It's morphin’ time!
Nickelodeon USA will premiere Power Rangers Beast Morphers, the 26th season of the iconic, long-standing Power Rangers franchise, which will introduce fans to the next generation of Power Rangers, on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. (ET/PT)!
The season premiere episode will be titled "Beasts Unleashed" with the synopsis below:
"Scientists tap into the Morphin Grid, but an evil virus corrupts the technology and a new team of Power Rangers is formed to defend the Grid from evil."
This marks a big shift for Power Rangers as new episodes will now air four hours earlier than they did throughout the previous eight years.
The news was announced during Hasbro’s update with investors just before the 2019 North American International Toy Fair. A trailer will be released imminently.
For the last few months, fans greatly anticipated when the 26th season of Power Rangers would premiere. Typically arriving in January or February, the new season of Power Rangers got off to a later start in 2019 to coincide with the release of toys based on the TV show in April 2019.
The toys released later than usual as the master toy license transitioned from Bandai America to Hasbro, who also acquired the Power Rangers franchise from Saban last year. Hasbro’s Power Rangers Beast Morphers toys will begin hitting store shelves in Spring 2019.
The Power Rangers are going full on “beast mode” with its 26th season of Power Rangers Beast Morphers, which releases on Nickelodeon in 2019. Featuring an all-new cast of heroes and villains, Power Rangers Beast Morphers will expand the Power Rangers universe with tactical leather suits, ‘Beast Bot’ sidekicks and elevated battle footage.
Set in the future, a secret agency combines a newly discovered substance called “Morph-X” with animal DNA to create the Power Rangers Beast Morphers team. The Rangers must fight off an evil sentient computer virus named Evox which is bent on taking over the source of all Ranger power, the Morphin Grid itself. Only one fighting force can come together and stop Evox once and for all: the three new Beast Morpher Power Rangers and their Beast Bot sidekicks! Featuring never-before-seen leather suits and an all-new beast-themed arsenal (including dynamic new Zords), fans should get ready for a season full of secret ops and morphinominal fun!
Power Rangers Beast Morphers will have 22 episodes and will follow the same format the franchise has rolled out over the previous 8 years – with 20 episodes airing alongside two holiday themed specials: one geared towards Halloween, and another geared towards Christmas. Each episode will have a 30 minute runtime, with commercials. The season will air on Nick USA for the duration of 2019.
With 22 episodes airing in 2019, Power Rangers Beast Morphers will take the Power Rangers franchise to a grand total of 897 episodes when the season concludes.
Power Rangers Beast Morphers will star Rorrie D. Travis as Devon / Red Ranger, Jacqueline Scislowski as Zoey / Yellow Ranger, Jasmeet Baduwalia as Ravi / Blue Ranger, Abraham Rodriguez as Nate, Colby Strong as Blaze, Cosme Flores as Ben, Kristina Ho as Betty, Liana Ramirez as Roxy, Kevin Copeland (Mayor Daniels), and James Gordon (Handyman).
It may be a new era for Power Rangers, but the Red Rangers may still have daddy issues. Although no exact issues have been confirmed, recent Power Rangers seasons have become known for their Red Rangers having long, drawn out storylines involving their fathers. The first season of the Hasbro era, Power Rangers Beast Morphers, seems poised to continue that trend as the Red Ranger’s father will be the mayor of the city the season takes place in.
Travis, the actor playing Devon in PRBM recently confirmed his character’s full name is "Devon Daniels" in a recent Instagram post, prompting some fans to realize that his last name coincides with a character who will portrayed by actor Kevin Copeland: Mayor Daniels.
With both characters bearing the last name of Daniels, there’s no doubt that the Red Ranger’s father will be the mayor of the season’s city which has yet to be named.
For the first time ever, each of the Power Rangers will have their own sidekick in Power Rangers Beast Morphers! The Beast Bots are the lovable sidekicks that will aid the Rangers in the quest to defeat Earth’s evildoers.
- The Red Ranger’s Beast Bot will be a Cheetah named Cruise.
- The Blue Ranger’s Beast Bot will be a Gorilla named Smash.
- The Yellow Ranger’s Beast Bot will be a Jackrabbit named Jax.
Power Rangers Beast Morphers will use footage from the 2012 Super Sentai series Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters (the 36th season overall).
It's currently unknown whether Power Rangers Beast Morphers will have a second season in 2020. While it’s likely that the cast, and adaptation of Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, will stick around into a Power Rangers Super Beast Morphers (fan-made, unconfirmed title), it has yet to be definitively confirmed.
