Frankie Grande Reveals He Helped Create ‘Whackadoo’ Role Of Frankini In ‘Henry Danger’ Ahead Of Musical Ep
Frankie Grande returns to the role of Frankini in the highly-anticipated ‘Henry Danger: The Musical,’ & spoke to HL about how he helped create the wild character!
Frankie Grande‘s energy is absolutely contagious, and in Nickelodeon’s Henry Danger: The Musical, his character Frankini literally spreads Frankie’s bubbly, high-energy personality to Swellview– putting a musical curse on the town! “The role was actually written for me by Dan Schneider, and he created Frankini based on me. He’s essentially an ego-maniacal YouTuber who would do anything for likes!” Frankie, who has recurred on Henry Danger as Frankini, explained in an EXCLUSIVE podcast interview with HollywoodLife. “It’s so fun because I’ve created such an amazing, out of his mind, whackadoo character out of him. It’s been really lovely.”
He continued, “I think Frankini was a loner growing up and he discovered he was really smart, so he created this world and just has a goal of being a social media star, but somehow got lost along the way and started doing things that are really uncool to get views on YouTube.” In Henry Danger: The Musical, which premieres on Nickelodeon July 27, Frankini uses a machine to put a curse on the town that forces them to sing and dance nonstop, and it’s up to Kid Danger and Captain Man to put a stop to it.
“I think there are characters on Henry Danger that are truly evil, but Frankini… I think they enjoy him,” Frankie revealed. “He’s not going to ruin everything, he’s just misunderstood.” In the musical episode, Frankie gets to show off his Broadway background by dancing and singing throughout (all while rocking rhinestoned boots!) “Sam Martin wrote the music — she’s one of the writers on Henry Danger and she always dreamed to write a musical… she wrote 26 songs and the musical was born,” the actor explained. “She really wanted Frankini as the villain and I was so honored when she said that. Plus, Chris Judd is the choreographer, so it was so much fun to work with him.”
We can’t wait to see Frankie Grande as Frankini do some damage in Swellville (before Kid Danger saves the day — hopefully!) Make sure to listen to our full interview with Frankie on the HollywoodLife podcast!

From GMA:
Is it Frankie or Frankini? Frankie J. Grande gets candid about his character
Frankie J. Grande is an actor, singer, dancer and YouTube personality who may be the best friend and half-brother of superstar Ariana Grande, but who’s gaining his own following.
Perhaps best known for his performances in Broadway’s “Rock of Ages” and “Mamma Mia!” the charismatic star is now leading the show.
Grande just landed a role on Nickelodeon’s "Henry Danger: The Musical," where he plays an egomaniacal YouTuber desperate for social media attention named Frankini.
Frankini -- a role show creator Dan Schneider specifically made for Grande -- is a supervillian who puts a musical curse on the town of Swellview that heroes Kid Danger and Captain Man try to break.
Grande told “GMA” that he had a lot of similarities with his character.
We are both "super extravagant, like super over-the-top, lots of glitter, beautiful eye makeup,” Grande said. “[Frankini is] almost as fabulous as Frankie … other way around ... Frankie is almost as fabulous as Frankini.”
We put his fabulous self to the test and showed Grande quotes said either by him or by Frankini and pictures of both personas and asked Grande to explain who's who. Is it Frankie or Frankini?
Read on below to see what he said about each quote.
'The only fights in musicals are fights through dance.'
“That is absolutely a Frankini quote,” he said. “Frankie also agrees with Frankini that, that would be pretty awesome.”
'Shablam'
“Shablaming is a term in the drag culture when you literally go up on one leg and then do a lay-out, and go straight down to the floor,” Grande explained, describing it as a belly flop on your back. “I literally do actually ‘shablam’ and you can hear the sound I make when I hit the floor. It’s so loud."
“I literally don’t even know how it made it into the musical, because it’s so literally just me,” he said.
Oh so gorgeous in glitter
"OH! WERK!” Oh my God!"
“This is very much a Frankie Grande moment," he exclaimed.
Grande and Frankini both have glamorous style and rock the extra glitter.
“When I got to sit down with the creative team on Nickelodeon and talk about what Frankini’s look could be like. It was very much inspired like by my personal style.”
“I’m very much inspired by David Bowie and by Prince.”
'I’m having a party and you’re invited.'
“It’s actually a line from one of the earlier Franiki episodes, but like, I’m always having people over," he said. "Frankie is always inviting people to parties. I’m always the hostess with the mostess.”
Behind the scenes selfies: Frankie as Frankini
“Oh my God! This photo is everything! It’s Frankie as Frankini having fun with his director, which is very much me. I don’t think Frankini would have fun with his director, because Frankini is his own director.”
Humble beginnings
“Oh! Cute. This is a really special photo to me, because this is from the first episode I got to play Frankini on 'Henry Danger.'”
“This is very much a Frankie Grande moment, basking in his joy for being cast in the show 'Henry Danger,’” he reflected.
Turns out Frankie and Frankini are living their best life full of glitter, glam and fun.

