St. Louis' Hi-Pointe Drive-In Acquires the Good Burger Hamburger Car

Update (4/9) - It's been revealed that the Hi-Pointe Drive-In in St. Louis, Missouri has purchased the iconic Good Burger mobile! The restaurant took to Facebook and Instagram to have loyal customers guess the name of the movie for a $50 gift card but it it unknown when and where the car will be on display.

Fans of Nickelodeon Movies' cult classic Good Burger film should look away now!


A fan of ’90s nostalgia contacted Jalopnik earlier this week to share a vague Facebook Marketplace ad for a 1975 AMC Pacer described simply as “Good Burger mobile from Nickelodeon's 1997 movie Good Burger” [sic] and yeah, there’s really no mistaking this particular Pacer despite the fact that it looks like it’s been sitting in an oceanside parking lot since the movie came out.


Released in 1997, Good Burger was based on a sketch from All That, Nickelodeon's Saturday Night Live for kids. In the movie, Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell star as Dexter and Ed, who kids who work at a homely burger joint called Good Burger and end up in some kind of battle with a flashy new burger establishment across the road.


The movie also starred Sinbad, as well as the iconic AMC Pacer with a giant burger mounted on its hood, known as the (what else?) Burgermobile.


Sadly, the Burgermobile has seen better days. Although its hamburger is still (barely) intact, the pickle hubcaps are missing.


It's currently unknown whether this is the official Good Burger Mobile. And if so, is it screen used or made for promotional uses. The International Hamburger Hall of Fame and the Hamburger Museum say they have bought the car in a effort to save it from the scrap yard, however, movie companies sometimes make multiple versions of cars for use in production as well as for promotions.


The Burgermobile is for sale in Florida now for a cool $10,000 USD. Then Jalopnik replied to the ad and got a little background from Karl, who’s selling the car–apparently his dad “bought it off someone who I think won it in a contest after the movie release” approximately 12 years ago. As you can tell from the pictures, it hasn’t moved a whole lot since then.

Looks like a pretty gnarly restoration project, but then again, ’90s nostalgia is so strong right now that I bet somebody will step up to take this on. How hard can it be to find Pacer parts?

Sadly, its a fate far too common with classic movie cars. The iconic Ecto 1 from Ghostbusters was also left to rot, until it was restored to promote Ghostbusters: The Video Game.

Famous Burger Mobile from 90s film 'Good Burger' could be spotted on St. Louis streets this August

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Welcome to Hi-Pointe Drive-In, home of smashed-thin burgers, Can I take your order?

The iconic drive-in is bringing a blast from the 90's past to the St. Louis area. The famous Burger Mobile featured in the 1997's Nickelodeon film Good Burger will soon have a new home, thanks to the Hi-Pointe Drive-In.

Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson and actor Kel Mitchell drove the 1975 AMC Pacer, which had a hamburger on its hood, to deliver the burgers in the movie.

Fast forward 22 years, the car is now covered in rust and has been purchased by the owners of the drive-in.

Mike Johnson, the owner of the drive-in, said the car was purchased for $6,000 and had to be towed to St. Louis from Daytona Beach. The car is currently undergoing around $20,000 worth of work.

“People these days want to have an Instagramable picture, so we'll keep it open and let people open it and sit in it to take pictures and stuff. Hopefully there will be less glass in the seats,” Johnson said.

The restaurant took to Facebook in early April to have loyal customers guess the name of the movie for a $50 gift card but it unknown when and where the car will be on display.

According to Johnson, the 'Burger Mobile' should be spotted on St. Louis-area streets in August.

Ariana Grande’s Rendition Of A Classic ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ Song Is Surprisingly Heartfelt

Ariana Grande took to her Instagram on Sunday (May 19) to share a Sponge-Tastic video of herself taking it back to her Nickelodeon roots. The musician performed a short cover of "This Grill is Not A Home" -- a dramatic and heart-wrenching duet between SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs from the 2002 episode "Welcome to the Chum Bucket" -- showcasing her stunning vocals.

In the episode, Mr. Krabs lost SpongeBob to Plankton in a game of cards, so SpongeBob was forced to work at the Chum Bucket. During the episode, SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs sing the duet, which is actually a pretty emotional song that features lyrics like, “But this grill is not a home / This is not the stove I know / I would trade it all away / If you’d come back to stay.”

