Rugrats was one of the first children's television series to feature prominent Jewish characters, and featured two Jewish-themed specials: "A Rugrats Passover" and "A Rugrats Chanukah", which received critical acclaim when first aired and are still loved and remembered fondly by fans to this day. The latter special of which gave us the iconic line, “A Maccababy’s gotta do what a Maccababy’s gotta do”.
David N. Weiss, who had then recently converted to Judaism and co-wrote "A Rugrats Chanukah" with J. David Stem, called the episode, “A great way to bring all this Judaism onto Nickelodeon for millions of American children to watch every year.” Just like he grew up with Rudolph and Frosty, he wanted to give Jewish kids their own holiday programming that they could grow up with.
In the Rugrats Dreidel Dice Game, fans can spin dreidels and roll dice with their favorite babies from Nickelodeon’s Rugrats, and afterwards hug the roarsome Reptar plush, cute king of the dinosaurs! Inspired by classic dreidels, the game adds dice and scene cards from the fan-favorite episode "A Rugrats Chanukah". The game features all your favorite characters from Rugrats, including Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Angelica, Dil, Susie, Kimi, and Spike, and well as parents Stu & Didi and grandparents Minka & Boris! Each character has their own special ability. In the game, players must roll the dice and match the symbols on the scene card. The player with the most Gelt and total points from the completed scenes wins the game!
Each game pack contains: 44 scene cards, 12 character cards, 108 Gelt coins, 10 dice, 1 dreidel, 1 dice cup. There are also options for more in the rewards. Players can play the game with dice or simply play with dreidels. Either way, help these Maccababies celebrate one of their favorite holidays!
