From Bleeding Cool:

Power Rangers Fandom is in Full Force Thanks to Hasbro

Power Rangers took over Room 9 at SDCC Thursday for a lively and fun panel, where we got a sneak peak at some new Beast Morphers footage and toys, along with what is coming in the popular Power Rangers Lightning Collection line. We even got a surprise appearance form the Red Ranger himself, Austin St. John, who seemed really pumped to be there.

Power Rangers Beast Morphers continues to chug along, and the show is quite a bit of fun actually. St, john will be appearring soon, and will more of the classic Rangers throughout the franchises history. As far as toys go, there were not any new Beast Morphers figures shown, but they di show off the new Ultimate Beast-X Ultrazord, and it is a mighty impressive looking toy.

Lightning Collection dominated the rest of the panel, and with good reason. The figures are stellar, and the first wave was selling out everywhere during its initial shipments. Wave two is coming next month, and will feature two figures from Power Rangers Beast Morphers, the Red Ranger and the Gold Ranger. Lost Galaxy Magna Defender will also be in the wave, but the loudest cheers were for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Pink Ranger Kimberly figure. She will have new butterfly joints in her shoulders for great poseability with her bow, and looks fantastic. Also shown was a new Fighting Spirit Green Ranger and Putty two pack.

At the end of the panel, it was revealed that they are moving into higher end role play items as well, with a White Ranger helmet shown off. These are full size replicas, and will cost $$79.99, not bad for what looks to be a high quality helmet.

Another note: during the Q&A a lot of questions were raised about diversity and representation with Power Rangers moving forward, and the brand team answered each question with promptness and patience. I really believe that Hasbro is going to take great care of the Rangers moving forward, and it feels like we have only scratched the surface of where they can take it.

From SYFY WIRE:

IT'S MORPHIN' TIME! A CELEBRATION OF MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers mini-documentary explores its 25+-year legacy

o you remember when Power Rangers ruled the Earth? It's a trick question, because they still do. It's a rare TV franchise that lasts more than a handful of years, but Power Rangers just crossed the quarter century mark last year. There have been 26 seasons of the various Power Rangers incarnations and three feature films, but it all started in 1993 with "five teenagers with attitude" who came together in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

To celebrate our ongoing appreciation of the series, SYFY WIRE spoke with three members of the original cast: Austin St. John, Walter Jones, and David Yost, as well as later addition, Jason David Frank, to get their Power Rangers perspective and even a few origin stories. As related by Frank, he was only supposed to appear as Tommy Oliver/Green Ranger in ten episodes, but he was retained by the series and Tommy went on to become the show's breakout character.

According to Jones, the cast members began feeling the intensity of their newfound fame even before the show aired. Power Rangers Mania peaked in 1994 when a rare live appearance by the cast at Universal Studios Hollywood drew so many people that it brought Los Angeles to a standstill. That is not a euphemism: we dug up some news footage of a freeway shutdown caused by Power Rangers fans!

Power Rangers toys were a hot commodity at Christmas, and the series was popular around the world. All of the cast members expressed their amazement about how far their fandom extends, as well as the way it's been passed on to the subsequent generations. The Power Rangers' popularity has waxed and waned over the past 26 years, but it has never completely gone away. It’s always going to be Morphin' Time!