"This kitchen's not the same without you," the former Nickelodeon star (Victorious, Sam & Cat) belts at the top of her lungs. "It's just a greasy spoon," she continues to sing. Grande didn’t sing the whole thing start to finish in her Instagram video, but belted out some lyrics between bouts of laughter, showing that even when she’s goofing around, there’s no turning that voice off.

Her love for SpongeBob is well documented, and lately, she’s been putting her powerhouse vocals to use by singing some of the show’s iconic music. Last month, she was caught singing the “Krusty Krab Pizza” song.

It seems as though Grande is a huge SpongeBob music fan, as just last month, she was caught in a video singing the "Krusty Krab Pizza" song.

JoJo Siwa Kicks Off ‘D.R.E.A.M.’ Tour (and Celebrates Her 16th Birthday) with Sold-Out Show

Glittering Nickelodeon star JoJo Siwa has kicked off her first tour with a bang. On Sunday, May 19, 2019 — which was also Siwa’s 16th birthday — she opened D.R.E.A.M. The Tour with a sold-out live show in Phoenix, Arizona that drew nearly 5,000 to the city’s Microsoft Theater.


The kidfluencer, who has 9.7 million subscribers on YouTube and 8.3 million followers on Instagram, took to social media this morning to share her excitement.

“WOW! What a unreal night. ❤️ Opening night of D.R.E.A.M. The tour was a literal DREAM come true. I can’t explain how I feel after tonight, it’s so rewarding getting to do what I love in front of thousands of people! 🎉 To the 4800 tonight in Phoenix, AZ… thank you for a incredible night! And to the over 100 people on the D.R.E.AM. Nation CREW thank you for a incredible tour,” JoJo wrote.

D.R.E.A.M. The Tour, presented by Party City and produced by Nickelodeon and AEG Presents, celebrates the release of Siwa’s first EP (also named D.R.E.A.M.). Over the next four months, she’ll visit more than 70 U.S. cities, concluding Tuesday, September 17, 2019 in Grand Prairie, Texas. The tour was originally meant to visit only 22 cities, but following fan demand, Nickelodeon expanded it in December, and then again in April.

Siwa’s birthday special, JoJo’s D.R.E.A.M. Birthday, premiered on Nickelodeon USA on Saturday, May 18, 2019. During the special, she surprise-dropped a new music video for her song “Worldwide Party” on YouTube. JoJo’s D.R.E.A.M. Birthday is currently rolling out onto Nickelodeon channels worldwide.



Nickelodeon signed Siwa to a talent deal in 2017, following a licensing deal in 2016. Her D.R.E.A.M. EP and tour are both part of the entertainment giant’s plan to build up a stable of influencers and take them into ventures outside of television.

“These songs aren’t born out of a specific show, as iCarly or Victorious were,” Doug Cohn, Nickelodeon’s Senior Vice President (SVP) of music, said when D.R.E.A.M. dropped last November. “Rather they appear on all of our various platforms in a multitude of ways — both audio and visual. The landscape is changing, and Nickelodeon is changing with it.”

OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE

Rowena Cordrey to join Viacom as VP, Head of Content, Legal and Compliance

Current ITN deputy head of compliance, Rowena Cordrey, is to join Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) as Vice President (VP), head of content, legal and compliance.


In this role, Cordrey will oversee the legal and regulatory compliance of Viacom’s content across Channel 5, Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central; including broadcast, online and marketing output across the UK, Northern and Eastern Europe.

Cordrey’s remit will primarily be across Channel 5, working with programme makers and the editorial team to represent the channel from a content legal perspective. She will be responsible for recommending strategy, policy, process and best practice in relation to regulatory and legal programme compliance. Cordrey will report into Marcus Lee, VP for General Counsel, VIMN, UK, Northern & Eastern Europe.

Cordrey joins Viacom from ITN where she provided pre and post broadcast/publication legal, compliance, reputational and ethical advice for programming across ITN and its clients including Channel 5, Channel 4 and ITV. Prior to this, she held roles as a lawyer in Channel 4’s Legal and Compliance team and a solicitor at BBC Litigation.

Lee said: “Rowena has extensive experience within broadcast media and a thorough understanding of the complexities surrounding the legal and compliance processes so we’re delighted to have her on board.

“She will play a key role on the team, helping Channel 5 in its mission to deliver insightful public interest programming, whilst ensuring compliance from a legal and regulatory standpoint.”