From Cheddar:
Social Media Star Frankie Grande Gives Instagram 'the Most Love'
With all of the social media platforms to like, love, and comment on, influencers may have a tough time deciding where to focus in order to reach the most followers. But social media mogul Frankie Grande tells Cheddar that he knows where to spend his valuable time: Instagram.
"It's my biggest platform. I have the most followers there, so I am going to give my biggest platform the most love," said Grande on Monday.
In addition to fun photos and short clips, Grande is adding IGTV to his repertoire, a feature that lets Instagram users post long-form videos to their accounts.
"I feel like Instagram needed to have its own space now, so they can compete directly with YouTube in that way," Grande said.
Instagram recently announced that it is rolling out a test in select areas that hides "likes" on posts. It immediately drew concern from many users, including social media influencers who use likes to decide what kinds of content to produce.
"As a tool, likes are really important for me. I think it can become an obsession," Grande stated.
Even when he's offline, Grande's digital persona shines through, like in his latest role on Nickelodeon's musical episode of "Henry Danger" where his character fights through dance which premieres on July 27.
"It literally is something I would love to do in real life," says Grande, "Frankini invents a machine which makes everyone sing and dance like they are in a musical 24/7."

[Frankie Grande] is acting in a musical of his own right now, reprising his role as Frankini in Henry Danger: The Musical, airing on Nickelodeon this Saturday, July 27, at 8 PM ET!
The special TV event will feature 26, original, Broadway-style numbers, and after speaking with Frankie, it seems it will definitely be spectacular! “Some things we shot like a musical, like the park scene, which we had to do many takes of because there were so many moving pieces and close to 30 people!” Frankie explained on the podcast. “The choreographer came up to me on about take 20 and told me I could stop doing my high kick, because they got it, and I was like, ‘I can’t because what’s going to happen is the take that I am marking, for some reason everything else is going to look really good, and that’s the one that they’re going to use and I’m going to be really upset.’ So I kicked every single scene, every single shot, and you know, what it worked because it looks amazing!”
Frankie continued, “My quads were on fire. Also, dancing in heeled, wedge boots, which were very heavy…They are winter boots that we rhinestoned to make them even heavier and sparklier. But you know what, I wouldn’t have changed it for the world, because it looks fantastic!” We can’t wait to see! Make sure to tune in to Nickelodeon on July 27th at 8 PM ET for Henry Danger: The Musical, and see Frankie as Frankini put a musical curse over the town of Swellville!

“We always opened Christmas presents at midnight on Christmas Eve,” the 36-year-old said. “Like, it’s not like a, ‘Let’s wake up early’ kind of thing. It’s like, let’s stay up super-duper late, till, like, 4 or 5 a.m, and then sleep until 4 or 5 p.m., wake up on Christmas Day, and then have dinner-slash-breakfast. It’s awesome.”
