Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids, has announced that they are making edits to the network's annual Nickelodeon Writing Program (2020 – 2021).
Nickelodeon's global Writing Program, which receives over 1,400 applications each year, is one of the best in the biz, and offers aspiring television writers, with diverse backgrounds and experiences, the amazing opportunity to hone their skills while writing for Nickelodeon's live action and animation shows. Consider the facts: alum have gone on to create their own Nickelodeon shows and write for all sorts of TV series and films.
While in the Program, writers meet Nickelodeon's series creators, story editors and showrunners, work in writers’ rooms, attend pitches, records, show tapings and more, and receive hands-on experience writing spec scripts and pitching story ideas in both live action and animated television. Basically, they write a lot and do lots of cool things, all while being provided a salary!
Normally launching during January each year, the Nickelodeon Writing Program is pushing the submission period to July 2020. The submission period for the 2020 Nickelodeon Writing Program will open at Wednesday, July 1, 2020, and will close at midnight (PST) on Saturday, August 1, 2020. Following the call for entries, NWP 2020 semi-finalists will be notified by Wednesday, September 30, 2020, with the finalists being notified by Thursday, November 15, 2020. The chosen writers selected to take part in the next edition of the Nickelodeon Writing Program will then be notified by Monday, November 30, 2020.
Along with new calendar dates, the Nickelodeon Writing Program will also be revealing more updates to the program in the coming months, including a revamped Accepted Shows List.