Viacom International Media Networks Names Gabor Harsanyi as New VP and GM, VIMN Central and Eastern Europe and Israel

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) today, Friday 17th May 2019, announced Gabor Harsanyi as the new Vice President (VP) and General Manager of the media company's Central and Eastern Europe and Israel (CEEI) division.

Harsanyi has been with VIMN since 2012 in various senior Commercial and Content Distribution Management (CDM) roles, and most recently held the position of VP, CDM, CEEI and country manager for Hungary.

He has been instrumental in a number of achievements including the multiplication of VIMN’s cumulative number of households and affiliate revenues in CEEI, as well as the recent launch of Paramount+ and Nickelodeon Play Digital VOD products across the region.

Commenting on the appointment, James Currell, president of VIMN UK, Northern and Eastern Europe, said: “Our CEEI business has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years and with Gábor’s accomplishments, deep local knowledge, strong management credentials and passion for the Viacom brands, we are now perfectly positioned to take this business to the next level”.

For the past few months, VIMN CEEI region’s GM responsibilities have been temporarily overseen by Elena Balmont, Senior Vice President (SVP) and General Director (GM), Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, the Baltic countries and CIS. With the appointment of Harsanyi, the two regions will continue to operate separately. In his new role as VP, GM, VIMN CEEI, Harsanyi will be responsible for the activities of Viacom brands - including Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, Nick Jr., MTV, Spike, Comedy Central, and the Paramount Channel - in 14 Central and Eastern European countries, as well as in Israel.

The general manager VIMN CEEI will be supported by two country managers: Katarzyna Samojluk, VP, finance, VIMN CEI, who has been appointed as country manager for Poland; and Richard Finer, senior legal counsel, VIMN CEEI, who continues to oversee Viacom’s Israeli operations as country manager for Israel.

Prior to joining Viacom International Media Networks, Gábor worked as the commercial director of PR-Telecom Zrt, and as a country manager of HBO, a commercial and marketing manager in Hungary. He started his career in sales and marketing at Coca-Cola.

Rockpool Licensing to Represent Jam Media’s 'Becca’s Bunch' in the UK & Ireland

Jam Media has announced the appointment of Rockpool Licensing to represent the company’s key preschool brand Becca's Bunch in the UK and Ireland.


Rockpool will look to uncover licensing opportunities for the show and build up the property's licensing programme in key categories such as apparel, bedding, homewares, stationery and greetings & gifting verticals. The agency aims to capitalise on the recent success the IP has had with current partners such as Jakks Pacific and Egmont.

Proving a consistent ratings winner on Nick Jr. channels globally since first broadcast last summer, Jam has confirmed the show is set to launch on Channel 5's Milkshake! programming strand in the U.K. during the fourth quarter of 2019. Jakks Pacific is already on board as master toy partner, with product set to hit the shelves in autumn/winter 2019. Master publishers Egmont (worldwide excluding North America) and Candlewick Press (North America) have titles in development to launch spring 2020.

The preschool show follows the adventures of a little bobble hat-wearing bird named Becca and her friends in Wagtail Woods. Their exploits encourage children to think big, be adventurous and never give up.

Vickie O’Malley, Managing Director (MD) of Rockpool, said: “I fell in love with Becca and her quirky group of friends as soon as I saw them. Becca's Bunch (52 x 11') is produced by Dublin-based creative production, distribution and licensing company JAM Media. Nickelodeon acquired the exclusive broadcast rights to the series in the US and Pay TV rights for the rest of the world in October 2016. Jason Freeny and Mondo Unveil SpongeBob SquarePants Dissected Vinyl Figure

Jason Freeny’s long-running series of dissected vinyl figures are often limited to his art shows. However, he's made an exception for Nickelodeon's beloved SpongeBob SquarePants!


Mondo presents SpongeBob SquarePants as a new “dissected” vinyl figure designed by artist Jason Freeny! Standing 10 inches tall, the piece features SpongeBob’s exposed skeleton, including his squishy brain and detachable figure stand.

Two versions will be offered: a standard release (Limited Edition of 545. $150 USD) and a Mondo Exclusive (Edition of 345. $155 USD) that features a glow-in-the-dark skeleton that glows green, and a brain that glows red.

The dissected SpongeBob SquarePants vinyl sculpture are available to pre-order now via mondotees.com. Both versions are expected to Ship in July 2019.

The SpongeBob SquarePants Dissected Vinyl Figure was previously released as a 4-inch version in 2018, and follows a similarly designed dissected Reptar from Rugrats - both of which were released by Mighty Jaxx.
