auf dem Schlossplatz und zur Mittagszeit an der Küste im Land der Grafen auf die kleinen und großen Fans warten. It's SpongeBob SquarePants' 20th anniversary, and to celebrate, Nickelodeon Latin America (Latinoamérica) will be hosting a Sponge-Tastic on-air party throughout July to celebrate 20 years of one of the most iconic TV series and characters ever created!
The party kicks off with the launch a Spongeriffic brand-new game made especially for the ultimate SpongeBob SquarePants (Bob Esponja) fans: SpongeMaster!
Beginning Monday 1st July 2019, children can tune into Nickelodeon Latinoamérica at 3:30pm México / 12pm Colombia / 1pm Venezuela / 1pm Chile / 18hrs Argentina and play SpongeMaster live via the free Nickelodeon Play app during back-to-back episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants! Nickelodeon celebra los 20 Años de Bob Esponja desde el 1 de julio con especiales, el estreno de una entrega live action y animación, “La Gran Fiesta de Cumpleaños de Bob Esponja”, además de muchos nuevos episodios, y el lanzamiento de SpongeMaster Game, un juego que no te querrás perder.
El episodio de “La Gran Fiesta de Cumpleaños de Bob Esponja”, será un especial de 1 hora, donde Patricio se encarga de sacar a todos los personajes al “mundo de la superficie” para distraerlos, mientras prepara la fiesta de cumpleaños de Bob Esponja en Fondo de Bikini. este episodio será emitido el sábado 13 de julio a las 19:00.

En el juego SpongeMaster Game, que vive en la plataforma de Nick Play, se combinan actividades de la audiencia con transmisiones en vivo desde el canal de Nickelodeon. Para acumular varios puntos tendrás que responder diversas preguntas referentes a los episodios de 20 Años de Bob Esponja, en especial de los 20 Personajes que saldrán ahí. Si eres el usuario con más respuestas correctas aparecerás en la pantalla… ¡en vivo! Para jugar esta aventura no te pierdas los episodios de Bob Esponja desde el lunes, 1 de julio a las 15:30.
"La gran fiesta de cumpleaños de Bob Esponja", episodio especial de una hora en conmemoración de los 20 años desde la creación del lisérgico personaje animado y sus aventuras en Bikini Bottom, podrá verse este sábado a las 21 a través de Nickelodeon.
El programa especial, que forma parte de la duodécima temporada de "Bob Esponja", contará con la participación del actor David Hasselhoff, viejo abonado a la serie.
En el episodio, el amigo de Bob, Patricio, llevará al resto de los personajes al mundo de la superficie para distraerlos mientras se prepara la fiesta de cumpleaños.
El programa forma parte de una lista de homenajes en honor al icónico personaje, que contará con maratones, contenido digital y hasta con el lanzamiento del SpongeMaster Game, que permitirá a los fanáticos conseguir puntos a través de sus dispositivos móviles al responder preguntas sobre la historia de Bob Esponja.
Quien resulte ganador verá su nombre en la pantalla de TV durante la emisión habitual de la serie. (Télam)

Para celebrar los 20 años de la popular animación, el canal presentará el capítulo especial La gran fiesta de cumpleaños de Bob Esponja, que contará con la participación de David Hasselhoff, protagonista de Baywatch y El coche fantástico.
El episodio especial también contará con los actores de doblaje de la serie, quienes les ponen voz a Calamardo, Patricio, Arenita, Plankton y al señor Cangrejo en la versión original.
El capítulo especial se podrá ver este sábado a las 9 p.m.

We're celebrating the Big 2-0 with the denizens of Bikini Bottom: Tom Kenny (SquarePants Himself), Caroln Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Mr. Lawrence (Plankton).
Everyone from Bikini Bottom is in on SpongeBob's 20th anniversary!
HE'S 20! GET READY FOR SPONGEBOB’S BIG BIRTHDAY BLOWOUT
Plunge into Bikini Bottom, because it's the 20th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants and the characters are throwing a huge birthday bash with their human alter egos!
SYFY WIRE's Tara Bennett dove deep into Nickelodeon studios and, after flipping through some SpongeBob art any diehard fan would work 95 hours flipping Krabby Patties for, sat down with the (human) cast of the show to talk two decades of undersea shenanigans.
Meaning, things are about to get wild.
For SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout, everyone in Bikini Bottom is going to out-party even their Super Bowl halftime smash when the humans who voice the characters will get to go on camera and voice the very same characters in an episode that merges live action with animation. While huge crab eyes and porous square bodes are just not part of the human anatomy, you'll be surprised at how much the actors embody the characters, right down to SpongeBob's extreme facial expressions.
Tom Kenny (SquarePants himself), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Mr. Lawrence (Plankton) were all in on the celebration. They have, after all, voiced 255 episodes in those 20 years under the sea.
When asked what the characters wanted for their birthdays, the humans behind them were right on about what SpongeBob dreams of or Mr. Krabs lusts over. If you guessed cold, hard cash for that second one, you're right. Some are hungry for more than cake. Squidward would take all the canned bread (best thing since sliced!) he can possibly eat, and Sandy just wants her pecan pie.
After this long, is there anything the denizens of Bikini Bottom still need to conquer?
"Thank goodness we’ve been conquering our cancellation for 20 years," Kenny said. "That's always an actor's first priority!"
By now, you're probably ready to swim to the bottom of the ocean just to see the actors play their characters in a real-life Krusty Krab. Keep watching!
