First Look at Jane Lynch & Tim Gunn's 'Middle School Moguls' Characters; Alex Wassabi Joins Cast

Nickelodeon USA will start to premiere Middle School Moguls, a series of four brand-new CG-animated half-hour specials, in September 2019!

Middle School Moguls is inspired by the concept created by Gina and Jenae Heitkamp, who also serve as co-executive producers. The specials chronicle the ambitions of four new friends striving to create their own companies while attending Mogul Academy, an entrepreneurial school where kid-business dreams come true. They follow students Valeria (voiced by Olympic gold medalist Laurie Hernandez), Winnie (Daniella Perkins, Knight Squad, Blurt!), Celeste (Jade Pettyjohn, School of Rock) and Yuna (Haley Tju, Bella & the Bulldogs), who are empowered by Mogul Academy to test their business creativity, innovation and grit, but being a kid boss comes with grown-up challenges so they’ll have to think outside of the box and “mogulize” if they want to make their big dreams a reality.

Additional voice cast includes Tim Gunn (Project Runway) as Wren, a non-binary teacher in the Mogul Academy Fashion Branch, and Jane Lynch (Glee, iCarly) as Victoria Steele, the Headmaster of Mogul Academy. Additional casting news to come.

Update (8/15) - Alex Wassabi has joined Nickelodeon’s upcoming animated series, Middle School Moguls, and Just Jared Jr. has unveiled an awesome first look! The 29-year-old social star and actor will star as Ethan in the upcoming show, starring opposite Laurie Hernandez, Daniella Perkins, Jade Pettyjohn and Haley Tju. Alex‘s character is the moguls’ comedic resident advisor.

The characters are based on GenGirlMedia's Middle School Mogul dolls (formerly called iBesties) which were created to inspire the next generation of female business leaders.

To celebrate the debut of Middle School Moguls, TV Insider has unveiled our first look at Lynch and Gunn's characters, Victoria and Wren, respectively!:

“We’re thrilled to partner with Gina and Jenae Heitkamp to bring Middle School Moguls to life on screen and to showcase authentic stories that speak to today’s generation of ambitious kids,” said Chris Viscardi, who was Nickelodeon's Senior Vice President (SVP) of Animation Production and Development at the time of the announcement in September 2018. Chris (The Adventures of Pete and Pete, Sanjay and Craig, KaBlam!) has since moved into a producer role for the network, overseeing the creation of feature-length animated content for both Nickelodeon and third-party digital and linear platforms.

“Kids today are learning about entrepreneurial opportunities at a much younger age. They want to start their own business and make business playful and empowering. They believe nothing is unattainable. Middle School Moguls taps into this entrepreneurial movement – building businesses based on kids’ unique skills, boundless inventiveness and taking action to pursue their passions.”

DANIELLA PERKINS GOING BACK TO SCHOOL THIS SEPTEMBER TO MOGUL ACADEMY

Daniella Perkins is one of Hollywood’s hottest young rising stars but is going back to school and enrolling in a new academy this September to learn how to become – the BOSS!

Well, her new teen-age character is anyway.

Perkins voices the character, Winnie, an aspiring chef who will be enrolling in Mogul Academy next month as part of the new upcoming Nickelodeon animated mini-series “Middle School Moguls.”

The series “Middle School Moguls” is four half-hour CG-animated television specials that were created by GenGirl Media Inc. founders and sisters Gina Heitkamp and Jenae Heitkamp to inspire the next generation of female business leaders and entrepreneurs. It chronicles the ambitions of four new friends attending Mogul Academy, an entrepreneurial school where kid-business dreams come true.

“Middle School Moguls” showcases four new students and Perkins says she shares a key trait with her character Winnie.

“I love Winnie because she doesn’t give up on her dream,” explains Perkins about her show’s character. “She’s going to school to be a pet chef, but her dream is to be a real chef and even her family is against her on it.

“She doesn’t stop, and she figures out a way to make her dreams come true,” adds Perkins. “She just believes in herself a lot. I feel like that’s something I believe in personally myself, so I love that it’s in Winnie, too.”

Winnie’s new friends attending Mogul Academy are Valeria, voiced by Olympic gold medal gymnast Laurie Hernandez; Celeste voiced by Jade Pettyjohn (“School of Rock”) and Yuna voiced by Haley Tju, (“Bella & the Bulldogs).

The girls are empowered by Mogul Academy to test their business creativity, innovation and grit. But being a kid boss comes with grown-up challenges, so the students will have to think outside of the box and “mogulize” if they want to make their big dreams a reality.

Helping the girls along their journeys are Victoria Steele, the Headmaster of Mogul Academy, voiced by actress Jane Lynch (“Glee”), and Wren, a non-binary teacher in the Mogul Academy Fashion Branch, voiced by Tim Gunn (“Project Runway”).

Before being cast on “Middle School Moguls,” Perkins was Nickelodeon’s first multi-racial princess starring as Ciara in “Knight Squad.” Her past credits include a series regular role on Nickelodeon’s Legendary Dudas, as well the leading role as Milly in the Nickelodeon TV movie “Blurt” and a guest-starring role on Disney’s “Girl Meets World.”

With downtime on set, Perkins frequently collaborates with her younger sister Devenity on social media where the Perkins Sisters accounts have amassed a following of over 2.5 million. Connect with Daniella on Instagram and YouTube.
